  1. Think about it...

Calderon = ~10/3/8 PG... with PG and scoring skills.

He's signed until the 2013 season.

Calderon is a good transition guy that lets them set up Dragic. Plus, he would be a good trading piece later.

They also get a PF like Dorsey.

He's a dirty work kinda Pf who can go in and get Board. They have Lopez and Mortat who can play C next to him. Makes it easier to move Warrick.

Dragic is already better than Calderon. If not, he's just as good.
  2. I'm sure Marvin being out is why JJ and Crawford were a combined 9/14 from 3.

No, but he's usually just out there in the way. Not to mention Josh causes all kind of matchup problems at the 3. Marvin isnt a matchup problem for anybody. It also allows Horford to play pf nd not have to bang with bigger centers.
  3. because, after all, there is a game tonight, right? smile.gif

    Insignificant thoughts:

Is gambling already banned from Air Hawks flights?

How many minutes does Mo get tonight?

Do we have the frontline necessary to fend the likes of Jefferson, Millsap, et al. off the boards? Should we be dominating inside on both ends if Millsap is out of action?

Who will spray Stickum on D-Will's shoes to give Bibby help on defense?

Who will be AK47's primary defensive assignment?

Do the Jazz want a draft-day do-over with Gordon Hayward?

Given the dissolved 4th quarter lead against the Kings, how will the Hawks adjust against a team with the league's best 4th-quarter scoring margin?

    Any cameo appearances for J-Pow?

    ~lw3

    Millsaps doubtful. Okur's out.
  4. I don't want to be too dramatic here, but this doesn't sit right with me if it's a permanent move. I liked Wilkins and did not agree with him getting his already meager minutes cut after JJ came back. He outperformed Mo and looked like the best man defender on the team to me. We needed that defense on the perimeter. He just seemed to be getting comfortable in the offense as well. If this is just a move to get out of guaranteeing his contract, fine I can understand that. Just sign him for the rest of the season afterwards because I honestly think the Hawks are going to need him come Playoff time.

If the Hawks stick with the BIG lineup, and LD has hinted that they will, there's no minutes for Damien with Josh and Marvin at sf, and Joe, Jamal, and Mo at sg. And Mo's contract is guaranteed so they cant waive him. Teague will pushed further down the depth chart too(If thats even possible). Good thing is It also opens up a roster spot.
  5. No thank you. Love can't defend anyone.

Agreed. Thats why you go for 30 and 30 and still lose. No effort on the defensive end. Smoove does a lot more than just points and rebounds. Players have to think before they come into the lane wih Josh lurking around. With Love, they get an invitation.

  6. Has anyone ever seen another game where there were so many easy lobs to the basket for a layup? It looked like the Hawks were playing against stationary dummy's, especially in the first half.

Hope that Marvin isn't out for too long but that fall was pretty ugly and eerily similar to the one he had earlier in the year that kept him out for a bit.

He's had back problems for years. Just look at the way he walks. And this latest fall cant help. Marvin needs to take some balance classes so he can stay off the ground.
  7. That pick wasn't made for this year, it was made for next year as we're going to need a guy who can light it up off the bench to replace Jamal's scoring since he'll almost certainly not be a Hawk next season. I'm pretty sure that the coaching staff are comfortable with Jordan's ability to score so when the time comes that we need him he'll be ready to fill that role, although I do hope that he starts getting some minutes on a more regular basis. I read somewhere yesterday that Jordan is possibly going to the D-League to join Pape Sy and hopefully he'll get some minutes there and be able to work on his game.

Agreed. This team isnt built to win now. Wtf? This team wont contend for a couple more years. For a Title that is. Boston, LA, SA, etc.. is gettin old. Hawks time is around the corner. And JC2 should be ballin by then.
  8. Something that you shouldn't ever forget....

Basketball is a game of matchups.

3 yrs ago, in the playoffs. We took the Celtics to a 7th game. When those same Celtics played the lakers, they beat them convincingly in 6. Does that mean that we're better than the Celtics?

Last year, we swept the Celtics in the regular season. They went on to the championship finals. Does that mean that we were good enough to go to the championship finals?

Basketball has always been about matchups.

The answer to the question is that Orlando lost a lot of guys who we struggled against. VC, Lewis, and they moved guys like Redick and Nelson to the bench. That gives us a better shot at beating them.

