For a whole different type of "football," congrats also to the Atlanta Ravens (formerly the Atlanta Xplosion). They held off a late rally and edged the California Quake 24-22 in Round Rock, Texas to win the IWFL World Championship! It's their second ever world championship title, their first coming back in 2006, and they finished off an undefeated 11-0 season. They play their games at Centennial High in Roswell. ~lw3

Congrats to the Atlanta Silverbacks Women, who went to Seattle this weekend and upended Vancouver and (previously undefeated) Ottawa to win the 2011 USL W-League title! A replay of the championship game (Spoiler Alert: a 6-1 victory) is being aired on Fox Soccer Channel tonight at 7:30 PM EST. The Silverbacks Women will be honored during the halftime ceremony at Silverbacks Park this Saturday, as the men take on FC Tampa Bay. ~lw3
