  1. 'squeaky floors in the OMNI' ~ maybe I'm just drunk or overly tired, but this allusion makes no sense to me... what are you basing the Falcons' best years (with Deion) on...? just curious...
  2. would you rather move down and get two first rounders this year... or move down (even further) and get one this year and some sort of 'guaranteed' first rounder in next year's draft as well (recognizing that we would have to move even FURTHERdown this year to procure a draft pick next year without protection)... * the other scenario in this is to obtain such a pick in trading Al...regardless, it's something that I think that mgt. needs to find a way to assure... PPS ~ sorry for the infrequent posts and haphazard style of late...I'm moving to Memphis and have been blessed with the birth of my son( first child)...these things are keeping me busy! (fr
  3. you think Chapman or Marjele were 'great atheletes' in terms of athletic 'ability and upside'... I'm jonesing for some of what you're having...
  4. the grass is always greener I suppose. continuity is the biggest 'need' outside of the actual players on the court.
  5. what would you think of Jamison? or any of the other people listed here, all of whom are paid more than JJ (currently listed at 12 million)...he's not even in the top 30 for the league...
  6. who says that they want to cruise till the playoffs?
  7. up...Carter could always dribble and create his own shot on the drive... if anything, offensively speaking, Smoove resembles RJ more than VC...
  8. and that Dirk and Pau are playing each other, thereby, someone has to win...and let us not forget the game winners and daggers thrown by Dirk this past weekend (and with my moving to Memphis, it was horrible to watch).

  10. Brown is a coach who likes defense. NY is certainly a team that would benefit from someone playing it. you also consistently stated how little you though of Bogut in college, thus citing Frye, 'shutting him down' is not really that much praise. Added to the fact is that there is a WORLD of difference between being a good post-defender/center in college and in the pro game ~ namely having to play people your height (if not a pf and a center) as well as giving up signifcant weight to a lot of them as well. for the center position, perhaps more than any other, the talent/physical attributes that you face in the pros is VASTLY different than what you faced in college.
  11. I'd say it worked out for them in the long run (getting duncan). so now you think that it's unfair that a team can tank and that this is the reason taht you don't like the lottery? that's certainly an expansion from where you started this anti-lottery thread...but even still...anything that you come up with would have to go through the players union...and I honestly don't think that they're going to approve such a proposal that requires a decent amount of time... honestly diesel, your attempts to find 'other' alternatives are somewhat maddening...this is a relatively simple solution to a problem that would exist regardless of your attempts to 'prevent tanking'.
  12. thank you for spinning Pasquerelli's (sp) most recent article on the NFL draft...
  13. here's a question...who misses the other more. Like the converse of a bad tv movie where two people won't hang up the phone as the other says, "I love you more..." who misses the other more? Does Seattle miss nate more?...or does Nate, after a year in Portland (and if you need a quick summation of this and haven't read Darius Miles' post-exit interview, pm me)...miss Seattle more?
  14. NY has GOT to be on that list...honestly...
  15. and if said system 'awarded' us the top pick this year...? what would your stance then be?
  16. so you want to add two interior players who don't play defense (especially Taylor)?
  17. does he have the free-throw hitch?
  18. actually...there's only one 'd' in redick, and it isn't much of one relative to defensive abilities. Redick has improved grealty in his time at Duke but I don't think anyone considers him to have the capabilities to play the pg (he's not Henrich)... Redicky will be a fine pro in my best estimation, one that has a similar role to that of Salim (Redick is arguably the more athletic and has a better ability to create his own shot, both at the pro and college level)... he's go in the mid teens, borderline lottery depending on draft order and team need. Many teams that draft projects ahead of him will regret this move (as they over-reached on vaunted potential) but he will not have an NBA career that in any way resembles his college resume. good plyaer, and I'd be fine with him in a Hawks uniform...if salim were traded that is (i do think that Redick is more versatile than Salim).
  19. would you then say that we were 'unlucky' to not have fallen to third (which was more statistically probable) and thereby (more than likely, and yes, this is a supposition) having to choose between Paul and D. Williams (which would have benefitted this team more? you could say taht we were unlucky to have the second pick as, by nearly anyone's pre-draft predictions and rankings, Bogut and M Williams were going to go one-two... if only we had fallen into accordance with the probabilities!!!
  20. and there would be no 'if you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours' type deals going on there? or vendictiveness between a governor who's team was fleeced by another (you couldn't convince me that many of hte brass in toronto aren't up-in-arms about Mourning's play in Miami...) there may be no 'incentive' for the watch-dog committee...but who would compose it? would it be the league? would Stern then be suspected of having a role in Lb's not coaching the last games of this season? or the Raptors in hiring a Babcock to run the team for the short-time before his eventual hiring? simply put, this method is comprised of even more red-tape and creates significantly greater room for suspiscion and conspiracy...
  21. agreed. his moving was the primary reason that I stopped going to that site (and my personal hits on the site increased dramitcally when they titghtened down and only let him post his articles there). Realgm is fine for looking into other teams, gauging their temperments and whatnot...but for the Hawks, it's a pretty far cry from this board.
  22. Diaw deserves the award and I have no problem with his winning it. My 'least favorite' types of MIP players are those in their first second (or sometimes even third, though you make a good piont about Bosh) seasons who simply start getting pt. I think that the 'star rookies,' guys like Bosh and Carmelo (who could have also been in the running imo) are expected to continue their improvement. I think that, generally speaking, this award is 'most significant improvement from a player that we [the media/those who vote] did not think would have much of an impact on the league. congrats to Diaw.
  23. great link. thanks for that. pretty much self explanatory.
  24. and that wouldn't then start an incredible list of conspiracy theories amongst owners who 'dislike' other owners, who and how the watch dog system is implimented, what constitutes tanking, whether or nto the players under contract with the team for the next year are tanking but not on orders from mgt or coaching.. that would create a multitude of conspiracy theories, turmoil, and general speculation exponentially worse than the current system...
