Who'd a thunk? ROFL...
I'm not getting back on the positivity train. I believe in the talent we have - I am sure that we have the core of a very serious team. I do not believe in the people who manage or coach that talent. It's a nice couple of games, but I'm certain that we will have an equally unimpressive stretch coming up.Look at our 1A/1B and the support they're getting (particularly Griff):
We have the guys. We don't have the system that can do this every night...nor do we have the front office that can figure this out. Until I see something change, I'm done.
Don’t give up my man! We are Hawk fans, this little turmoil ain’t nothing. Lol.

I hope he comes up with a deal that screws the hawks and their idiot family management, profit first motivation. They have let this city down, and we can only hope that when they do sell the team, a good buyer who wants to win (for the right reasons) will get the team.
Don’t give up so soon my man.

Is it me or does this team look like what we thought they would be in terms of sharing the ball?
Trae Young is very good at basketball.
AJ and Jalen! Let’s go!

I actually agree with with making it public that John can seek a trade. It was clear to me his team was leaking all the information to the media. We don’t need that kind crap in the organization. So if his camp can’t find a better situation, they need to sit back and understand the situation and keep things tight lipped and recommit. If he can find something better that brings us a fair return, hen win win.

A lot of our issues revolve around one player but a lot of our franchise value revolves around that same player.
Unless we can maintain our value as a franchise but replace the issue, we aren't going anywhere, anytime soon. To be frank, just moving that issue, isn't a fix without a proper replacement. There is chances, high chances that we won't be able to replace that said issue.
The player I feel for is Dejounte. He's the player getting the most national flak when I really don't believe he's made us worse at all. That price tag was expensive and that's what bothers me.

Koonin 92.9 the Game weekly interview today:
https://omny.fm/shows/dukes-bell/steve-koonin-addresses-article-on-front-office-tur
Synopsis on Front Office:
- Article is accurate.
- Somethings are true, somethings are not
- Is it ideal - No
- Tremendous confidence in Landry and who they are bringing in
- He noted he went off on the report about Nate potentially leaving since that was not true, but he cannot say the same about Amick's article - Lots of accuracy in the article
- Schlenk not involved in the day to day
- Trade deadline is coming up expect the Hawks to be active (brace yourself for lots of rumors), making a trade to improve the team to make it better to get into the playoffs.
- On players name in trade rumors - it's not helpful to chemistry. On the DJ we paid too much for him - it can't make him feel good, but on the other hand they believe he is a high high quality player.
- We are marching with a different voice. Travis' voice is different from Landry's.
- Landy is a very collaborative guy, we want to be more player centric, more collaborative to create that culture that leads to winning championships - we have a lot of work to do.
Wow. I love Koonin. Keep us sane while we go through this.

The real question is, will Tony fire his son if all this doesn’t work out? This isn’t a Jerry Jeanie situation. We are not as successful as the Lakers were to be fooling around like this.

Man oh man…sigh. Ok here goes. I am a Hawks fan and this will not stop that. I hope Hawk Moore is wrong about this being only about money because they have already flipped in value. As a basketball fan this seems like the total wrong way to go to be successful. HOWEVER, I am a Hawks fan and we have never won anything significant doing it they old way and if these owners aren’t all about money, then let’s see how aggressive they can get to take us where we have never been before. Nick needs to come out in public like a man and “own up”to his role and take charge. I don’t care how they choose to run their franchise but I do care about winning. Figure it out guys. Do it fast.

That disappointed this much…
I got 2.

2022-23
Weird that’s it exactly 20 seasons later. I lived in an apartment with my x gf and we got satellite tv so I got all the stations.
Remember I thought we were gonna be really good with Big Dog, Reef and JT. The big 3, I thought they resembled the three in Milwaukee with Vin Baker, Dog and Ray Allen.
NOPE! Individual talent was there but we couldn’t play defense and our offense was inconsistent and heart was lacking… reminded me of this year.
Sadly, that very season, Lon was fired after going 11-16 before Stotts took over and went 24-31… lost season. Nate needs the now. We are through 39 games. 2 more games and it’s half the season.
Trae- JT
JC- Reef
DM- Big WOOF
Capela- Theo
Trae = JT. Lol.
but I am right there with you though. Remember it like yesterday. I still have hope in this team though.

