I agree. This is trading the rights to Erickson for Prince/19 is probably our best moves. Wiseman or Toppin at #6 Drafting Cole Anthony, Maxey, Kira Lewis Jr. or Maledon at 19. Prince covers our biggest need, competition for Hunter at SF. I'll also look at Lonzo Ball, Delon Wright, Frank N as well as backup guards who can play both guard positions off the bench. We still have to hit the salary bottom and I don't know how we can do that but oh well. The Horford/21 for Dedmon deal works but some of us hate it, I don't love the contract but I love the value of the players involved for us. There is always landing young players+vet to free up salary like Zhaire Smith/Mike Scott/early 2020 2nd rounder for #50

Early 2nd rounder. Same as all of the guys like him. Raw but hard to find, very talented with the right measurements, can be good in a couple of years. Think Gary Trent Jr. Not someone that can help you in year and maybe in year two but not likely. A good pick for the Hawks if we somehow end up with a late 1st or early 2nd He really needs body development more than anything

I am not sure his range is consistent. Some teams have him in the mid 1st, most early 2nd. Like most in this draft, their range vastly varies

I don't know who their targets would be in that range. They do have a list but when we aren't in that range, less focus goes to it. Usually teams like Atlanta have players in their main ranges and when someone falls too far, they consider the possibilities of moving up for the said player
  5. I agree. Sometimes too many young people in the room can go for unnecessary risks but while too many older people can be risk averse to an higher degree and sometimes they surprise you and are young at heart or very wise for their years.

I keep saying this and will continue to say it, Atlanta is a lot higher on Toppin and Wiseman than some of our media members want to say it. Wiseman is literally on most teams top 5. Yes, some do have him outside of the top 10 but some of those teams aren't in position to land him. That said, chances are slim of a move up for any prospect for us. We don't want to trade any of the core 5 and like all teams in the top 10, are resistance to the idea of trading a future 1st.

He says, there will be as many trades if not more this year but in the top 10, it will be extremely hard because no one really wants to trade a future draft asset in this draft. 2021 is marked by most scouts to be MUCH higher than this year. Teams are talking that the american pool is as strong as it's been in years. He said, Deni, Ball, Wiseman, and Anthony will all be lottery picks in 2021 but most of this lottery would be on the outside looking in. They are hyped about next year's class. Especially the top 7 guys that would all be top 10 in this year's draft. Edit: He compared it to 2018 but without Luka but Cade is the American Luka he joked. 2021 is a wingman draft. Everyone wants to be in that draft.

So true. Usually it's for a good reason even if you don't realize it at the time.

