  1. Efficient floor spacers and versatile bigs.
  2. Trae has good PPG and assist numbers, but his lack of size, defense and his style makes it hard to build around him and win in the long term. How many PG's like Trae win titles as the main guy? Trae Young would struggle to shoot 40% in the 90's. He gets to the FT line, but his shooting is fairly mediocre outside of that. 43% shooting in an era with poor defense is not good. Trae is more like a Harden or a Westbrook. They are talented players, but the right team has to be around them to win with their ball dominance, poor defense and their playground style. I seriously doubt the Hawks built that team before Trae is really to bolt. The best thing they Hawks can do with Trae is to aquire a SG with good size and versatility, and try and get a big man somewhat that resembles and AL Horford.... Someone that can come out and set good screens, shoot and rebound. Trae would have been great for the JJ/Harford era Hawks. Trae JJ Spot up shooter Smoove Al It could have been great.
  3. The best fit with Trae is a reasonably tall SG that can hit the 3 at 37 or above percent, get to the rim some and playmake some, but not be ball dominate all the time. Too bad Kevin Huerter did not move up a level back when he was here.
  4. I'm not convinced that you can built a team around Trae that can win in the long term. Especially if you have incompetent people at the top. Which is a problem the Hawks have.
  5. Ingram is not going to cut it. I'd rather start Bogi at SG again and trade Murray for another player at another position before doing that.
  6. https://www.si.com/nba/hawks/news/anonymous-nba-player-poll-votes-trae-young-as-third-most-overrated-player-in-the-league Trae voted 3rd most overrated player in the NBA. I wonder if these things are pushed to bring down potential value...
  7. My memory tells me that there were only a few minor changes following that season. I think the head coaching changed fueled a lot of that brief run. I don't think it was going to last. Especially since none of the players like Cam or Hunter really took off. I don't think a team can or will build a team around Trae that will main success. Either you have to get someone that can be a true number one, or you have to deal him. You also have to have the right defensive talent around him. It's a tough hill to climb for a competent ownership, near impossible for a bad one.
  8. Well, no matter if you tank or just do trades, my point is that you have to do more than minor changes. This team is too flawed in its construction. I think they should test Trae's value. Trae has been here forever, but the only notable run this team has had was very brief. How long are people going to have nostalgia for that brief time? JJ is the only player on the roster right now that feels like a long term value. Maybe DJ.
  9. It's not a well built roster. This year was not just some off year. This team has been getting worse for a number of years. This core wasn't very good last year either. Or the year before that. It's time to move on from this roster.
  10. Speaking broadly... Anytime a team doesn't perform well, "the injury bug" is always a built in excuse that is the gone to. This team has been trending downward for years. This roster is poorly built. Even when healthy, it's poorly built. It's a poor team. Healthy or unhealthy.
  11. It's been diminishing returns for years. The question is, how bad will it be next year?
  12. They struggle to win games with Trae Young also.
  13. This is not a good team. Healthy or unhealthy. I've given up on them.
  14. This team is f***ed. One of the few times they hired someone halfway competent, they fired him not too long afterwards. This franchise just cannot hire and keep competent people at the top.
