Which makes the Okongwu pick make more sense. Hate to see all these injuries so early in the season. This is why we need to keep Collins.

Okongwu is a rookie, cannot be plan B if you want to win, unless they have seen something really amazing on him but cannot count on the kid as the only backup plan. Wing rotation is more established, get some help at C, makes morr sense than Hill.

So trade Collins for a lesser version of Collins? That's why it just makes sense to pay John.

Well, cannot argue with that, I would try to sign him but I think the situation is getting complicated. I would understand trying to trade him for a defensive upgrade.

  3. Is going to be a tough matchup for us, we lack bodies, height and weight at frontcourt. With Capela injured is more critical to have a backup C. I would rather have Dedmon, O' Quinn or Mahinmi than Solomon Hill that is redundant with Snell. With another big body I would be more optimistic. At the end everything starts and finish on Trae, if he has a good game, even a standard one, we have good chances to win but I am really concerned with the matchup against Morant.

Steph and the Warriors looking similar to a Trae team with no help. Sad part for the Warriors is they should atleast be decent since their supporting casts aren't all rookies and under 25. Crazy thing is their rookie Wiseman might just be there 2nd best player right now. Point is chemistry and the right pieces are what creates a championship team not necessarily superstars. Even LeBron knows this which is why he helps rebuild his teams wherever he goes. We have one of those teams that are built to be a dynasty for a while to come and I can't wait to see it all play out.

(Side note) I don't expect a ring these 1st 2yrs only because I don't see a LeBron allowing that to happen but year 3 into this...

I have been really impressed with Wiseman today. I knew he was the best rookie on the class but he is ahead of where I thought he would be. Minnesota is going to regret passing on him. I think we are seeing the first steps of one of the dominant centers on the next decade. On defense I need to see him more but his offense is already gold.

I know that Per isn't everything but Toronto did not have a single player from this year's roster with a per over 17 last year including Siakam, Lowry and Van Fleet.

Well, the only important departure is Ibaka, Gasol was awful last year. Boucher and Baynes are adequate replacements. I don't know about their PER but they won a lot with the same team last year. I agree they are not better but I don't think they are worst. Baynes is better than Gasol, age matters and Boucher is up and coming player not so worst than Ibaka.

Toronto is well coached but they have questionable personnel. Lowry and Van fleet are nice players but are undersized while Sakam is to me overrated. Losing Ibaka and Gasol will definitely hurt.  Maybe they replace Indy as the 7th or 8th seed but they are not as talented as the Hawks.

Ummm, Lowry and Van Fleet are real good players, Siakam as well, he is better than Collins to be honest. Norman Powell, Anunoby, Terrence Davis, Baynes and Boucher are also good players. They are not as deep as us but they have vets that know how to play and win games. Is going to be hard to beat them, we are extremely talented, that is true but we are so far from our peak point that is unrealistic to think we are better than them.

Think other way if we are top 5 on the east now... In 3 years we would the clear dominant force on the east for the next 5 years.

  7. I think Toronto is making the playoffs ahead of us and I would not delete from the race Orlando.

Is great to have finally some positive atmosphere but this team will have his ups and downs, is too young and I have a lot of doubts about the coach.

I think we finish 7th or 8th on the east and win 2 games on the first round series. Is hard to envision taking Westbrook or Indiana out of the playoff race but who knows...

  8. I cannot understand the lack of love from some Hawks fan, really difficult to understand. I also think he should be on the range of Sabonis contract but the truth is Sabonis contract is a real bargain.  I cannot understand either the lack of love from coaching staff, they barely make plays for him, I cannot understand that specially last year.
Now the only option we have is to see how he fits with the team and specially with Capela. I think he could be on the range of 17/8 which is still pretty good next to Capela and deserves a good contract, clearly not the max.

my main concern is how injured is John now and how is his going to affect his performance and how is going to affect the team. I think he will now play for a contract that might compromise playing for wins.

  9. Wow, I am so disappointed. I wanted John to be a Hawk for the rest of his career. We could have signed Wood to a great contract, now we have a backup making 20 million but he is already 32.... hopefully we can sign him next year but some teams were saving cap space for that FA class, he will have his money and we will have to match it or lose him for nothing, this is horrible mistake.

  10. I am happy with Reddish and Hunter, they show improvement and that is really needed for us. Give us a legit 8 good players rotation. Anyway they need to show consistency. Yesterday some of the shots were too easy for Memphis, Allen scored 13 pts on 17 min and Brooks 17 on 20, they looked as all-stars and were defended by Cam and Hunter, defense was horrible, they were too far, if that is part of the plan or not I don’t know but they were their assignments.

Really concerned with Trae and Young, they are not there, the offensive scheme is awful. The starting unit has lost all their games, that is really concerning and coach is main responsible. Our starting unit is better than Memphis or Orlando, why we are blown by them is a mistery for me but we look really bad out there.

