  1. Horford to stay at center? Why not just re-sign Smith. Please don't let this be real. If so, maybe Ferry is in panic mode after all.
  2. We agree on something.
  3. Here is the thing though, the past 5-6 years we have been stuck in this revolving thing called the middle of the league, where we are too good to pick the top talents of the draft in hopes of a star, and not that good to win a title. Now would you want to go through that again? I'm a Boom or Bust type of person, you try to get a franchise player anyway you can to make sure you contend. I'm not one to settle for "ok", and we have a perfect chance to change our culture of being "ok". Agree on that.
  4. I understand. I see it like this, we had 3 guys under contract to start the off-season. That tells me Ferry isn't going to build a complete roster in one off-season. He will make sure there are 12 guys to start the season, but it isn't going to be what fans hope for. It's a process, a rebuild (not saying tank, it's a build to Ferry's vision). Now, if we "tank" or not, that has yet to be seen. It is though, a great way to find a potential franchise player since we are rebuilding a team.
  5. Random in terms of Ferry's plan for the team. People want signings, well what if Ferry doesn't see anyone he thinks will fit in? That to me would be a random signing, a signing just for the sake of having cap right now, so you should sign someone. Free Agency just began, you can't sign anyone until a few more days. It takes time to build a team. Having 3 guys on the roster to start the off-season tells me it's not going to be built in one year.
  6. It seems people see what they want to see, and then completely dismiss others' visions on an internet forum. All I have to say is, let's see what happens. I'm sitting back waiting. Others are "Why isn't Ferry signing anyone? I want signings!".
  7. Sarcastic posts for what, because some of us are more understanding to what is going on and don't want panic signings of Ellis/Smith/Bynum? Instead of comparing other GM's decision makings (drafting of Marvin, etc) to others to prove nothing, try to be more understanding to the position the team is currently in.
  8. Did I say that? Ferry isn't going to panic and sign random players just to please some of the fans that are ok with 1st round eliminations. Just wait for what he does instead of sarcastic posting to fellow Hawks fans. If he rebuilds, it's not my fault or any of the others that see a rebuild coming.
  9. If someone finds another way that a franchise player will come play for the Hawks, Ferry is all ears, because he just tried to lure one and nothing happened. The draft is our best chance at a Franchise changing player and you must have hope that he stays, not be a downer and settle for a "ok" team for the next 2 or so years.
  10. Maybe it's not about being "ok" this season, no need to panic just for a 6th or 7th seed in the playoffs. I will be fine with a rookie starting at PG and center.
  11. Dude it starts with the franchise pick. Give it time. You all act like Ferry should draft an entire team in one draft. "Besides Duncan who else...." Let us get our Duncan first. Wiggins and Parker are held as the next superstars coming out of high school since Lebron James.
  12. Spurs drafted Tim Duncan. Hawks can draft Jabari Parker or Wiggins and become our franchise player. So you would rather panic and sign Josh Smith or Monta Ellis for a 6th seed or worse this season? Some of you will be very upset.
  13. He can fill it up with vet mins, or younger players. No need to panic for a Monta Ellis just to stay in the last couple spots of the playoff standings. How did they get the 1st pick for Duncan, playing an injured star?
  14. Some just don't want to hear it, but Ferry started this with trading away Joe and Marvin and will continue his build of a NEW Atlanta Hawks. People just want instant results. Well I am glad he is building the team to his vision and hopefully through the draft instead of going into panic mode to sign Monta Ellis and Josh Smith.
  15. Or building a team through drafts like Spurs.
  16. Or, just maybe, Ferry doesn't want any of these players. Maybe he wants to.........wait for it..........rebuild and to not make a move just to make it. Spurs don't panic and try to sign random free agents.
  17. Why because he wants to rebuild, which could very well happen? If Ferry decides to, are the anti-re-builders going to "get off the site then"?

    What If

Potential Superstars > 1st round elimination playoff team to me. You have to be aggressive, not just settle for "ok".

    What If

That is alot of IFs OP. Being in the middle of the NBA is the worst position if you don't have potential young prospects to trade for better talent (see Houston). It's a boom or bust situation to me. Franchise changing players are found in 3 ways: Trades, Free Agency, and the Draft. The draft seems to be the only way of finding one for this team. Putting a Monta Ellis, or an Asik or even bringing back Josh Smith to this team doesn't make it a contender for a championship. So why stay on the "treadmill" mindset?
  20. Yeah, why would Ferry want Lin then?
