  1. Is it just me, or has Joe turned into the 3rd best player on the team? 4th when Jamal is on. He doesnt even look like he wants to be the 1st option anymore. That might be a good thing though.

Good D, but Drew persisting in letting Craw play PG while Hinrich gets lost at SG is damn ridiculous.

Even Stevie Wonder can see this. JAMAL IS NOT A PG!!!!! HINRICH IS!!!!!!!
  2. MC had indicated that Kirk would be starting in order to match up with Andre better.

Along those lines, he also said in a couple of different places that LD will be tinkering with the rotation again, evidently including a change to the primary starting line-up... and fwiw, I'm anticipating he might go with Teague and Kirk, moving JJ to SF... but maybe that's just me(?).

Reading that Blazers will have Wallace in uniform tonight and that Camby is back from injury... fun stuff.

We brought Kirk in here to play pg, not the 2. If I see this lineup I'm going to be pissed. Either start him at point, or let him backup Teague. Already got players out of position with Jamal at the point, and Josh at the 3.
  3. Teague gets the start tonight.

Starters will be Teague/JJ/Marvin/Josh/Al. Cant wait to see the new guys(including Armstrong). Hope Teague eats Curry's lunch. lol! And Josh at pf. Yes!

  4. per the guys on mayhem in the am, the plan is a lineup of

    hinrich

    crawford

    jj

    smith

    horford

bringing marvin and zaza first off the bench. collins may start on big lineups. change in personnel is they wish to run people out of the building (ie...bibby couldn't). anyone else hear anything else similar with hinrich/crawford starting together?

this is the lineup i've been hollering for. jamal is not a pg, josh is a pf, and slow johnson is our best sf. been saying it for months. hope this is true. now if we can just get marvin to step up as the 6th man. and i'd bring collins and armstrong in before i'd bring in zaza.
  5. And, Horford is playing out of position and is an all-star. If you can't see that it is quite possible that people like yourself are looking at this the wrong way why are you even on a basketball site? I was always told if you can play you can play and I still believe that. Hinrich does not look like he has "it" anymore to me.

Hinrich was unhappy in Washington from day 1. I'm sure he feels a little better about being on a Playoff team.

I voted 15pts and 7asst. I also think he will get us 1.5stl and 3.5reb. It will be improvement all the way across the board. Bibby shot a better % from 3pt but Hinrich will knock down plenty of those wide open 3pts that Bibby had. His defense at the position could make a world of difference. We won't have to worry about the Earl Boykins and Shawn Livingston's of the world having career nights against us.

Nuff said. And dont forget about TJ Ford, Jameer Nelson, DJ Augustine, Raymond Felton, etc..................................................................................................
  6. For those that don't understand how Hinrich makes us better, I'm going to lay out floor impact for you.

Offense - prediction improvement of 5-7 points a game.

Fast break opportunities. Kirk's better defense on the other end of the floor should lead to a couple of fast break opportunities a game.

JJ - JJ will not have to create his shot as often (let's say 30% less often). Kirk's ability to penetrate even on an average level will force opposing points to respect him and keep opposing C/PF's from cheating over toward Joe on the wing. This will give JJ a little more room to get to the lane/come off screens for a catch and shoot.

Marvin - Maybe the biggest recipient of improvement from the change. Kirk's crossover, use of picks and length creates opportunities for slashers going to the rim. Marvin could receive 1-3 more passes moving toward the basket a game. Bibby's height was a hinderance to this effect as small point guards must create space with speed (something Bibby lacked) to create passing lanes in traffic. Additionally, penetration increases the amount of time a player like Marvin will have to line up his jumpers. I contend Marvin being hurried on his long jumpers was as much of an issue as confidence and talent.

Josh/Al - Requiring less top side screens, less full length of the court screens for advancing the ball, less isolation to get their shots should do wonders for Josh's FG% and Al's touches.

Bench - I fully expect the play of the starters to rub off on the scrubs and most importantly Jeff Teague. Jeff has been watching the polar opposite of himself talent wise and has learned little. Hinrich's talent is a closer match to Teague's and should serve as a better model.

Defense - prediction - improvement varied depending on opponent.

First of all, better offensive efficiency, should lead to less fast break opportunities for the opposition every game.

JJ - No longer saddled with having to guard the opposition's best guard by default will simplify the defensive assignments for JJ. Giving him fresher legs and better focus on the other end of the floor. Less switching and more passing means more opportunities for steals and equals more jump shots / less slashing for JJ's man to guard.

Marvin - probably the least benefit as he was not used to switch or guard much due to Bibby's deficiencies.

Josh - biggest recipient. Not having to step out constantly to stop penetration should give Josh more block opportunities as he's in better position to guard his man and get rebounds.

Al - Same answer as Josh.

