  1. Most highlight videos don't show passes. I don't like those. I try to show the players entire game in my videos.

Rubios's highlights are all passes, which is pretty much all he can do. I like what Teague can do.

  2. Marvin for Ray Felton?? PASS

and no thanks to Bosh as well, and it's going to take more than Smoove to get Bosh.. Some of the people on here don't seem to understand that... Not that he's going anywhere.. I think it's more likely he ends up in Miami. They have more to offer

IF we are trading Marvin, I would much rather we get a big man for him.....

Of course Bosh is worth more that Josh but when you get to the end of a contract on a player you have to take less. It will be a bidding war so we will see how high the bids go. I would do Marvin and SMooth if I had to.

And I might be dreaming to get Felton for Marvin.

  3. I think its Flip but $$$ wise it makes more sense that its Bibby gone. Do we lose both? Keep both? Thoughts...........

I think they are both gone.

Next move is Marving for Ray Felton.

Next next move is Smooth for Bosh.

    Core

    Felton

    Crawford

    Johnson

    Bosch

    Horford

  4. TH is one of the safest picks in the draft and with the Hawks record of drafting players its boom or bust. How many players become star players in the NBA at 19? Not many plus the Hawks need a Kurt Rambis type that are a pain in the neck.TH will be one of those players you hate to see entering the game if your the opponent.

I think the records say the Hawks pick will be a bust or a bust! Go with Hansborough and hope he isn't another Sheldon.

  5. I think Crawford can be more than a BU SG. I think he can be the starting SG... roll Joe to SF. I believe wholeheartedly that Bibby is coming back. That leaves Marvin for a trade.

Now, we can say Marvin and Smoove for Bosh or Amare... However, I want to believe that we sure up holes by getting a defensive big (Pryz) and a pretty good PG (who could challenge Bibby) in Blake. Then we can draft either a SG (Ellington) or a PG (Lawson) or an OG (Teague).

    It's all interesting tonight!

    Marvin and Smoove for Bosh.

    Me Likey!

  6. This is like the deepest PG class ever. With guys like Rubio, Jennings, Holliday, Evans etc.

Someone like Teague/Maynard (sp?) are sure to fall to us

This draft is a complete failure if we stupidly don't pick one of those guys

And honestly we should be doing everything we can to trade up for a guy like Lawson

Take any young point guard and stick him in the Hawks system with coach woodson and he will suck. It will take a veteran point guard to have success.

Can we not draft a big and still sign a free agent point guard with experience? Yes we still need a point but we needed one before this deal. I look at Crawford as a shooting guard off the bench. A bit much to pay for a bench player but you are getting more than Speedy + Law which was dead money.

  7. 2 things pop out at me:

    1) One of Marvin or Bibby is gone for sure

    2) We're going PG tomorrow

Crawford is definitely overpaid some, but at least he has only 2 more years left on the deal. Plus, he provides the offensive production we SORELY need.

    I like it.

After paying Speedy 6 million to sit on the bench, Crawford is a bargain.

  8. More than anyone I want this guy as a Hawk. I don't know what it is specifically about him but he has that IT factor. I feel like we will look back at this draft with this guy being a top 5 player in the draft overall. I have a feeling he will be gone with picks 11-16 so we won't get a shot at him but if he's available at 19 and we don't snag him then there is definitely a problem with our scouting..thoughts?

I am affraid the T. Williams will explode in Hotlanta and not in a good way. Just to much banging and clubing available. And with no coach to guide him, he is much better of someplace else.

  9. My gut tells me that the Hype Machine has cranked up and gotten Lawson in the top 10. My gut also tells me that Hansbrough and Clark will sneak into the lottery. Hencefourth, I think it's a very good chance that Teague or Curry will fall.

The thing about Curry is that people are already putting the Eddie House label on him. Now they are saying "who will he guard". That's a fair question. I believe in Curry more than any old joe because of his father.

Teague on the other hand... He's going to be a beast in this league. Probably not right away though. However, I wouldn't pass on him.

I'm pretty Sure Manor will fall also. Not having Big School credit, he will be ousted out of the lotteryl Possibly out of the first round. Guys like Henderson and Jones are starting to get a lot of press. They have good hype machines.

    Who is Jones?

  10. What is your "gut feeling" of who will be left at #19 ?

I would love to get Lawson, Blair, Hasbrough, or T. Williams (and could even see the logic in BJ Mullens) but I fear they will all be gone by the time #19 comes around.

My gut is telling me that Teague and Maynor will be the best players on the board when our pick comes around. My gut also tells me that Sund prefers a post player (Blair, Hansbrough, Mullens) but none will be left at #19.

A lot of people could be getting the funny feeling that Jennings slips. Maybe not to #19 but out of the lottery possibly. If Jennings slips to #17 then that is the only scenerio I see Lawson being there for us at #19.

I do think one of those guys will be there for us at 19. I also agree that we go big. Hawks will wind up with either Blair, Hansborough, or Taj Gibson. I don't think they will really take another PG, even though they need one they don't need a rookie. I think Lawson may be the exception since he doesn't need a lot of coaching. If there is another big I am missing move him up the list because I jus think they go large.

  11. What is the point in extending him right now? For all we know he might get a career ending injury this upcoming season.

We aren't in any danger with Joe. When he becomes a free agent we will be able to offer him the most money. We also offer him familiarity, a place close to home, and assurance that the owners are 100% behind him. Remember, all of our ownership disputes right now are because of Joe, so Joe knows our owners want him badly.

