  1. Bottom line, D - you nor any of us have any clue what Danny has in store. We are in the infant stages of his rebuild. Maybe you can speed things up, though, if you can get in his ear about your Horford for Diaw, Bonner and Neal swap.
  2. It does seem Ferry's kiss-of-death is his 'We value [insert player]" line. He said the same thing about Josh at the deadline last year, and now Jeff. On a related note, he's done a good job in asset collecting as far as moveable contracts, but I'd wish he could've turned Josh and Jeff into something, preferably on the draft pick front. Bottom line is that the jury is still (way) out, though if JTB's exclamation-point driven optimism is starting to wane, we just might be in trouble.
  3. I didn't get that at all. The host and Danny inexplicably were extolling this talent. I'd be really disappointed if we do sign him, but it remains a real possibility.
  4. As you've said, though, Jeff just doesn't have that killer in him. I'm not enamored with Jennings, but I'd rather him than Jeff, even at a couple million more per year. Monta is another story.
  5. If he signs the sheet, we can no longer do the sign-and-trade. It's match or lose him. What do we think: 8 mil per, good or bad?
  6. Soth - see my thread here. I know your position on tanking, but I want to know what you would've done to field the team to get there, beyond throwing D-Shred and Bebe into the fire.
  7. Side note 3: For all the 'treadmill' talkers, the reality is: we have no clue what to expect. We've completely reshuffled the deck (and still aren't done), and brought in a new coach, which seems to be an overlooked and underappreciated addition in terms of potential impact. Yes, we're still sans a superstar, but at the end of the day, there's no telling what this team can or will do.
  8. I'd like to know exactly what you would have done to make this offseason a success--outside of D12 and CP3. I'm talking specific names and realistic scenarios via the draft, free agency and trades. Even the tanking crowd - how would you have set up this team, beyond just letting the rookies play? I know there have been similar threads, but thought I'd create one dedicated to what you would've done differently across the board vs. just lamenting where we are. Side note 1: I'm absolutely fascinated by some of what I've seen thus far. Names like Mayo, Kaman and Brewer would've switched your position? Wow. Side note 2: Wretch - I'm especially interested in your answer. You haven't admitted to endorsing an all-out tank, just 'fishing in the lottery.' So, what would you have done to create a team that just misses the playoffs?
  9. Would've been nice to snag a name, but in all likelihood, we dodged a bullet here. Dude has chronic knee issues; look what happened to Roy, and Bynum is twice his size. I'd be surprised if he sees any real court time next season or beyond.
  10. Don't they have to move Marion to make it happen? Regardless, Dall is the clear favorite.
  11. Look how one little over-eager, unsubstantied rumor has created an angry mob ready to feast on its own. Years of futility have turned the media and primo free agents against us - we can't afford to turn on each other. We're all we've got, dammit!
  12. No need to pile on the guy. Honest mistake, and a case of over-eagerness, which most of us are guilty of at this time as long-suffering Hawks fans.Let's just move on. Clearly, no will ill involved.
  13. Bingo. He's trying to 'call it', and telling you to 'watch ESPN' as in 'you just watch, my prediction will come true.'Oh, DJ.
  14. Come on, fellas - DJ's son? I'm sure he's a great kid, but this board is way too eager to grab onto something, anything. Then again, we're Hawks fans, so I can't really blame you.Bynum is meeting with Dallas today, and it was reported there is no timetable for his decision.
  15. Bynum signing would have already been broken by the media (even as tight-lipped as DF is). Plus, I think he's still meeting today with Cuban and co., who have to be the odds on faves. The presser is def for Millsap/DMC, as today is official signing day.
  16. Hairy - not to abuse 'insider' privileges, but any insight from your contact on Teague/Jennings/Ellis?
  17. I'm confused by the sarcasm, Wretch - aren't you describing a scenario that actually happened? Whose to say something similar can't again?
  18. I understand the high-reward factor, but the guy won't even work out for teams, even with a year off his knees. Do we really want the headache?
  19. Dieselputer needs maintenance - you lost me at OJ Mayo. THAT would've saved our summer?
  20. If you weren't expecting D12, and I can assume a similar sentiment with CP3, then who exactly did you hope we'd sign?
  21. What exactly did you/do you have in mind?
  22. I'm on board for the blue-collar rebuild, but this would completely dumbfound me, even as a short-term 'asset.'Stein is normally on it, so I'm a little concerned here.
