People need to know, we tend to learn from our mistakes. We also have A LOT more data and tape in 2018-2020 than 2013-2015. Back then, PER was the holy grail. We got so many now that we look at so many things we didn't have available in 2015. Also, that was an era where UK was loaded. We didn't know Towns could shoot it like this unless you actually had private access. I didn't know Booker had anywhere near this amount of skill. He has generational skill. I didn't see that at UK, he was mainly a volume shooter like Affoalo but better at shooting. His defense was horrendous as well. I think we need to know these things. Some colleges fully showcase the best of their players, some don't especially the really talented ones with the young prospects. If I saw what I seen in Booker in the NBA, I would have never had him drafted outside of the top 3. Same if I seen Okafor in the NBA and how poorly he translated, I would have never drafted him in the 1st round. That's why scouting is hard. You gotta judge how they will translate to a game that's much harder for some, more than others.
  2. I can understand that logic but I know what's on the market as does he. He can't put expectations on LP of the playoffs with this young ass squad and no quality vets. It's literally impossible. These kids don't know how to win.
  3. He was an amazing PF in his prime, he's been primarily effective as a center in Philly. He was a PF in Boston when it was him and Baynes on the court at the same time. It didn't work with Embiid though. In Atlanta, he will be a 5 who spots at the 4 and splits mins with Skal as a backup to JC.

This is true, I had to go back and check on it. I always thought I was high on Booker but seems like I didn't get high on him till the very end of the process like I did with Herro and P.J. Washington. Hunter was one of those guys who had the metrics for that time, the skill and he was a good player. Didn't translate to the NBA at all like Jenkins. Booker was a 6th man who was inconsistent at everything but shooting open threes. He was the 7th or 8th best player on those Wildcats team. I simply didn't see it and boy did I miss initially but he did move up on my board a lot like at the end. Even said so in the thread. I said it before, I have a tough time with UK prospects and always have. LeVert was one I caught early on.
  5. 1. We got an expected 46 million with Horford on the roster next year. Obviously once you add this years picks, that number will go down, but we are still at 36-37 million not including cap holds which gives us room for the max without any trades. 2. If someone like Giannis wants to come, we can find a way to sign him and keep John's cap hold. We can trade or buyout someone in portions that doesn't harm our cap. We can trade players like LAL did to complete the AD trade for salary reasons. You keep saying this shit as if we got idiots and high school kids as our GM and our capologist is me or some knucklehead on this site. Michelle Leftwich is one of the best in the industry. I'll say we need to jump on this. If you don't like it, just say you don't like it, don't try to use cap space in 2021 to sign Giannis as the reason. If Giannis wants to come to Atlanta. We can find a way to do that easily. While maintaining JC caphold for trade reasons.
  6. Great thread. I can write about 25 pages as to why Al would help this team tremendously as a 6th/7th man. As Steve Kerr called him, the perfect modern NBA center. The Hawks adding him as a 6th or 7th starter would massively change our bench as well. Look at his impact in Philly as a bench player. There bench is middle of the pack and its garbage without Al. On the same level with us if not worse. Al is an impact player. Ask Toronto, you can never have too many high quality vets who know how to win and can help you win. You see what old ass Vince did for us in year 1. Without them, we are probably going to be looking outside of the playoffs again. I hope we can get someone like Harrell, Al, etc this offseason.
  7. I am. 110%. He will provide the impact, the value, the ability to make others around him better, that playoff experience that we currently lack, and that elite backup that we are currently missing on this roster.
  8. With that squad, it's what I see and feel. As we stand, as well as add just decent but nothing special pieces, 38 wins. 38-44
  9. Collins is likely playing 32-34MPG, Al's likely to play 6-8 to mpg at PF. Hunter likely to get mins at PF. What mins do we have left
  10. Mo went to the wrong franchise. He went to Westtown where the coaching is garbage. All he did was get a lot more skilled but was a trash player overall. Goes to Texas, improves A LOT! Basically leaves a below average player which is a normal improvement for a college basketball player. Not special, just normal. Goes to the Magic, he hasn't improved in two years. All he's gotten was bigger and stronger. He's 252 now but he's still a below average player. This is why you want to avoid some franchises. As far as JJJ, he's a good player but he's nothing special to me or close.
  11. Tankathon had the Hawks moving down two slots to six. MIN/DET/WAS/CLE all ended up with the top 4 picks. NY moved up from #7 to draft Ball. Traded two Dallas picks, swapped their own pick, traded a top 10 protected 2021-2022 where it goes to unprotected in 2025. Hawks drafted Issac Okoro at #6 Hawks traded for Enes Kanter, #14 overall pick for cash considerations (6 million), OKC 1st 2022(Thanks @JayBirdHawk) and a TPE for Kanter Hawks took Killian Hayes at #14. Hawks already had a young vet PG in Delon Wright: (Delon Wright for Dewayne Dedmon) Hawks traded for Al Horford, #24 overall pick for Enes Kanter Hawks drafted: Xavier Tillman at #24 Hawks drafted: Sam Merrill at #54 In FA: We resigned Skal and signed E. Moore from NO Our roster ended up like this: PG - Trae (34/48 mpg) SG - Cam or Kevin or Hunter (82/96 mpg) SF - Cam or Kevin or Hunter (82/96 mpg) PF - Collins (32/48 mpg) C - Capela (26/48 mpg) 6th man - Cam or Kevin or Hunter (82/96 mpg) 7th man - Al Horford (26/48 mpg) 8th man - E'twaun Moore (14/96 mpg) 9th man - Delon Wright (10/96 mpg) 10th man - Isaac Okoro (10/96 mpg) 11th man - Killian Hayes (6/48 mpg) 12th man - Skal (0/48 mpg) 13th man - Xavier Tillman (0/48 mpg) - A lot of time in CP 14th man - Bruno (0/48 mpg) - A lot, lotta of time in CP 15th man - Open spot Two way contracts - Sam Merrill our 2nd rounder who's going to be in CP and someone else that TS likes. I predicted this record: Projection - 54-28, 4th seed Eastern Conf playoffs. 1. Milwaukee - 61-21 2. Brooklyn - 60-22 3. Toronto - 55-27 4. Atlanta - 54-28 5. Boston - 53-29 6. Miami - 52-30 7. Indy - 50-32 8. Philly - 50-32

