  1. Bibby

    JJ

    Smoove

    Horf

    Collins

Collins at center until we trade marv for haywood lol.

I think pg is just as much as a problem as center. Bibby cant penetrate, and he cant play defense. Teague can penetrate, play pretty good defense, but he cant shoot. We need a pg who can play defense, penetrate, and shoot. Just a pg and center away from being ELITE with that lineup.

  2. Might as well make him a SF. He insists on taking jumpers and not posted up on the blocks like Drew wants him to.

He does both. What games have you been watching? Drew said he can live with the jumpers, as long as he keeps bringing the intensity and playing good defense. And the guy worked on his shot this summer. If you dont see the improvement, you must be blind. Why do you think LD told him to lose some weight? WAY better than Marvin is at sf. It also moves Horford to pf. With JJ at the 2, Josh at the 3, and Al at the 4, we're a pg and a center away from being ELITE. Btw, this move also moves Marvin to the bench where he belongs. And remember Josh was a sf as a rookie, till Woody decided to start playing players out of position. Drafting Marvin messed everything up.

  3. Is it possible to trade these 3 for a point guard? I know marvin's salary might be an issue.

Nobody's trading for Marvin. Not gonna happen.

7 mill a year for what Damien Wilkins can do for the minimum? Please. And to make things worse, Sund gave this guy a player option for the 4th year. Sund must've been on that good stuff.

  4. Would a trade having Smoove for Gortat work? And maybe one of their small forwards or even point guards for Bibby or Teague (I know they won't give up Nelson, but I'd take Duhon over Bibby). I would tray Smoove for Gortat in a second, and I believe Orlando would like to have a PF. Plus Dwight and Smoove are buddies.

Duhon over Bibby? Smoove for Gortat? Glad your're not the GM.
  5. On the Bibby three at the end following the timeout...........

What was the LAST thing the defense would have expected the Hawks to do in that situation? Exactly what they did. Kudo's to LD!

That play was obviously planned. Very decisive. No hesitation on Bibby's part in taking the shot. No surprised look on his or anyone's face afterwards.

No opposing coach would have ever prepared it's defense for a three-point shot, early in the clock --- from a team in the Hawks' situation at that moment.

Ingenious! And would still have been even if the shot hadn't fallen.

    Just think about it.

    You're on the road.

You're not likely going to get any borderline call to get to the line.

Their defense is obviously set to guard against anything ---- other than one totally unexpected thing.

You only need one open look (any open look) for a chance to finally get a monkey off your back.

    That's how you do it.

    CS

Yeah, Woody woulda told Joe to dribble down to the last sec and either pass it out to Josh Smith in the corner or take one of those late game contested floaters that almost never go in.
  6. Larry Drew must really hate Jordan Crawford. Or they can just be signing Wilkins for insurance who knows.

Um, we need a defensive minded 3 on this team. We've got enough sg's.(Mo Evans is a sg also btw) No knock against Crawford at all here. H's time will come when Jamal or Mo leaves. I love the signing.
  7. I disagree that JJ hasn't contributed to the team. His presence on the court had to be accounted for by the opposition. Even with his bad shooting, teams were still double-teaming him. Did JJ hurt the team by shooting poorly, without a doubt. But, he did have an impact on the games that were played, and good bit of that was positive due to what other teams had to worry about.

The reality of the situation is that a healthy JJ makes this team better. To argue otherwise is just demonstrating a severely skewed view on what sort of player Johnson is. In fact, Joe is on par with those 2nd tier stars in the NBA. He's not Kobe or Wade, but certainly up there with Roy and the like.

    Exactly.
  8. Well, we have gotten most of our 12 wins this year without a great deal of contribution from JJ, so I'm thinking we can probably tread water just fine until he comes back.

Guess you dont think his assists, rebounds, and being the teams best man on man defender,

had anything to do with those 12 wins, huh?

Drew said he will play JC2 or Teague depending on what the game/situation dictate. Teague actually played pretty well and Mo Evans was knocking down a few shots. There wasn't any real need for JC2 in the game so I wouldn't really be too concerned about it.

    Agreed.

  9. Your post became a joke at 'questionable conditioning'. So your feeling is he should have been working his elbow out a little more?

Agreed. JJ keeps his body in tip top shape. And btw, it takes time to get adjusted to playing without the ball in your hands. Look at Lebron and Wade in Miami. Players that have ALWAYS dominated the ball on offense have to adjust. You need to calm down man. Not to mention he was still our best man on man defender with a freakin catchers mit on his hand.

  10. Hawks team won't take the next step until they replace Zaza this year. He's horrible.

lol !And Rick Sund gave this guy a 20 mill$ contract. lol! He's the only player that played tonight but DIDNT contribute.

Mike Conley is much improved in his 3rd year. Shouldnt we afford Teague at least that much time, or more? Considering Conley was a lottery pick, and Teague was rated as the 7th best pg.

  11. I dont know why Drew is so afraid to sit him? We have won many games with him shooting 4-16.

We need him healthy for the long haul. Didn't he witness Woody wearing him out season after season????

We've won many games with him shooting 4-16, because he's still been our best assists guy and best man to man defender. Wait until you see Bibby and Jamal out there defending on the wings for an extended amount of time. You'll see what I mean. Probably see a lot more of Mo at sg, and Josh Smith at sf.
  12. Marvin isn't a bust- he got a raise off of his rookie scale contract. Shelden Williams has been discarded by 4 teams now and makes the minimum salary. And at the time there were people who at least thought that Marvin was the right choice- NO ONE thought that Shelden should be a top 5 pick.

Your'e right, he's not a bust. He's close, considering he went #2 overall, but he's not even close to Shellhead(Even though we needed a big body who could rebound, and didnt need Roy because we already had Joe). But still. Rudy Gay woulda been nice, but Woody, Dominique, and BK still had high hopes for Marvin. And btw, the only reason Marvin got a raise is because our FO and GM dont know their azzes from a whole in the ground.
  13. Phillys cleaning house. Collins wants to rebuild.

How bout Mo and Jamal's expiring contracts and a 1st, for Iggy and Louis Williams?

    Bibby/JJ/Iggy/Josh/Al

    Williams/JC2/Marvin/Powell/Twin

    Teague/Zaza

Makes sense for both teams. We need a GOOD backup pg, and more production from the sf spot.

They need cap space and draft picks.

Then we can use Teague and the TPE for another big.

Thing is, will the ASG be willing to pay the rest of Iggy's salary?

    Thoughts?

  14. I believe the Hawks can afford JC but we have to prioritize our players. Do we really want to keep Marvin making JC asking price and let JC go? JC makes much more of an impact on games than Marvin does. If we can get one more good game out of Marvin, it will help our trade of Marvin .

Agreed. Marvin and Zaza's contract are the ones that screwing us up. Bibby's too. (even tho he's playing better this year.) Sund didnt even let Marvin and Zaza test the FA waters before he gave them their deals. What's up with that? Nobody in their right minds would offered them what we gave em.
  15. I remember all of you Drew huggers when he was hired said he would have Teague as the starting point guard. I am certainly not a coach but I believe that Drew has decided that Teague cannot play significant minutes in this league. I personally like to see Teague out there because I know the tempo would step up.

At least Drew has giving the kid some opportunities. Woody NEVER did that. Teague just hasnt taken advantage of it. He still seems timid out there. Signs of the Woodson effect on young players.