Bench - When Bibby was on the floor with bench (especially with Jamal), it was a horrific site. With no natural second team shot blocker, teams ran at us at will with their second units. When Kirk is on the floor and now without Mo Evans and Bibby, penetration should be stopped long before the circle on a much more consistant basis.

I hope your're right. I'm actually excited to watch Kirk Hinrich play tonight. Never said that before. lol! After watching Bibby for the last couple of years, I'd probably be excited to see just about anybody. I just hope LD doesnt put Crawford in when Hinrich gets a rest. Need to let Jamal backup JJ, especially with "Mo is less" out of the picture. JAMAL IS NOT A PG! Go ahead and let Teague backup Hinrich. He actually looked good out there wed when he was on the floor with guys that could actually play. Zaza, Mo, Powell, etc... would make Magic Johnson look bad. lol! That's usually who he's out there with. How many assists would Teague have if Zaza could catch, or Mo, Powell, etc.. could shoot? lol!
  7. Sorry. No link. Got a call from a friend. He knows his s***. Says we were in talks with Utah. Said Jamal/Marvin/and possibly Zaza were involved, so we'd definitely get more than Jefferson in return. Take it for what its worth. lol! Dont know why we'd get rid of Jamal after signing Hinrich? We'll need that expiring contract next year. I think? But oh well, aint my $.

  8. I could care less if the players a fans of the trade or happy about th trade....do your job and go out and play with who you got.

Agreed. You can make new friends. Maybe not Kirk and Jamal, but everyone else can. lol! I heard they didnt get along in Chicago. Another trade coming perhaps?
  9. they nets are not really improving and r still extremely bad so they r just trying to shed salary also avery johnson does not like devin harris

Wonder why? He's never liked him. Didnt like him in Dallas either. There's got to be a reason. Btw, it's funny how everyone wanted Avery hired as the Hawks coach last year, and now they want Devin, who Avery hates as a player. lol! So what you guys want an Avery Johnson type Hawks team, or a Devin Harris lead Hawks team? lol!

  10. Why does Avery hate Devin as a pg? He never liked him in Dallas, so I knew he wouldnt be in Jersey for long. Wonder what it is that Avery doesnt like about him? I've never been a HUGE fan of Harris, but I'd definitely take him over what we're throwing out there. All day, everyday. Btw, I think it's going to be Sessions or Brooks coming here. If anybody at all.

  11. It's gonna take a bold move like Horford/Jamal if you want to get a pg like DWill. Probably have to give up a 1st too.

Deron/Joe/Marvin/Josh/Okur wouldnt be a bad consilation prize for losing Al imo. And btw, I think Dwill could bring out the BEST in Josh. Marvin too. But Horford is "untouchable" so this is irrelevant. Ha.

  12. Yall talk about Marvin like he's Horrible...

He's a good defender and can make open shots....

if he wasnt taken so early in the draft would there be so much hate...?

Nope. But thats the point. He was. And to make things worse, we already had Childress and Smith, and were in desperate need of a young pg. I'm not saying he's as bad as Zaza, but the pick just didnt make any sense, considering we were starting T "dribble, dribble dribble" Lue and Anthony freakin Johnson at pg. And we had just drafted 2 sf's the previous year. That why the pick was so bad. At least we tried to address NEEDS when we picked Teague, Acie, and even Shellhead(rebounding, defense). We had no NEED for Marvin at the time. Unless they, for some unknown reason, saw superstar potential from a 6th man. lol!
  13. How are you going to bring Smith off the bench with Bibby and Collins starting. We just don't have enough overall talent as a team to do Smith like Lamar Odom, Manu a couple of years ago, or AK-47. I like the idea of bringing Smith off the bench as a super sub like Jamal is. We just don't have the personnel.

The same way we bring Marvin off the bench with Bibby and Collins starting. lol! If it was up to me, Bibby WOULDNT be starting.

    I'd go with

    Starters:Teague/Jamal/JJ/Josh/Al

    Bench:Bibby/Damien/Marvin/Powell/Collins

    JC2/Etan

    DNP Coach's decision: Mo/Zaza

  14. That can't happen because the salaries are too far apart. We'd have to include Mo Evans or make the deal bigger. I'd do Mo / JC2 / 2nd for Sessions but we'd have to commit to using the big lineup with Marvin off the bench or we'd have to find a backup SF somewhere.

Josh Smith shouldnt be startin at sf. He's a pf. PERIOD! Heck, he's even beginning to stand at the 3 pt line when he's at pf. Gotta keep him in the post.

I know LD wont bring Smoove off the bench in favor of Marvin when we go with the BIG lineup, but if it means starting Josh at sf, he needs to. He's turning into Jumpshot central. Btw, I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. Anything to bring Bibby off the bench.