  13. Cam outplayed his projection based on his expected rookie season by 538 in WAR/MIN.
  14. Hello, Welcome to the Hawks off-season contest. Let's see who can come with the closest off-season to the real thing. Note, this will be hard af so anyone can win. Let's start: Hawks Mock Off-season 1. I will post our roster 2. Do to tankathon mock draft simulation. You can change the players picked but do not change the order they gave you after your first sim. 3. Post your trades before the draft - All Teams plus Hawks separate. 4. Do your FA signings 5. What's your opening day squad look like? PG - Trae (34/48 mpg) SG - Cam or Kevin or Hunter (82/96 mpg) SF - Cam or Kevin or Hunter (82/96 mpg) PF - Collins (32/48 mpg) C - Capela (26/48 mpg) 6th man - Cam or Kevin or Hunter (82/96 mpg) 7th man - Dewayne Dedmon(20/48 mpg) 8th man - Key Vet (16/96 mpg) 9th man - Rotational (14/96 mpg) 10th man - Rotational (14/96 mpg) 11th man - Back of the Rotation (2/48 mpg) 12th man - Back of the Rotation (0/48 mpg) 13th man - Back of the Rotation (0/48 mpg) 14th man - Highly likely Skal (0/48 mpg) 15th man - Bruno (0/48 mpg) Pre-draft trades: Hawks: Trade 1: Delon Wright for Dewayne Dedmon Why: We need a two way backup PG, they need a center and want to clear more cap for 2021 as Burke has outplayed Wright is a min player. Easy deal for both teams. Trade 2: Enes Kanter, #14 overall pick for cash considerations (6 million), OKC 1st 2021 and a TPE for Kanter Why: Boston is 3.8 mil over the LT for 115 million cap and if it's now 109, they are 9.9 million over. They get a future 1st in a strong draft that could convert, 6 million for their LT bill, and Kanter's shaves 5 million from their bill as well. They still have three picks in this draft. Kanter will be moved in the next deal. Trade 3: Al Horford, #24 overall pick for Enes Kanter Gets us another high caliber starter level player in Horford who will be our backup 5/4 in a perfect fit system. The late 1st rounder is due this his 90 million dollars left on his contract to fulfill at his age. Others: DET - Blake Griffin, Tony Snell for CHA - Batum and Zeller MIN - 1st overall pick for NYK - 7th overall pick, Knicks 1st 2021 (top 10 protected - 2021-2022, top 5 2023-24, unprotected 2025) Dallas 1st rounders 2021 and 2023. Philly - 50-32 No one else will have a winning record in the east. 9th seed will be Washington and they will be 40-42. My projection for the Hawks is 40 wins to 54 wins. Three big things for the Hawks into 2020: 1. Get a star bench player. Al Horford is a star bench player to me. He makes everyone better. Without this, the bench could be looking like one of our young aces and a bunch of okay and young bench pieces. That won't cut it. We need a star bench player. Examples: Harrell, Joe Harris, Zack LaVine, Evan F. Basically, a legit good starter who's basically a 6th starter. The difference in wins is 10 games. Worth 44-54 wins. This will make my projected bench go from decent which is miles better than last year to one of the best in the NBA right there with Toronto and Dallas if not better and clearly more talented. 2. Cam Reddish must be at least average as a Basketball player next year considering his insane talent and skill. We all know Cam will be produce considering he improved to below average after DEC and became one of the best PPT players in the NBA. We need to see another major jump from him. If he does like John and skips two levels going into his Soph year, watch out! We could be really really good next year. Cam stays the same 40 wins, improves to average 44 wins. I am not expecting too much improvement from John and Kevin. I am expecting a comfort jump from Hunter and a major jump from Trae as well. 3. Everyone must improve like we did in LP's first year. It's that simple, every must he better or else - 36-44 wins max no matter what we do.
  15. There is a difference defensively.