I heard they were playing Jameer and Gibert together.
  9. I'll be honest I don't see the reason to even post about Marvin any more. We all know he's a colossal bust that Sund/ASG gave a laughably bad contract extension and now we're all stuck with him for years. YEARS people. We aren't getting rid of him, no other team is going to take him off our hands. He's our Eddy Curry until he's an expiring contract. I'm not defending him, I'm just saying that honestly there's no reason to post about him. He's a bust that was overpaid tremendously and now we're stuck with him.

No one on this site is going to defend him so there isn't even a reason to post about him to "debate" with another poster.

If Rashard Lewis can get traded, then so can Marvin. lol!
  10. Sund is an idiot if he declines in any talks about trading Crawford.

    http://realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5765627

Camby, Miller, Batum for Craw, Marvin, (Throw in a big if we have to (Zaza, Collins or Etan))

    PG - Miller/Bibby/Teague

    SG - JJ/Damien/JC2/Mo

    SF - Smoove/Batum/Damien/Mo

    PF - Horford/Powell/Etan

    C - Camby/Collins/Zaza/Etan

This team is stacked and has no real weaknesses.

  11. Even if they included someone like, say, Batum or Miller (the only two guys other than Roy/Aldridge who might give us value added over Crawford, IMHO), I have to wonder if the answer to Portland was "no" or "not now." It'll be a lot easier to part with Crawford if JJ comes back strong from his injury, but that's still a few weeks away.

Regardless of whether it would be legal to trade him, I doubt the Blazers have any interest in trading Oden.

Roy has no value right now, Not with those knees. And Miller is just as old as Bibby without the jumpshots. lol! Heck, Crawford is better than both Bibby and Miller combined. lol! I'd like to have Camby, but not for our best pg and 2nd best sg.
  12. Bibby

    JJ

    Smoove

    Horf

    Collins

Collins at center until we trade marv for haywood lol.

I think pg is just as much as a problem as center. Bibby cant penetrate, and he cant play defense. Teague can penetrate, play pretty good defense, but he cant shoot. We need a pg who can play defense, penetrate, and shoot. Just a pg and center away from being ELITE with that lineup.

  13. Might as well make him a SF. He insists on taking jumpers and not posted up on the blocks like Drew wants him to.

He does both. What games have you been watching? Drew said he can live with the jumpers, as long as he keeps bringing the intensity and playing good defense. And the guy worked on his shot this summer. If you dont see the improvement, you must be blind. Why do you think LD told him to lose some weight? WAY better than Marvin is at sf. It also moves Horford to pf. With JJ at the 2, Josh at the 3, and Al at the 4, we're a pg and a center away from being ELITE. Btw, this move also moves Marvin to the bench where he belongs. And remember Josh was a sf as a rookie, till Woody decided to start playing players out of position. Drafting Marvin messed everything up.

  14. Is it possible to trade these 3 for a point guard? I know marvin's salary might be an issue.

Nobody's trading for Marvin. Not gonna happen.

7 mill a year for what Damien Wilkins can do for the minimum? Please. And to make things worse, Sund gave this guy a player option for the 4th year. Sund must've been on that good stuff.

  15. Would a trade having Smoove for Gortat work? And maybe one of their small forwards or even point guards for Bibby or Teague (I know they won't give up Nelson, but I'd take Duhon over Bibby). I would tray Smoove for Gortat in a second, and I believe Orlando would like to have a PF. Plus Dwight and Smoove are buddies.

Duhon over Bibby? Smoove for Gortat? Glad your're not the GM.
  16. On the Bibby three at the end following the timeout...........

What was the LAST thing the defense would have expected the Hawks to do in that situation? Exactly what they did. Kudo's to LD!

That play was obviously planned. Very decisive. No hesitation on Bibby's part in taking the shot. No surprised look on his or anyone's face afterwards.

No opposing coach would have ever prepared it's defense for a three-point shot, early in the clock --- from a team in the Hawks' situation at that moment.

Ingenious! And would still have been even if the shot hadn't fallen.

    Just think about it.

    You're on the road.

You're not likely going to get any borderline call to get to the line.

Their defense is obviously set to guard against anything ---- other than one totally unexpected thing.

You only need one open look (any open look) for a chance to finally get a monkey off your back.

    That's how you do it.

    CS

Yeah, Woody woulda told Joe to dribble down to the last sec and either pass it out to Josh Smith in the corner or take one of those late game contested floaters that almost never go in.
