Early Christmas gift idea, you ask?

A crisp, clean JackJumpers Shirley for ya boy.

Your on/off numbers are always stellar, hb.

That alarm is your sarcasm-detector doing its job.

    Oh come on, laugh hillbilly.

These aren’t my numbers, I just interpret them.  Have you ever visited Basketball Reference?  It’s only the most complete box score almanac in NBA history that aligns with about 90% of my eye test.

Bogi was tremendous tonight, unfortunately it came in a loss.

Bogi is always tremendous.  Check his on/off in relation to the rest of the roster:

His shooting and short and long movement always bends the defense for great impact, but his valiant effort on defense is what’s keeping his metrics solid (sandwiched between Ant Man and Donovan Mitchell for total steals).

Shout out to Bruno and Vit making nice strides.  I crap on the Bufkin pick but these numbers show it would’ve been nice to watch him grow defensively if he had been healthy.  Second straight year of sh*tty on/ off for our starting veteran backcourt but no surprise there.

BTW Patty has been playing significant minutes for the heat in 11 games.  Fool is +19/ +18.6 smh.

@Gray Mule, look at these numbers, let's get us a ploddering big because they are extremely productive in the NBA. Rudy Gobert would be our most impactful player by a mile and Edey is way more athletic than he is

@REHawksFan, @thecampster, @benhillboy, I need one of these ploddering bigs

I don’t watch any highlight/ lowlight videos  without being familiar with a player in game.  But Edey’s defensive rating against his team does give me some pause.  The three players I vouch for  from your list (Bam, Portis, Adams) all checked out better in that area.  I value positioning and first step quality (Clint, Theis) moreso than agility (Duren, Claxton)

If he is indeed available to the Hawks his IQ, edge, communication, and charisma/likability all better be grade A.  Horford had 3 of the 4 which is why he easily took the team leadership role from Joe with solid vet support from Lue and Bibby.

I envy what the Knicks and Mavs have, with starter and BU duplication of young rugged screening, lob threatening, rim defending Bigs.  Granted their guards give you the ability to discount offensive on-ball ability from your Cs with elite shooting in and around the paint.

  4. What a way to even up the winning percentages with and without Trae (both exactly .452 all time regular season).  A 53 game sample across multiple iterations of the Hawks is more than sufficient for unbiased viewers to see his impact has and always will be meh.

@TheNorthCydeRises your boy is getting a point boost with every win, WS/48 currently sitting at .116, tied with Alex Caruso, still light years away from his “contemporaries” I’ve tracked throughout his career who’ve lapped him in terms of floor raising.

No way he’s getting to .140, the bet was always in my favor.  His offensive rating could drop from 118 to 114 if he played 4-6 games to finish the season, keep your fingers crossed bro 😆.  He’s not gonna like the new officiating one bit.

Trae needs to become KAT's best friend in these next 24 hours.  This is a recruiting trip sir.

And Trae is sitting right next to him.  Good job.

Towns is on the West’s top squad currently surrounded by 4 plus defenders in the starting lineup.  He good.  He strikes me as the type who would prefer the familiar tri-state area in FA anyway.

  6. The only pass I’ll give him is that injuries have been significant compared to last season when it was pretty clean outside of Bogi missing the first few months and Clint’s two week hiatus.  I knew injuries would happen especially with the dumb minutes Trae plays but it’s been a little worse than I expected as far as a hurdle the team could overcome.  The end of bench depth simply ain’t built to patch up a lineup for even a couple games, only one at a time lol.

It's not on Quin. Few teams have a structure that Miami or New York currently has. Atlanta has a Hodgepodge of personnel

You’re way too defensive of Quin.  He’s ass obviously illustrated by the ridiculous pace leading to the worst points allowed in the Association.

It’s his job to get his players to run sound offense late in the clock and get them to stop the ball on defense, period.  He’s done a horrible job at both in this 76 game regular season sample size with a below average strength of schedule to boot.

A real quality coach overcomes player limitations and  management blunders and finds a way.  He actually likes this core lol: he took the job and says it all the time.  Hell the Grizzlies play harder than the Hawks with a skeleton lineup.  He doesn’t have some proven system that can develop and travel like Thibs and Spo so stop waiting for all the pieces to magically align.  Like I said in Utah, he had a gang of high IQ players propping him up and still managed to flame out in the playoffs year after year.

Podz was my guy but Bufkin cool too. Jaquez would be a bust here

As much as I love Jaquez I feel you on that.  He has to initiate, get post touches, and is only as good as the team defense is.  And Quin’s developmental arm isn’t comparable to Spo’s to put it lightly.

He’s gonna love Delon and vice versa.  Check this video:

His exploitation of post mismatches is gonna pay dividends in the playoffs.

  9. Landry’s public statements mean less than nothing, I’m just glad to hear he is aware of on/off and other impact metrics.  I was doubtful with the way minutes are distributed and especially after passing on Jaquez and Podzienski.  I envision the Hawks front office and analytics department having pizza parties and smoking dope all day.

I think you are overselling this move (Rozier will still get minutes and Delon isn't going to be a huge difference maker) but this is a great fit for the Heat.  He brings more of what they already do very well and is a smart defender.

I'm just not celebrating any windfalls that drop in the Heat's lap because I don't like them.

A player like Delon cannot be oversold.  He’s played over 10,000 minutes on mostly crap teams with a 118 to 110 career rating in the regular season.  +17.8 on/off net in 37 playoff games.  He’s gonna be a force multiplier for the heat.

It’s a shame so many Hawks fans hate the heat.  You won’t truly know how unsophisticated Hawks ball is until you watch teams like them, the Cavs, and Thunder regularly.  The moment I became a Don Mitchell fan he started eating the league alive.  I’m pretty perceptive on these things.

Welp Delon +7.  Heat gonna sign him in the off-season.

22 months late but I knew it was gonna happen.  Hopefully this is the end of Rozier he’s so f&@kin awful.

So ecstatic Point Diff D finally got with the team who will gladly retire him.  He’s gonna be so awesome alongside Jimmy, Bam, and Jaime.  Don’t be surprised at all if they run through the East playoffs again.

Health is critical but this is the best team in the NBA. They are clearly the best team. Next is Minnesota. OKC has elite depth. They will fade in the playoffs. This is one of those years a WC team will win it all.

I gotta see OKC fade to believe it.  I love that team.  I know it’s regular season but they smashed Minny and LA already.  That depth is gonna aid their fourth quarter stamina in the playoffs.  I expect SGA to draw playoff fouls at the same stupid rate.

  13. This is the first season where opponents’ offensive rating is higher with Trae off the floor than on.  I never thought I would see that this late in the season.

He’s doing a lot of the sh%t I used to b%+ch about him not doing in years past.  I’m a Derrick White fan but if he’s selected ahead of Trae imma f&@kin flip.

  14. Clippers have all these guys in their proper roles finally.  Russ could never run a team that could flow offensively.  Harden could never run a conference finals level defense.  Paul George got derailed by LeBron and injuries.  But they all can fall in line behind Kawhi who can totally spearhead a championship level squad.