  16. Atlanta can make offers. The issue is teams value their role players. For example: MIN traded HOU 1st to Denver for Hernangomez and Beasley. Both players they like and are committed to resigning as they also have their rights. I personally think the reason the Hawks are trying to buy 1st round picks and move up in the draft for a PG is the extremely barren PG position. There was this idea on the online community that getting guys like Dunn and Melton or Dragic is possible but Dunn missed the games started mark which lowered his QO and now is at a reasonable resign level. Melton was never leaving MEM. They have his rights and want to resign him and Dragic wants to return to Miami and they want him back. If he goes anywhere, it's to Dallas. Teams saw this class being trash a mile away last year and loaded up on depth in 2019. Atlanta loaded up on bad contracts for assets as much as they can and ended up the way we ended up. The trade market is suppose to be rich because of COVID but if the proposed mark is 109 million. That still doesn't help us too much. GS isn't trying to trade Looney who's their only asset outside of their core. In fact, they consider him core. Boston doesn't want to be in the LT and are selling 1st round picks and want to move Kanter contract for one to get out of the 1st round where they have multiple picks but I was told they don't mind bitting the bullet for one season till they don't get what they want as well. They want to keep Semi O and Theis and don't mind going into the LT to resign them. There was a consideration that they wanted Gordon to opt out and resign him at a lower market rate but I was told that his play has been so good that his market is higher than expected and they would rather him do it in 2021 instead where they have more options to add talent if issues arise. Brooklyn doesn't give a damn about the LT and are willing to hit it every year as long as they got a chance to contend. Philly is being lukewarm about it at the moment but he is saying they really want to get out of the LT which is why Mike Scott can be had for nothing but his contract isn't really that great or bad. His 3pt percentage has declined and his numbers dropped across the board due to Horford presence. Horford is obviously available but what I got last night is that they weren't inclined to want to give up a high asset like a real 1st with him. That said, Philly wants to get out of the LT like Boston but they might be willing to bite the bullet as well he said. Kevin Love market is still the same is confirmed. They want a high asset, real 1st of any type for Love. Still no one is interested in that type of deal obviously. He said teams don't want to bite the bullet to pay the LT but he said expect the MLE market to be extremely busy this year. He said he doesn't expect the many players to opt out who have the option but Jerami Grant (likely opting out, looking for a starting role) and Evan Fournier (agent wants 23+ per year, Hield money) are strong options to opt out if they get what they want, Jerami will opt out he said. He sees the writing on the wall in Denver but Denver wants to keep him which has been confirmed. I find it hard to see Fournier or DeRozan to get what they want considering they are vets and they don't add that much value but SA wants to resign DeRozan and somehow, there is a market for Fournier, why? Idk
  17. I hope he does but it's not exactly his fault if he doesn't via FA. The market is barren and the players who can help are wanted and seeking PT or starting/core situation which we lack.
  18. Taylor Jenkins is also Bud's best friend. That was in the bag. Trae always will get shitted on, on that site till we start winning.

I am not sure they are coveting another scorer. I do know they are coveting shooting. Moore, Galloway, etc. I also know they want a PG who fits their system to backup Trae in the draft for the move-up.

Damn, you are right, they did comp us. I simply forgot they did. That's where we got the HOU pick from. So they ended up doing what TS wanted. I must have forgot some of the details.

Look at his contract but point well stated. Note, this was my opinion. The only thing that wasn't is who's readily available.
  22. Why do they keep including the min roster spots. That's like under 1 mil and it can be any salary. I hate when they do that.
  23. Can someone like @thecampster help me with this: https://www.spotrac.com/nba/atlanta-hawks/cap/2020/ I keep getting plus Goodwin - 51,096,071 cap space without Goodwin - 52,797,664 cap space = -6 million 58,797,664 for 115 million in cap space. How the hell is ESPN getting 42-48 million and basketballinsiders getting 48.4? http://www.basketballinsiders.com/atlanta-hawks-team-salary/#:~:text=Charlie Brown Jr.&text=Quick%3A Spent over the cap.&text=Projection for 2020-21 (%24,)%3A Up to %2448.4 million.
