  1. 50-32 2nd Seed NBA Finals (Lose in 6) 777
  2. So funny to see this thread! There's a podcast about this from Revisionist History. Somebody at the game Monday night told me about it. Talks about how Wilt Chamberlain started shooting free throws this way. I'm totally about Dwight trying this out.
  3. So does the injured Splitter take one of the roster spots? I thought he was going to be a good addition, but I got so tired of his inability to catch a pass or get a solid rebound, I was ready for him to move on. Looks like we should have a made a trade during the offseason. Nobody will want him now.
  4. Round two of auditions...all three preseason games!
  5. Well I'm a woman so I don't think the "volt green weenie-sling" applies.
  6. The tryout went awesome! I did my own spin on It's Raining Men (It's Raining Three's) so hopefully I was ridiculous enough to be memorable. I might've customized my own umbrella with Hawks logos, Kyle Korver, and Baze Gaze.... Hope to hear something in the next day or two. I'll keep everyone posted!
  7. I'm currently working on a new spin on "It's Raining Men."
  8. I was invited to go to Philips tonight and try out for the 6th man section. Anybody have any clever ideas so I can make myself stand out? I'm psyched about it!
  9. I'm actually closer to Athens than Atlanta. Are these events closed? I'd love to catch an early glimpse of the team...
  10. With the 209th selection, I choose... Malik Beasley Malik Beasley averaged 15 points per game while shooting 51% on two's and 39% on three's. He also pulled down 5 rebounds per game. My team is now complete: PG - Irving /Dragic / Ulis SG - Korver / Ellis / Beasley SF - Deng / Prince PF - Jokic / Gordon / Sabonis C - Whiteside / Noah Coach - Erik Spoelstra
  11. With the 208th pick in the draft, HopefulHawksFan's select... Domantas Sabonis Sabonis is one of the 2016 Draft's most refined big men offensively. During his time with Gonzaga, he was very effecting at scoring the ball. He averaged 30.4 points per 100 possessions with a true shooting percentage of 66%. He also draws fouls, averaging 9.5 free throws per 100 possessions. He averaged 21.1 rebounds per 100 possessions.
  12. With the 176th pick, I select... Tyler Ulis As a Kentucky Wildcat, Ulis brok John Wall's school assist record, was named SEC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year and won the Bob Cousy Award as the nation's most outstanding point guard. Ulis measured at 5'9" and 149 pounds at the NBA Draft Combine, making him the fifth lightest player the NBA has seen since 1950. There's a horde of people who believe he's too small to be successful and Ulis is awaiting the opportunity to prove them wrong. @Buzzard You are up!
  13. With the 175th pick, I select... Erik Spoelstra In April 2008, Spoelstra became the head coach of the Miami Heat after Pat Riley's decision to step down. Spoelstra was Riley's hand-picked successor. In naming Spoelstra as head coach, Riley said: "This game is now about younger coaches who are technologically skilled, innovative, and bring fresh new ideas. That's what we feel we are getting with Erik Spoelstra. He's a man that was born to coach.” He led the Heat to two consecutive NBA Championships in 2012 and 2013. They have only missed the playoffs in one season since he took over. He has a career 399-241 record.
  14. I was afraid this was going to happen. Another busy weekend for me. I'll post quick selections now and do a write up later... I reviewed the selections, so hopefully I didn't make a mistake on either of these already being taken. I select... Monta Ellis Joakim Noah
  15. We went to this one as well! It was so much fun. Great food, good music, and we played games (skee ball, ping pong, darts, basketball, etc) for hours!
  16. Actually it is way too HEAVY for her to carry around at school. That thing is the real deal. I did bring it to school for her to show off and then took it home. I tweeted the Hawks yesterday and told them they should have an UNO themed family night at one of the games and she could come and bring her belt and be honorary captain. I think it's a great idea!
  17. We had an absolute blast. About 200 people there. We went to the bowling event Saturday also. Both he and THJ were so much fun and so gracious. I was a little disappointed that more of his teammates didn't show up to support but his staff told me more of the guys are going to the golf tournament today.
  18. Just needed a moment to do a little mom bragging... This is my daughter! Such a fun night. These guys were awesome and so kind to my daughter. And Hawks' UNO ain't no joke. I had no idea what was going on some of the time, but it made the game super competitive.
  19. With my next pick, I'm looking to the future. I think this guy is going to be amazing. Taurean Prince Prince increased his role each of his college seasons before becoming a full-time starter in his senior year. The 6'8", 220 pound forward began making waves as a junior when he was one of the top 6th men in the country. He earned the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2015 by averaging 14 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting 47 percent overall and 40 percent from long range. In his senior year he averaged 16 points and 6 boards.
  20. First of two picks today... Aaron Gordon Last year, Gordon posted 13.9 points per 36 minutes and 6.5 rebounds per 36 minutes. After the All-Star Break, when his scoring averages increased and he started more games, Gordon posted 15.5 points per 36 minutes and 9.4 rebounds per 36 minutes. Those are beginning to look like numbers of a player preparing to break out.
  21. I'm sorry! I was at Baze's event at The Painted Pin all day yesterday. Headed to the UNO tournament tonight. Picks coming shortly!
  22. With the 81st pick, HopefulHawksFan's select... Goran Dragic The 30-year-old guard, who is about to enter his 10th season in the NBA, averaged 14.1 points and 5.8 assists in 72 regular-season games. But he averaged 17.3 points and 6.7 assists after the All-Star break and 16.5 points and 3.9 assists during the playoffs. For his career, Dragic has averaged 12.5 points and 4.7 assists in 574 regular-season games. Dragic is known for being at his best when he is running the floor and either driving to the basket or creating open looks for spot-up shooters. Also, he is not afraid to take the big shot in the crunch; something a point guard needs to be able to know when to do or to get it to the right person. This past season, Dragic had a tooth knocked out in December and in April. In round 2 of the playoffs, he had another tooth knocked out and received eight stitches. All three times he returned to the game. This guy has a toughness that won’t quit.
  23. With the 80th pick, HopefulHawksFan's select.... Luol Deng Over his career, Deng has averaged 15.5 points per game on 46 percent shooting, converted 77 percent of his free throws with 6.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest. Deng also has a reputation as a solid defensive player. In 2012, he earned NBA All-Defensive Second Team honors. Looking for a strong small forward, and Deng fits the role perfectly.
