  1. Depends on the price, but I'd take him over some John Edwards/Esti Batista-esque bum who doesn't do anything. Wallace is going to be less than a 0 on offense and his defense had declined immensely but he's still above average as a rebounder and shotblocker, so I suppose 10 minutes a game situationally wouldn't kill us if he can be had for the min.
  2. So our problem now is that our backcourt can't stop guard penetration and we have an average rebounding frontcourt so the solution is to make the starting backcourt worse defensively, pull our best shotblocker, and put an even worse rebounder at the 4? Offensively we might be a little better if Horford can pick of some of the inside scoring and foul drawing that Smith leads the team in, but that is at best a question mark.
  3. For us to resign Flip, I feel that the coaching staff and JJ would have to feel very confident with JJ playing some significant minutes at SF and being the primary backup at that position. Otherwise we'll just have too much of a crunch with Bibby, JJ, Craw, Teague, and Flip at the guard spots. Hopefully we get a replacement SF out of Chillz (Bowen) and we can use our resources on shoring up the 4th/5th frontcourt spots and make a determination on Flip once the rest of the roster is more settled.
  4. For whatever reason, Teague's athleticism advantage doesn't seem to show up in the numbers as much. Maybe the difference is more in their games than their actual athleticism but from the little I saw of both of them in college, it seemed that Teague had a much easier time taking advantage of people based on his explosiveness which was one of my problems with draftin Acie. Also, I really didn't like the fact that Acie was a senior and while being good, wasn't absolutely dominant as I would have liked for a player of his experience playing in the watered down NCAA and taken that high.
  5. True, on the other hand, with Crawford on board as the backup 2, we can play Joe quite closer to 35 a game (where he probably should be considering how worn he's looked the past couple seasons) and since Crawford is in fact a super-sub on this team, I'd hope Woody plays him closer to Manu-Ginobili minutes regardless of what happens with Teague.
  6. He's certainly talented but I'm not sure the fit is correct considering what we already have. Maybe if we moved some peices around, but he's not so talented that I'd consider that.
  7. He may have fallen farther than he should have, but I think teams worry about the fact that he's already 24 and in a lot of ways has less room for growth as a player than some similar players who are 3-5 years younger.
  8. I don't love Michael like some others. I think his music is fine but he isn't one of my favorite musicians or entertainers. I also think he was a megalomaniacal oddball. That being said, the fact that he paid that guy off doesn't really make me think he was guilty, just exhausted.
  9. I'd LOVE Andersen but I'm not sure the Nuggets are willing to part with him and I'm not sure he'd be willing to leave his support system considering he's had some problems in the past...
  10. Right, its worth the risk that late in the draft. They say that one of the things that almost always translates is rebounding and Blair can rebound the **** out of the ball. If you can find a guy who can really contribute with the 37th pick, you've done a damn good job. I think it was Hollinger that said, once you get to the 25th pick or so, just stop worrying abou the knees because chances are whoever you pick at that point is going to be a bum anyway.
  11. I didn't watch Teague nearly enough to say whether he can be a starter this season, or ever, in the NBA. I will say that he has something that will help him be at least a contributor which Acie didn't have which is legit legit legit explosiveness. I'm not sure if he's a real shooter or a rythm guy, not sure if he's a real crafty finisher, but if you can break down the D you usually have a decent chance at being a player.
  12. Can't believe the freakin' Spurs got Blair that deep in the second round.
  13. You said that before they swept us too. Looks like they are reacting the the ECF. I thought they shoulda traded Wally+filler for VC this past season. That would have helped them against Orlando too because you wouldn't have Delonte West trying to contest shots from a 6'10 if VC was at the 2 or you could put VC at the 3 and run a lineup of Mo-West-VC-Lebron-Z which they wanted to do but couldn't because Pavlovic was such a massive liability this season.
  14. Looks like we'll use Craw as a combo and then draft the BPgA.
  15. I got no problems with Sienna Miller.
  16. No. I don't think that happened. Furthermore, JJ is a complete moron if he thinks he can just say "get me a Chris Bosh caliber player" (a caliber of player who is better than JJ) and it will just happen.
  17. I'd rephrase that slightly - Smith actually draws fouls at a higher rate than anyone but Zaza (using fouls drawn as a pct% of FGA, from 82games), he just hits them worse than anyone on our team and this season, worse than most players in the league.
  18. You are wrong, yes, Joe has not passed him. Although I have no doubt he will. Pippen's strength was as a defender, he just happened to be a point forward who could score, handle the ball, facilitate, and rebound. Did he fall off in his mid-30s? Sure, who cares? Joe has had one season where he was a better scorer than Pippen, that was his 57 game season in 07'. That was also his worst season as a passer since coming here and he's never been near the defender or rebounder as Pip. Joe is a better shooter than Scottie Pippen and that is it. By the way, what does full proof mean if different than fool proof? Does it mean fully proven?
  19. Yeah, thats true... unfortunately for us he was "a guy" who was better than Joe Johnson has ever been. Pippen in 93-94 (no MJ) was 22-8.7-5.6-2.9 on 49% shooting (23.2 PER; 3rd in MVP voting; 4th in DPOY voting) leading a 55 win team that was a BS foul call against Ewing's Knicks away from the ECF. The next season he put up similar numbers but led his team in every statistical catergory. Joe Johnson, as much as he has done for this franchise has never come close to a) matching those numbers b) leading that talented a team or c) being within the same stratosphere as Pippen defensively.
  20. Joe isn't as good as Pippen and Kobe isn't as good as Jordan... I'm not sure how they'd be better. That being said, sure, I'd give up anything on our team for Kobe to come here but the Lakers wouldn't bite and there is no way Kobe would come here in FAcy unless a) the Lakers no longer wanted him and b) somehow Atlanta could put together a significantly better package than the more desirable teams. Once Kobe got here, assuming we could keep all of our starting lineup, we still wouldn't necessarilly be good enough to win a title if last season's team with Gasol and Odom couldn't.
  21. Could someone sharper and more informed than me tell me whether it might be better to just cut ties with Chil? The way I see it, if we hang on to him and can't find a taker for him in an SnT, we basically waste our capspace this offseason. Is the potential for what we can get for Josh Childress in a SnT any better than what we can get with those FAcy dollars? Is my understanding of the situation off?
  22. I don't think announcing it to the public would be the prudent move at this point, especially if they have a destination for him in mind because they'll want the Raps FO to play along instead of going into "Get rid of him for ANYTHING now mode."
  23. Yeah that is something I'd never thought of... in fact, if we continue to use the technique we have now we are better off with a small frontcourt. If Al/Smith are at the top of the key trying to defend someone quicker than them and they get beat, there is obviously one fewer help defender near the rim. What we do definitely shouldn't be used all the time the way we use it. Maybe for a team like Miami where everyone has to be concerned with Wade and only Wade regardless of who else is on the floor.
