  1. good take and intersting perspective on things. thanks walt.
  2. they have a lot of talent...on offense. who on that team plays any D? When Jeffries is by far your best defensive starter, then you know you're in trouble. I mean...if they simply had a 'shooter' who didn't want the ball playing the two~~but with Francis AND Marbury...why he ever thought that there'd be enough ball to go around is beyond me. There are still huge problems on that team...we'll see how well he can 'coach' it ~ personally, I would have thought he would have looked back on his bad boy days and realized that at least a COUPLE of roll players/defensive intimidators makes the rest of the team better...but hey, what do I know, I've only yet to be fired from a job...
  3. they are...to a degree (primarily because Miller and Camby, esp. the latter) are aging...and they'll have to reload once those two age out. Also, just for the record...Miller is NOT a pass-first pg. He's a combo guard with very good court vision...but he pulls a lot of one on one's to the hoop/shot
  4. you do realize that Mihm has only been in the league two years longer than Wilcox... hmmm. some upside...
  5. even though he's an urFA? I could see that were he restricted but...
  6. yeah...but he hasn't returned phone calls from Fratello or West. Living here in Memphis...it's an uncertain situation. He certainly doesn't appear to want to be back, not in the least...
  7. thank you for your continued posts, insights, experiences, and willingness to deal with the few who swaddle themselves in jealousy and continual suspiscions.
  8. Shaq was NOT the first one to say this...not even close!
  9. Is he worth locking yourself into a MLE for the next four to five years...where does he fit on this team? Does he expect to start? or even play SIGNIFICANT minutes in the backcourt? I simply don't see how he diversifies or improves this team in any impactual way (is that a word). If Salim/Lue/others show their worth at all...then we don't need him, especially not for that money. Seems that he screwed himself though...nice job on Philly taking a hard line.
  10. thanks man. if the time were found it'd certainly be a bonus to those of us who check the Squawk at work (be it on the same or different computer) and then have to 'log off' before resuming reading (but without having read 'all' of the posts/threads that they wanted to...and thus losing track). cheerio.
  11. Brookwood (yeah alma mater) Beayatchs...sounds more like and NBDL/ ABA team... Snellville Slugs... Lawrenceville (or Lilburn, yeah hometown) Liquidators...
  12. what is a 'ham and egger'???! did you make this up?
  13. big IF! he's needed that since he came into the league. Honestly, those two should get together, talk about how they need to improve in order to compliment the other better...and go from there. It'd be the best for both, the franchise, and the fans...
  14. others ahve said it and I'm reiterating...post players get no love in the SL's; guys are all fighting for spots and if you're a big man, particularly one already signed AND playing with backcourt players with NO contract...you won't see the ball that often (unless you're a seasoned SL player and all round journeyman ready to commit to the label of 'true pg'). As for SW...I think that others are right ~ and he's even alluded to this ~ he's overthought plays once receiving the ball, a completley common occurence, especially for a mroe 'heady' player that is adjusting to the pace of the NBA game (triply so in SL) ~ it's up and down all the way...a Darius Miles playground). Finally, to Sailm...Woody NEEDS to play him at the point. Someone here compared him to Delk ~ GREAT! Delk is a serviceable bu pg in certain situations. If Salim can't learn to at least be a non-negative factor from the point, his career will be severly limited. Case-in-point ~ Casey Jacobsen. While he was never asked to play the point (given his speed and body type), he was a P10 guy who could shoot it from ANYWHERE (watch the stanford games wehre he would chuck it from 35 feet out, swish...I could go on with his background in the arena)...but he's out of the league now. Why? He could only hit threes. Kerr was the exception, a right guy at the right time who happened to TRULY build a reputation on this (and had an uncanny ability to NOT need to be in the game/start/get much pt in order to IMMEDIATELY come in with timing). I apologize for the stream of consciosness! It's been a long couple of weeks (started residency) and I'm happy to have some time to sit down with the Squawk today!
  15. it's not like this is was a hard one ot figure out, though I disagree with Diesel in that we DID learn something new today: Al knows that he's gone; he justified the rumours of the two most likely suitors; we learned what's holding up the deal (from Al's perspective). I apologize to not giving credit to previous posters, but, in using some words already mentioned, it's most likely that Billy is trying to play both sides against the middle, perhaps waiting for a 3rd suitor to throw their hat in the ring...and I hope, HOPE, that he's trying to get a first round pick next year (non-restricted or iwth little protection, depending on the team); should he accomplish the latter, garnering a 1st round pick next year from whichever team Al goes to...I'd call the trade a success. SEriously, that's my only 'true, bottom line WANT' out of the inevitable SNT.

    Al on...

you do realize that there's a difference between trading a player and an snt for a player right...two of the guys on your list were no longer in their 'last year', but rather already rFA; couple that with the fact that Jackson (one of those) and [reportedly] Sheed didn't want to be here (vocally so)...I'd say those were good moves to make...
  17. this is mroe or less correct ~ there's a couple of caveats (sp) on it thta I can't recall off hand ~ though the general gist is that a player CAN be traded inside that 90 days (assuming that it's not his rookie contract) if he was acquired via trade (single player) or if he's traded as a single player...or something like that...
  18. Wilcox might come at a reasonable price? are you joking? Have you read any of the rumours that he's 'peeved' at Seattle for not offering him a deal similar to that of Nene (this year), Chandler, & Curry (last year)? He's not worth anywhere near that...FAR too unproven!
  19. is there any way to change how the site views posts as 'read' by a particular reader? E.g. if i'm signed on at work on my laptop, turn if off to come home..all threads that I hadn't read/browsed are now marked as read (necessitating my making mental notes or completely losing track). The same is true if my wife accidentally closes the browser (which she is prone to do from time to time)... am I making sense at this hour? I'm exhausted!
  20. with hoopshype having so many deficiencies on it's salary board...try this one: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trademachine it really isn't bad, even if it is EPSN

    Glory Road

sad part is...that wasn't his first year coaching there (if I'm not mistaken). there was a LOT of sensitalization in that movie...
  22. I simply want to see him play solid minutes with solid play, thus earning his minutes. At this point, all this BS about 'proving his draft spot' is useless...he's ours for at least the next three years. Where one was drafted (especially for someone as 'humble' as MW) matters not at this point; he won't be getting that many 'freebe' minutes, regardless of whether or not we retain Al's services...
  23. I think that they'll start SW over MW more often than not, especially if (and in certain ways it is an IF) Smoove continues to 'earn' his starter's role. Why? With Smoove, JJ, and Zaza on the floor, you have three offensive players (in very different ways)...a team needs balance as well. SW fits great with that lineup (or really, any lineup featuring Zaza at center and at least two other 'legitiment' scoring options on the floor) to boot...he's more seasoned than MW is, by age and by general pt/ bbiq.
  24. do we know what time they'll be broadcast? why not live? cause we might miss a 'live' WNBA game!!
