THe Hawks are winning because they have had one of the top offenses in the league this season. (#3 last I saw) There are 2 thoughts. First would be that if another coach were letting Marvin, Horford, and bibby initiate the offense more then they would have by far the best offense in the league this year. THe other is that by having those players initiate the offense more that they wouldnt be nearly as effective as Joe and Crawford and the Hawks would have been worse on offense. I think you have to be crazy to think that just because of coaching the Hawks SHOULD have the best offense in the league. Seriously- the Hawks have a top 3 offense in the league and you are bitching about the offense. You need to get a grip on reality. What they are doing is working even if its not pretty enough for you.

The Hawks have 2 players who can consistently exploit a matchup with a below average defender. The Hawks have absolutely no post threat whatsoever. How many options do you really think that Woodson has? Let JJ or Crawford initiate the offense while Marvin and Bibby space the floor and hurt teams if they double. Use active bigs to set screens and flash to the basket. I really don't see what else you can do. bibby's days of initiating the offense are done. Marvin has never shown the ability to initiate the offense. The Hawks have one of hte top offenses in the league in spite of all this yet you are still bitching because the offense isn't "pretty" enough?! Seriously. The league with the handchecking rules has made it virtually impossible to stop Joe or Crawford 1 on 1 yet you don't want to see the team run that even though its working. Just amazing.

I wonder if there has ever been a team this far into the season with the best record in the NBA where so many of the fans still want to see the coach fired.

So far this year the coach of the year would come down to Woodson, Westphal in Sacramento, or Alvin Gentry in Phoenix. Atlanta has the second best offense in the league this season yet people are still complaining about Woodson on offense. It really is unbelievable.

I think that Joe had 6 turnovers because The Kings really have no one who is a good matchup for him and the Hawks were running the offense through him. I don't think it has anything at all to do with the fact he played an extra 6 minutes 2 nights ago when the season is just 5 games old. Seriously- you think thats the reason he had turnovers!? I don't think there is any meaningful difference between 32 and 36 minutes in any individual game. Honestly I think that Joe's exhaustion level probably has a ton more to do with who he is asked to guard than how many minutes he plays.

In practice go out and show he is a better defender than Bibby and Crawford. Show that he can give the team a better chance to win than them. If he gets 5 minutes in the first half then do the most with that time. When the Hawks are either up or down go out and show that you are a class above the players you face. Seriously.. you don't even understand the concept of earning playing time?

coachx- I think the general rule is that you play Joe as much as necessary in the second have of close games to get the win. I think its pretty funny that some people have an issue with that. I just don't at all see how playing 36 minutes vs 32 minutes is all that exhausting for a professional athlete.

Morrow is playing ahead of Acie because even as an undrafted free agent Morrow is a far far better player and money has nothing to do with it. Law makes 3 times as much as Morrow does.

When Salim was glued to the bench people were blaming Woodson for it. Then Salim was a free agent and no one else thought he was good enough to play. When Shelden Williams was getting inconsistent minutes people were Blaming Woodson. In 2 stops since the trade it sure doesn't look like Woodson's fault anymore Acie Law now has the chance to prove Woodson wrong. Acie is in about as player friendly a system as he could. We'll see whether the fans were right about Acie or whether Acie just isn't good enough and Woodson simply recognized it before the homers.

Teague will likely play little in the second half of close games. Until he has EARNED that playing time I have zero problem with that.

Acie just never at all showed me that he belonged in the league- I don't at all blame Woodson for not playing a lousy draftpick. Teague I think you want to give 5 minutes to in the first half. If he plays well then you give him 5 minutes (or more) in the second half. Of course if you are either up or down big then you give him more minutes. I think that would work out to at least 15 minutes a game on average over the course of a season which is enough to let him show whether he deserves more PT.

Early in the shotclock I think that switching on every pick is absolute suicide. It lets smart teams set EXACTLY the matchup they want and then they can just eat you alive. Late in the shotclock where resetting the offense to exploit a preferred matchup is more difficult I strongly prefer the switching defense.

He Hawks are simply not as good as the lakers- I think its ridiculous to blame woodson in this situation. I do think its ridiculous how people blame woodson for every single loss- the hawks would seemingly go undefeated this season if the Hawks had a different coach in some people's minds. I think that people don't understand that the Hawks have just 1 guy on the team who can consistently draw a doubleteam and find the open man. (Crawford can draw a doubleteam but its not clear that he can find the open man after that happens) The Hawks have no post players that teams are worried about. Its a perimeter oriented team because thats where the team can attack from. Bibby, Marvin, Josh, and Al all pretty much need to face an unsettled defense to get their points at this point. Thats not Woody's fault.

The Hawks need Joe Johnson more than the Lakers need Kobe. I can't believe that you think that the Lakers would be dumb enough to keep sitting Kobe just because the Hawks were dumb enough to not play their best player.

I just have to say how ridiculous it is for you to put new users on a 24 hour waiting time before they can even post at all. Then when you finally do let someone post you still make all their posts get approved by the moderator!? This is just ridiculous. There can't be enough traffic on this site that you have such a spam problem that such draconian steps need to be taken. You basically don't let someone post for the first 48 hours and I have no idea how long it lasts where you still require a moderator to approve posts past that. I can't even imagine how many people start to post here and leave just becuase of how ridiculous these rules are.

I agree that Paying Craword 10 million dollars each of the next 2 years was a horrible mistake compared to having flip as a 2 million dollar expiring contract.