Update: Most of the news has been about the protest and the tragic events that took place in Kenosha, WI of a Black man who's the father of beautiful children. As for as the draft, here's what I got: MIN is looking at: Ball, Wiseman, Deni, and Ant. They are listening to calls and making calls. So far, the marketplace feels their cost is much too high. I heard one team that stood out was Toronto who had reached out to us about the pick if we landed it a couple weeks back. It seems like they have an interest. Toronto is interesting because the talk out of Toronto is FVF is available if you are willing to pay more than Toronto wants by a good margin and you are offer a starting job and a face of the franchise role. PHX, NYK, and several others are in. Golden State really likes Deni a lot. Not as much as Ant but a lot. They really aren't going to draft Wiseman is what I've heard. Charlotte is okay with Ball and Ant but they want Wiseman but not enough to move up. They are one of the teams looking to add players but they want wise deals only. Nothing crazy. They are open to taking extra years too. They have interest in Blake Griffin. Chicago hasn't been as open. They have targeted about 6-7 players so far. They are highly into Deni. They really like Killian. This might be the highest spot for Hayes. Most people see him as a 6-14 prospect in this class but international scouts love him which is causing a divide. Considering Artruas is the GM, Killian might come off the board here. Cleveland has Ball/Wiseman/Edwards at the top of their board but they like Deni, Patrick Williams and Okoro a lot. Especially Okoro. Atlanta is hot on 7 prospects. They have been extremely active as always but nothing seems official. I was told to my guy that the chances of us trading down or up is not as high as it is that the Hawks trade back into the 1st round. Atlanta is expected to be the most active team AGAIN in the draft. Detroit is looking at a number of guys: Okongwu, Toppin, Vassell but they are leaning on getting a PG. He said Haliburton, Hayes, or Ball will clearly go right here. DET wants to land their PG of the future in a strong PG class. New York has been targeting PGs and shooters who can defend for the most part. They are liking Patrick Williams and could be the 1st team that strongly considers him at this slot. PHX is looking to keep their pick my guy just updated me on. SHUCKS! He said they are targeting Vassell, Okongwu, Haliburton, Toppin, Saddiq Bey, and Aaron Neismith. They wanted high BBIQ players who can play within a system and rebound. He didn't give anything beyond the top ten in terms of the draft but mention and I got the okay for this that Lonzo Ball is available and his price tag is very reasonable. His value is at an all time low as he's expiring but he does have value. Pels have options but want to also be players in FA to add some guys. I was told Gallo or Millsap are their targets other than re-signings. Almost forgot, he had nothing new on Washington. Same they want Okongwu or Wiseman but Jalen Smith could become an option for them.
  10. Wouldn't they just give it to Trae like usual Yep and Atlanta milly rocked the phonecall asap
  11. You think the coaches will vote JC over these guys? We know the kids voting KD as a starter
  12. There is a lot of competition for that forward position. Idk even he played very well. The guard spot is weak in the east He's not overtaking no one from 2020, maybe Jimmy Butler but KD is overtaking him so. Unless he has a legit breakout year, its unlikely.
  13. Contenders have zero interest at trading core pieces. Brooklyn called us to offer Dinwiddie for JC. They want to add, not subtract core talent
  14. He looked solid in the bubble before the the playoffs. The playoffs was a bad too for Embiid. He had a 0 WAR after having a 5.7 WAR during the regular season. Boston was simply a terrible matchup because Philly had no lead initiators or spacing
  15. You don't understand. You think I am saying 16 million+17 <<< Horford value with 89 million left at most +21. No, I am saying a team like Minnesota is willing to take on extra years of a better player than Johnson + 17 far more than trading him and an asset for cap space. Especially a team with 21 million cap space and a non playoff team. To a team like them, Johnson is a cash filler asset.
  16. TS wants to resign him, not me.
  17. All you have to do is go to the Wolves message board. They are talking about getting a good player like Aaron Gordon for 17 and James Johnson which obviously won't happen but that's the type of deals teams like this look for. Teams trading mid 1st for cap is teams in the LT, contenders or trying to sign stars. Basically Brooklyn and Philadelphia. Not teams like Minnesota
  18. I see your point on Al's contract. James Johnson is garbage. That's a pointless trade and does Minny even want to do it anymore. This was an option more at 3-7 then at #1. They might not feel the need to trade #17 to get rid of that contract. It's not like they are in the tax or need to free up cash to resign guys. They have 21 million in cap space based on 115 cap room Lottery teams really don't trade 1st rounders for cap room
  19. The biggest issue we have is, we have too much cap space and damn near no PT. At PF, 16-20MPG open. At C, we have our 2nd biggest opening because we want to preserve Capela. 20-24 MPG At SF, we have our biggest, we still don't know who's the starter. Is it Cam, Hunter, or an outsider? At SG, it's damn near topped out. You gotta imagine Cam/Kevin eating all 48 mins. As the 3rd SG, you are probably looking at the G-League for PT. At PG, if we resign Jeff, we are near our max but like we got creative with Goodwin, you gotta think the 3rd PG can still get some mins. Trae can't play every game at 35MPG and in today's NBA, we really need to look at limiting his mins to 30-32 range. He was burning out in the 2nd half of the season. We need to preserve him some this year.
