  1. Joe Smith has a wily old school game so I think his handle should be "Grady". When all is said and done, I doubt he signed for the league minimum. Regardless, this is a big signing for us.
  2. I have to take issue with you on this one. Oberto has started over 100 games in three years for the Spurs and sacrificed his body by playing the 5 so Duncan could play more 4. He reminds me of Zaza with his hustle though he is a better defensive rebounder while being a weaker offensive rebounder than Zaza. There are rumors he has signed with the Wizards but IMO he would have provided excellant frontcourt depth here. In fact, I had Oberto just behind Joe Smith on my wish list for currently available FA bigs. Sund needs to move quickly on signing a quality big FA because the list is getting smaller.
  3. or bluray yet? The graphic novel is one of my favorite books and I thought the theatrical release was decent (though I don't understand why they changed the ending). I hope to pick up the DVD later this week but wondered if anyone really likes the DVD or bluray and what special features were included.
  4. If we are talking about a "vet" big man then I suspect Woody would want Smith, Wilcox or Oberto. I suspect Oberto could be the darkhorse pick here given that he played for a good defensive unit in SA and that he is willing to give up his body in the paint (he played the 5 in order for Duncan to play alot at the 4 spot). I could see Woody being interested in him. Of course, Sund has a history with Petro, Swift, and Sene but I wonder what Woody's interest would be in those guys.
  5. Except Morris has no motor. Morris' lack of motor or heart or mojo or intensity or whatever the "it" is called is his biggest problem. At least Siler has a good motor based on most reports.
  6. I am watching Korolev as we speak on NBAtv's summer league coverage and he has made NO impact on the game whatsoever. This is the repeat of the LV Summer League games and he is on the Knick's squad. While this is only one game, it is pretty shocking that this guy was a high first round pick and, unless he has skills he has not shown in LV, this guy has little chance of making our roster. On a side note, I think Toney Douglas looks pretty good.
  7. I agree with you about the timing of Bibby and Zaza as he moved faster than I expected. I doubt Smoove is on the block now or else Woody is completely in the dark about Sund's trade talks given Woody's statements on the radio this morning. I hope we move quickly on getting the quality big vet b/c I fear these guys will be signed soon.
  8. So far this offseason, Sund has done a good job by approaching this offseason at a steady, even pace and has signed his own free agents at reasonable prices. He has been appropriately aggressive with his own free agents and has not overreached or overpaid. With the Chills tango concluded, we now know how much cap space we will be working with regardless of the eventual Marvin signing (at either the QO or long term contract). With most of the primary free agents already signed, teams are turning their attentions to the vet big men available. I suspect the signings for these guys to start fast and furious. I hope Sund is now picking up the pace and is actively in contact with Oberto, Wilcox, Smith, Rasho, Petro, Shellhead, Ratliff, etc., and preparing contract offers. It is crucial to the success of this offseason that we sign a quality big (or two) and we cannot be too passive in doing so. Thoughts?
  9. Two more to add to the list: F Ike Diogu (undersized but strong 4 that is unrestricted FA) F/C Chris Wilcox (athletic 4/5 tweener) Again, either of these two guys would improve our frontcourt depth.
  10. Here are a few more names to add to that list: F/C Oberto (I believe he was recently released by Det?) F Kris Humphries (he is likely going to be released by Dallas or available by trade) F/C Josh Boone (he is likely available by trade from NJ) F/C Jorge Garbajosa (I read somewhere that former Raptor wants to play state side again) F/C Shellhead (I think he is an unrestricted FA now) Without considering price tag, I think all of these guys would improve out frontcourt depth.
  11. What is your source? If you are referring to the vague, cryptic euro articles then it is misleading to say we have added Andersen. IMO those euro articles are devoid of any credibility.
  12. Call it a hunch but I believe Sund has a plan for obtaining another big along with Zaza and it is not AndersEn. Alot of folks here have seized upon these vague european articles as proof AndersEn is likely to join us. I still have doubts about the veracity of these reports. The mystery big is likely to be someone we have not given much thought to or heard much media noise about.
  13. I disagree with this part of your analysis. By losing Flip, we have only JJ who can penetrate and get into the lane. Alot of posters here take for granted Flip's ability to get into the lane and score, draw fouls, and kick out passes to others. Woody frequently put the ball in Flip's hands at the end of quarters at the top of the key to do just this. Bibby is either physically unable or afraid to penetrate into the lane and Crawford prefers jump shots. If Bibby and Crawford are Teague's mentors then he will also likely develop into a point guard unwilling to get into the paint. This may seem like a minor point but I think it could have a negative impact come game time.
  14. I thought about him as well. Young guy with room to improve. What about Kris Humphries of the Raptors? He should be recovered from a broken leg but the Raps are likely willing to deal him for a song to lower salary (maybe future 2nd rounder?). He is a young power forward with upside and improving defense.
  15. Regardless of whether Ariza or Klezia are restricted FAs or unrestricted, it is surprising that those individuals are getting more media noise than Marvin and Zaza. In fact, there is more media noise about Jake Voskuhl than Zaza. Maybe that is just the result of typical media failings or maybe it is assumed by the Media that Marvin and Zaza will return to the Hawks fold.
