Official Playoff Game Thread: Hawks at heat -- GAME 5

I'm sorry I know this game isn't over but Nate has to go. I can't take another season of this shit. -

Literally one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen in pro basketball. -

This is a silly take. Because our system is heliocentric, JC can't set a back screen for Huerter to cut to the basket? That is a big problem with our scheme, no creativity whatsoever. All Nate wants from his offense is the person on the ball to take their defender through enough screens to force a switch so they can attack the mismatch, drive and kick, pnr, or ISO. We have no complexity in our scheme where there are actions happening off the ball to open up our shooters or a wing diving to the basket. How often do you see Trae hitting a cutter from the top of the key? Very rarely, and that's by design. It isn't Trae's fault, its is a coaching issue. We are running Nate's playbook and the results are plain for anyone to see. -

That's because we don't pass the ball quickly or run actions off the ball. Of course all they have to do is pressure the ball handler if there is nothing else going on. -

Sad, but true. Watching the Memphis/Timberwolves series, there are bodies all over the court on every play. Both them teams are playing hard as hell. I wish we had a little more of that on our roster. -
this will either be Trae's wake up call or the beginning of his demise
SalvorMallow replied to shakes's topic in Homecourt
The truth is, Trae is far better and more valuable than anyone else on the roster. I think the overwhelming consensus is that we should be building around Trae, not Hunter, Huerter, etc. If that means we need to move the others to improve the team's compatibility with Trae, we should do it without an ounce of regret. Trae still has opportunities to improve his game, but he needs a secondary playmaker next to him. I think they (and I) are disappointed that Hunter has yet to show that skillset. -

Seriously. This is a scheme thing. We need down screens and flare screens and back screens etc to get Trae open. Him just running around is not going to be super effective especially when our offense outside of Trae is just passing the ball around the perimeter. If you watch other teams, they are running sets to get their guys open, its not just someone randomly running around the court. Even on ATO plays, there is hardly ever any movement. We are ranked 22nd in the league at PPP out of timeouts. Nate just doesn't seem like an Xs and Os coach to me at all. It is misguided to put all of the blame on Trae for not being able to get himself open. -

I really hate that he refuses to play rookies. Maybe if JJ had some minutes this year, he could have been another serviceable option in this series. -

Pull the starters they obviously aren't trying. Get Capela out of there with the hyper extended knee! -

He hits long 3s at a rate above the league average 3pt%. I hate that he does it so early in the clock sometimes but the distance isn't really the problem for him. -
Heat defense playing with fire vs the highly ranked Hawks offense
SalvorMallow replied to JTB's topic in Homecourt
Not as a starter but I think he needs 36 minutes. We gotta run more Trae bogi Huerter. It's our most potent offensive lineup. This lineup can get Trae loose and grab some O boards. Bogi Collins pnr would be nasty with Trae and Huerter available to run second actions or catch in the corner. -

As long as we don't turn the ball over, I don't think our defense or lack of size is that big if a problem. Heat struggle to score in the half court and really aren't a big or athletic team. Play more Okongwu than Gallo for rebounding and D and we should be straight. I say we start Trae Huerter Hunter Collins Okongwu Then bring in bogi for hunter after about 4 mins. Let's abuse their switching defense with slip screens and kickouts to the shooters. -

Mitch Robinson isn't nearly as good as Capela. How is this even a thought?