2nd unit has kept us in the games, that was to be expected, we have one if the best benches on NBA, we need to use our strengths. A 2nd unit of Rondo, Bogi, Snell, Gallo and Okongwu or Bruno is amazingly good. Add Dunn and Huerter, just wow.

Huerter need to stop doing too much, his passes are horrible, he had some ugly ones yesterday, his dribbling is not good and he is forcing and taking bad shots, he is an off the ball shooter, that is what he does best, play your game and stop trying to look what you are not. Defense as bad as expected, he need to play to his strengths.

Overall we are good on paper but look like the worst team on the NBA, really bad. We are good fit on paper and we have real talent, the only thing we are lacking is a true 7 footer at C, a backup C. When you are supposed to be good and you look so bad.... coach is on the hot seat, he is the one under the light, if he is not able to make them play well he needs to go. He had 2 years to build the team, some of the guys have been with him for 2 years and seem to be lost there, they should know the system, but they look like they don’t know what to do there as Young or Collins. That has no sense and is really concerning, a real bad indicator. I personally have had enough of LP, I think he needs to go but understand some regular season games are needed to make the decission, but honestly the sooner .... the better

  11. I am not buying THT performance this preseason, he probably is not going to translate to regular season.
I am buying Hunter improvement and I think it will translate to regular season but the questionmark is the consistency, he will have his ups and downs and the performance assessment must be based on all the games, not the best games.
Our best players are Young, Bogi, Gallo, Collins and Capela, young guys need to catch them on performance, hopefully it happens.
As I said I could make a case for Bogi been a mear all-star level with his performance in the bubble where he averaged 20 ppg, 5rpg, 5apg and shot ,420 from 3 pt but I am not doing that. I think he is just slightly above average wing.

  12. Take Raptor, WAR, VORP.... all of them have Young top 15, Collins top 50, Bogi top 100, Capela top 80..... and you need to slide to the bottom to find Cam, Hunter and Huerter, I am not worried but they need to prove first they are legit starters.

Is also true Gallo is top 40, even top 30 but I think his role should go down.

And finally Christian Wood, I was hoping us to sign him this offseason, I prayed footprints it several times.... he is top 50 on any metric you can find and he is going to prove doubters were wrong. In my mind a better signing than Gallo due to youth and fit (defense and shot blocking, can also play C). Houston made a home run there.

I just think this team has one star. Two top 65-75 players at PF, I think Gallo is easily better than JC at this stage. Bogi is a top 100 player and Hunter and Reddish have the ability to move into the top 50 as players this year.

Capela is the one player I think will take a massive jump as well from the top 100 to the top 30. Based on his position, his need, and his impact, Capela will be our most important player outside of Trae.

Trae has to perform at his normal levels and he could easily move up into the top 10-15 if we are winning. If he performs like he's been doing this preseason, we might be in trouble.

I agree with everything except Collins. Collins is better player than Gallo, I agree he has played poorly on preseason, same as Trae. I also agree his fit with Capela is concerning but he is a top 10 PF on the league, he should be fine. Gallo is a fantastic player but is not better than Collins, I could buy they are even but Gallo is going down and Collins is going up.

Also I think is unrealistic to expect Cam and Hunter on the top 50. I would be the happiest man on the world but is not happening. Think other way, a team with a top 15 player, top 30 player in Capela as you are suggesting, top 50 player in Collins and 2 other players in top 50 with a deep bench..... that team should be fine for a championship run and we are not there.

Yeah i'm not understanding this Bogi hype like was some borderline all-star in Sacramento. Like he was some super key piece that had to be on the floor or your team had no shot. People are talking about him like he was Joe Johnson in Phoenix or something. Dude hasn't even started 100 games in 3 years, Kevin has more than that in 2. Dude's name was never even brought up on this board until this off-season. I've even see people say that he was our 2nd best player, like what? He's a solid rotation piece at wing but not some sure fire starter just because he makes decent money. Every solid player is getting paid nowadays.

The unrealistic expectations are honestly starting to make me not like the signing. It's like he's being given credit for another player's production. You'd think he was Bojan Bogdonovic dropping 18-20 the last 2 years or something. Reminds me of when the Falcons signed Ovie Mughelli, a frickin fullback, to a big 6 year deal. The richest for a FB in history at the time. And people were talking like he was supposed to be our power back Mike Alstott type smh he's a lead blocker, nothing else.

As I said I am not hyping Bogi, I think he is a top100 player, slightly above average wing. On the other side I think people are hyping Dre and Cam, be patient with the kids, they need to demonstrate first they are average wings.

I don't have unrealistic expectations for Bogi, I think he should be fine to repeat same numbers in Sacramento, with slight chances to improve them a little bases on the bigger role he is supposed to play here.