That would be why you would by insurance on an injury. He can walk next year and all we might get is somethign in a sign and trade.

I don't think the team has endeared itself to Joe having Mike Woodson as coach. I would leave it it was me, thank goodnes it isn't.

  13. I think you have a limited understanding of how things work from the GM's chair under the NBA's CBA.

You make a reference saying we could sign plenty of FA's to long term deals and then call the owners cheap.

Point 1. We cannot sign other teams FA's b/c we have no room under the cap. That has nothing to with being cheap and everything to do with the NBA's FA rules found in the current CBA. You do realize we cannot even negotiate until July 1, I hope.

    2. The fact that we have no room under the salary cap should be proof enough that our owners are not cheap

    3. Heck we were less then a $1 million under the luxury tax threshold for heavens sakes.

You then say we should get Bosh, extend JJ, and add another piece.

    1. Bosh may have no interest in signing a long term extension here.....he would have to sign an extension to make the deal pratical for us. I hope this happens.

    2. JJ probably does not want to extend his contract this off season since there will be suitors lined up to pay him max money after they lose out on Wade and James.

The one point you made, that I agree with, is on the coaching situation.

I appreciate your points but they could have done something about this situation before now right. Why is everyone's contract about to expire? I can understand Marvin, Bibby and Zaza but why is Joe Johnson sitting here without a contract extension?

    Hawk88

  14. Its pretty scary to look at the current roster and see all the players who are free agents and have expiring contracts. Outside of Josh Smith nobody is signed long term. I am affraid that more than anything this is a reflection of the cheap *ss Spirit Group partners. Sund could make any number of moves but with Ownership not wanting to sign players to long term deals who in their right mind would sign with Atlanta?

Honestly this would be a great time for an ambitious new Owner to come in and shake things up and put together a real winner. Bosh is available, extend Joe's contract and even add another nice piece. But these guys are likely to just look at the economy and hold onto their dollars. Sad but sure would be nice if Sund could make some moves. Maybe hire a real coach instead of having Woody complete his contract because they don't want to pay for two coaches if one is fired. It's a travesty and David Stern should have stepped in on this a long time ago.

That said I guess we truly should just draft a player we think will be in the league for the next few years because who knows if any of these free agents will be offered contract. We are about to lose all our players and the only guys who will play for us is to get a paycheck.

    Sad to me.

  15. We know form the earlier poll that everyone like Lawson over Maynor.

What if Lawson is gone and we have Maynor and Teague to choose between ? Who do you like out of those two ?

Maynor the true PG with limited athletic ability

    or

Teague the dynamic combo guard with loads of athletic ability

The way you phrase it who would pick Maynor. The smart folks that know basketball. Seriously how athletically gifted were Deron williams and Chris Paul coming out? Pick the guy with the high basketball IQ and competitive nature as your point guard. That's Maynor.

What happens to Acie Law if we pick another point?/

    Hawk88

  16. I wouldn't call him a point forward, but he is a very good distributor of the ball and a good ball hander. At this point, he's a better distributor than scorer. He's got good role player potential because of his passing ability and his lock down defensive ability. He's not a great perimeter shooter, which may not make him a fit for the Hawks.

Anyway would could package 19 and Childress rights to move up and get Williams? I don't really think the team needs Childress, maybe he would play for somebody else. Likely that any teams above us are interested?

    Hawk88

  17. Why is this guy not getting much love? Is he a guy teams aren't talking about so that they can get him or are their issues. As much as I don't want us drafting a PG this guy looks very good. What am I missing?

    Hawk88

  18. I wish we can find the next Dwight Howard or Shaq in this draft, but it is not likely to happen. And it is becoming more likely the Hawks GM Sund is going to make a strong effort to keep Bibby here for the next three years. There may be a trade (maybe Marvin) to acquire a player, but if the Hawks decide to keep their first round selection, I think a solid choice would be either Sam Young or DeJuan Blair.

These guys represent a blue collar attitude, a toughness that the Hawks need defensively and the ability to shoot short jumpers.

And in regards to athleticism, Young would be another wing our PG can throw alley-oops to on the fast break...

However, I would like to see the Hawks draft Sam Young. Often Joe Johnson gets the assignment of guarding the 6'6 Paul Pierce or 6'4 Dwayne Wade and the 6'8 Lebron James well I think Sam Young would give the Hawks another defensive option who can defend the other team's best player at 6'6/225... Plus he brings athleticism to the Hawks and can alternate between the small forward and small forward position depending on which opponent we play on a particular night.

A shooter with size who can defend and run the floor... Sam Young!

Seems like when I first saw the mock's after the tourney Sam Young was around 10. Is there much difference between Sam Young and Terence Williams? Sam the better shooter, Terence the better defender. Either looks like a good pick for us. I actually am liking this 19 spot. Seems like a good player will be available there.

    Hawk88

  19. Of course

But it seems like a pipe dream considering all the teams ahead of us that are interested in him. Only way I see him dropping that far is if the unpredictable happens in the first 5-10 picks and teams pick guys they like rather than BPA or whatnot causing a cascade effect where better players are available later and teams that are interested in Williams reasses that they can't pass on a Curry or Holliday.

To what extent do you think Terence Williams can play the point? Situational only or could he put in real time at point?
