  1. I don't understand people that come to internet message boards and expect everyone to agree with them. "Oh man these people don't agree with me. They must be stupid and I can't stand them." Sorry for not walking the company line.
  2. I agree with you but that's just how things are not. An angry mod tends to get it's way or at the very least they get romanticized like they are somehow fighting the man. Businesses just don't have a lot of luxury to stand for what they believe in especially if it doesn't lineup with a progressive train of though.
  3. Might of been worried about Gearon blackmailing too. This also drives up interest in the team so he might make more money this way.
  4. I think a new owner will clean management out regardless. It's fairly typical and less there's a legacy GM involved. Different vision and what not.
  5. And Wojo has the transcript. I personally think Wojo is a more credible source with all due respect to Stephen A. Smith. He did read off the scouting report but then he kept going with his personal interjections.
  6. And you don't think it's weird as heck that he forced himself to resign? Truthfully I thought what he said was worded ignorantly but I don't think it was racist. His statement was more tame then the mess Ferry rambled off IMO. But all of the ASG could jump off a bridge for all I care.
  7. Truth is whoever replaces Levenson will replace Ferry. That's almost a guarantee. The ASG are also too busy trying to cut each other's throats to worry about Ferry and Koonin is stuck in the middle with no one to turn to.
  8. You don't follow the news? The mob mentality is a ridiculously powerful tool, right or wrong.
  9. He's well respected by someone that just resigned for doing something stupid too. Not sure that's saying much.
  10. Did you read the Wojo article? Everyone knows this started with a scouting report quote but Ferry apparently had his on interjections that went into a rant that reportedly went "on and on".
  11. It's not ironic because it's been my point the entire time. Magic is a legendary basketball player that has successfully marketed himself extremely well. Magic owns the narrative to his life and Ferry does not. He doesn't have anything to fall back on because the general public doesn't know him. Perception is reality. It's not just some saying, it's the truth. Ferry's perception is rock bottom.
  12. I don't think most people feel that way and if they did he wouldn't have a prominent role as a commentator and ambassador of the game.
  13. Players especially in the NBA are their own brand. They will say and do things you wouldn't believe but when that stuff goes public they will run for the hills because it affects their bottom line. How many people know that Favre showed up to Falcon's practice with cocaine smeared across his face? Not many because Glanville kept the press away knowing the storm that would of caused. Most people just know about the alcohol issues. Players don't want the distraction. They don't want to be asked about Ferry all the time and their personal experiences with him. What if they slip up and same something that can be taking out of context? Another storm gets created. Players want to live in their bubbles and do their own thing without having to deal with the consequences of it because that means less endorsements. It's why when the locker room turns on anyone they are done. They will protect each other even when someone is wrong just because it's a defense for themselves.
  14. But you don't think Magic's words don't have a ton of pull? He's one of the more vocal guys in the game and if you don't think the young guys aren't taking what he says to heart then you are sorely mistaken.
  15. Because everyone in charge is stupid?
  16. Magic Johnson thinks Ferry should be fired. I would say your average NBA player puts a lot of weight in that.
  17. They signed Ariza who is a good 3 pt threat and great defender. Their core is great and if they stay healthy will be a contender. You're welcome to that opinion but Teague was terrible last year and "capspace" doesn't get to play even though I'm told he's really good. Oh so for one year that would of crippled us? And we have enough movable contracts to free up a lot more cap brother. Not like we did anything with that money anyway so I don't see why you think hanging on to it somehow is a good thing.
  18. And that's truly the world and it sucks but to succeed you have to go with the mob or risk further ostracization.
  19. My take is that our franchise has a bad reputation and the Ferry stuff just makes it worse. Why do we just accept this? If my boss did this I honestly wouldn't want to work for him because I'm not sure how could his decision making is and that affects me and my family. That's what our current players are thinking about potential free agent targets will think.
  20. No I'm the one being realistic. You're the one taking about great assets we don't have and valuable vets on good contracts that can land talent. That's simple not true. They have two elite talents. One of which carried a Magic team to a finals and the other has had a ton of playoffs experience who also happens to get every call from the refs. The remainder of our cap? We have a ton of cap and Deng was going to get a short term 1-2 year deal. Hardly anything that would hurt the cap. I'm starting to think you don't know too much about our team or players around the league.
  21. So hypothetically speaking you're an NBA player. Two teams offer you similar contracts. Both organizations have fairly similar success and both systems fit you but one of the team's GM had a highly publicized rant that had racial elements. The other GM is squeaky clean and has only ever had positive things said about him. Does that affect the decision you make? That's problem with this. When it comes to close decisions does this display put our team at a disadvantage? If the answer is yes then you owe it to the fans and organization to correct it.
  22. Too bad that doesn't really apply when an organization is trying to sell a brand to the public.
  23. I grew up in NFL locker rooms and I know for a fact it is but rule number one was never let it show. Ferry got caught. Levenson got caught and they will have to go because it's hard to fix the perception of your team when they are still around. Doesn't make it right but that's the price high profiled people pay.
  24. Yeah as long as Kyrie and a promise to trade for Love was involved. Deng is a SF that fits the system and Gasol is probably the best low post player in the game. Great so we are a mid pack team in a bad conference while Houston is a mid pack team in a great conference. Go us... Oh so we're throwing all those eggs in the "hope the Nets are bad" basket. We do not have great assets. We have draft picks that haven't shown a lot and a lot of vets on short term contracts that will probably leave for a pay day soon(Looking at Sap). Al is the only player with any value and he might MIGHT bring a lotto pick but the years on his contract are getting fewer and fewer.
  25. Do you think Silver is backing Ferry because they are trying to protect themselves from the fact this came from one of their scouts leading to Ferry's rant? Exposing the scout might unearth some things the league doesn't want to deal with.