  20. I do think there are two trades that standout as decent trades moving us forward that are bad contract deals + asset. Not just the, hey, we need to get out of this contract trade I prefer. Al Horford/Zhaire Smith/21 for Dedmon/Bruno Prince/19 for the rights to Marcus Erickson I'll prefer the get this player off of our roster for salary relief more deals but I do know they are more competitive. Horford has a slightly competitive market but not anything better than this deal. It's some garbage for the most part as well and doesn't help them much down the road. The plus with these deals are replacing Dedmon who was a .3 WAR player after a horrendous situation that seen his WAR in the negatives was traded back to Atlanta and now sports a .3 WAR after having a career high 2.5 WAR in 2019 to Philly as well as Bruno who's sports a -.3 WAR didn't mesh well at all with John Collins and struggled in general adjusting to the NBA when the G-League should have been more likely. Bruno did show flashes of good play early on in the season and was clearly our 2nd best rookie early on and close to even being our best rookie. He also showed flashes of being a good backup in the future which is decent for year 1 and a 2nd round pick. For Philly, the deal is mainly about freeing up cash for the LT, getting close to 16 million in TPE cash, and because they would be trading the best player in the deal and Zhaire/Bruno is a wash. While Zhaire Smith did nothing good at all in Philly, he did show signs of success in Delaware shooting 36% from three, nearly 80% from the line and a 63% TS. Now, this is the G-league and he's in year 2 which is not a great sign, but he does show flashes of being a two way guard who can be a good change of pace guard in the future. Horford who's a former multi-time All Star owed at the most 81 million which can be reduced in the last year if cut to 14.5 million. He sports a 4.1 WAR playing 2.1k+ mins which is excellent for a starter/backup player but a horrendous situation of a player that used to sport a 7.1 WAR in 2019 which is one of the top 5 centers in the NBA type of WAR earning him his contract even at this age. Obviously, even at this stage, Horford is a rich man's version of Dedmon but at this cost, is that a good thing. His WAR did improve .3 with post COVID play but his playoff performance which was rightfully trashed earned him a playoff worse of -.3 WAR and exposed how poorly of a fit he is in Philly with their current personnel grouping. He did fit very well with Simmons, even more than Embiid but a good margin which gives Philly fans hope in the move but maybe not at this gargantuan price considering his age. A 1st is to offset the cost of Al's contract and Bruno gives them a potential center who can take over in 2021-22 when they ultimately release or trade Dedmon. For Atlanta, Horford gives us an excellent 20-24 MPG big who can fill in for Capela in year one coming off of an injury which is quite huge for us as well as he can give us what Millsap gives to Denver. An exceptional vet big who knows how to add value while on the court for a short time period. Can help with the younger guys. We have more of a need for wings, then bigs since Skal is a FA so Skal makes sense to bring back over Bruno who's less ready to help us right now even if Bruno is a better long term play. 2nd deal is obviously Prince/19 for the rights to Marcus Erickson. There is probably as much good for this deal for Brooklyn than Atlanta. Frees up a roster spot which they need. Gets them out of a contract that they are overpaying by 16 million/2 years, they don't really need the pick, and we have a great relationship with them helping them land KD/Kyrie. For us, Prince is a .6 WAR player which would be the best WAR on the team as a wing last year and he's a .1 WAR player in Atlanta in 2019. That's not really much value at all added. Basically, he's just an average NBA player. He's a 3/no D player who's a good cutter and excellent corner three point shooter who's turns the ball over a tad too much. Overall, he's always been an average SF which is better than what we currently have on this roster. Reddish who's a 2/3 played below average in the last three months but was really productive as a quip to his tremendous talent and natural skill and considering his awful start which seen his WAR as the NBA worst in early DEC -3.1, he finished with a -.1 WAR which was solid for a rookie playing the minutes he played. Hunter struggled in his year 1 transition to SF with no vet help sporting a ROUGH -1.1 WAR but he will be much better in year 2. After this trade, it's no guarantee that Prince won't just overtake Hunter as the starting 3 even though I don't expect it. Erikson has clear trade value. Some will say, easily higher than Bruno's which really appeals to a team who can't add a player via trade due to roster spot limitations. This also takes them out of the LT. This one is an easy win for Brooklyn. For Atlanta, adds salary which they have to do to hit the floor and gets us our lucky #19 overall pick which got us current Hawks: Kevin, JC, and Jeff Teague. Jeff, a former All Star, JC who has the potential to be one and Kevin who's an excellent potential 6th man has been a great pick for us and could be as well in 2020. Of course, gets us Prince, who probably should be the starter based on last year's wing play. This deal makes sense for both teams. There are more deals out there as well. This one gives Atlanta the potential of this considering we want to resign Jeff and Skal: Trae/Teague or Goodwin Cam/Kevin/Zhaire De'Andre or Prince/De'Andre or Prince JC Capela/Horford/Skal We could obviously use another PF considering Prince best numbers are all at SF over the last three seasons and Skal is a 5. We could also use another big wing behind De'Andre and Prince. We could use a backup PG of the future as well to play behind Trae and Jeff and split development in CP/Atlanta.
  21. All of the wanted FA don't want to come here due to PT and wanting to be in our core
  22. Harris would not Bertans but Harris doesn't want to move out of NY. That's why the NY teams are his targets and they both want him bad
  23. There are a lot more players available than just bad contracts and over priced rentals