It's not the same attitude. Jordan didn't have thin skin and get passive aggressive when teammates challenged him. I have nothing against NY-Trae taking what the opposite team does and finding motivation in that but being defensive all the time is not a sign of confidence, it's the opposite.
Not true. MJ is incredibly thin skinned. He fought teammates in practice, refused to pass to teammates, he would takes slights from unknown rookies, and hold it over their heads for years. Including Lebron. The man did a whole documentary on the last dance and crapped all over Jerry and the man is dead and gone never once acknowledging he would have nothing without Jerry and hasn’t been able to what Jerry did given 20 years. It is who he is. Trae is rarely publicly defensive. The only time I can really remember is the interview about not showing up to that game. He was defensive because the reporter kept probing. Trae has thick skin but a long memory. He will forgive but won’t forget.

I agree. I'm actually like that personally and it took years for me to try and let things go better. Trae's mentality of using perceived slights to make him play better is one thing but he really does not let anything go. You can see this when he's in any interview where someone asks him a question he doesn't like. Just look at his face and listen to his reaction. It speaks for itself.
now take that and imagine how it is when there's no cameras or media types around.
Worked for Micahel Jordan. That guy doesn’t let anything go ever. Not saying I agree but some people are who they are. It is all about how they use those slights to improve themselves or use it to their benefit. I just bought a pair of Trae Young shoes and on the inside of the shoe box lid, it has an inscription “Always remember when they doubted you”.

You know, going nearly half the season with some of the worst shooting numbers in the NBA might rightfully draw criticism from fans.
It weird though that in some of those same games we won a lot more so…

There is a difference between shot selection and shot proficiency. Cherry-picking a sampling of statistical data that is heavily skewed by his poor shot selection, during a low point of one season, ignores the larger data set that more accurately validates how proficient he is. I acknowledge both his shortcomings and his proficiencies statistically. In addition, I recognize the quality of his game.
He is an elite passer with elite court vision. He is also an elite scorer that can reliably shoot from any spot between the half-court line and the paint. There are very few players in the history of the game that can make the same claims. That qualifies him as a star. If he makes the conscious choice to improve his shot selection, if he can be put in position to get consistent clean looks, if he has quality support, in an effective offensive system (all baseline qualities of a contending team), then he will likely be considered not just a Hawks star, but one of the brightest NBA stars of our time.Post of the decade.

Nothing wrong with criticisms. It was the lack of belief in the dude after he has showed time and time again that he can play basketball really good. It’s crazy how Trae had to have all NBA numbers every game all season just to be considered “worthy” of fans patience. He is the least of our concerns.

Trae played exceptionally on offense but his defense... was What!!!
I saw the mitten get a steal (anticipation).. then I seen him double Kawhi and give him some fits.
There was this one possession when the Clippers had the ball and Kawhi was being defended by Dre (quite well I may add) and Kawhi called for a screen with the man Tre was guarding. Trae recognizing Kawhi wanted Trae to defend him, switched with Murray’s man first so Murray ended up defending Kawhi. Brilliant. Kawhi ended up passing to someone else who missed the shot. This is the one area on defense I think Trae can excel. He is obviously an offensive savant, therefor he should be able recognize what other offenses are trying to do to him and he can anticipate and gum up their offensive sets.

I made a mention of it earlier in the season, so I've definitely noticed him putting more effort out there. FWIW, this narrative is not going away...no matter what he does. If we start winning, there will be less of it. Though honestly, I can see a realistic scenario where we'd be in the finals and people would still be going on about it. Meanwhile his peers, who also have questionable defensive IQ, won't get the same scrutiny...because they are so offensively gifted.
One thing I would like to see more of is Trae getting into the passing lanes. Every now and again you'll see him make a good play on the ball and come up with a nice steal.
Agree. A good example of this is Steph Curry. He is consistently labeled a bad defender but his team consistently boasts a top 5 defense in their championship runs where he avg above 30 mins played.

He defensive effort has increased, especially the 6 games or so. He is not dying on screens, he is using his quickness to frustrate opponents, his deflections are up and he is being vocal. By contrast, Deandre’s effort is lower, he is lazy on screens he uses his hands too much to hold onto players, which is why he gets so many fouls called on him, he is not vocal and he has never been a steals, blocks, defensive rebound guy. The only place he excels is one on one defense when there is no screen.

I can’t think of one. If fact I don’t know that anybody has really done that. Boston when they traded for the dude from San Antonio. They ended up in the Finals.

I mentioned this somewhere else about Trae’s mentality. Some people are just built different. He know’s what drives him and he will use it to his advantage.
