I am with @TheNorthCydeRises on this. Only a few players can make that pass, Bron, Trae, Jokic, Luka, and CP3. That pass was elite of the elite passes.

As far as finishing that, the top end finishers can finish that but it would be questionable going down from there. JC is an elite finisher so he can finish that more times than not.

So you're telling me Ja can't make that pass? Booker? Haliburton, Kyrie, Murray AND Murray, Garland, Cunningham, CJ cannot make a 60 ft alley hoop pass?

CJ and Zion can do it in their sleep.

Who in the league can make a pass like that?  That could've easily been a turnover.

But Trae to Collins is the best QB to WR duo in Atlanta.

Majority all pgs in the league can make this pass. They're all stronger than Trae so the strength is nothing and they all train virtually the same doing the same drills. And every PF in the nba can do what Collins did. You people are beginning to sound like such casuals.

    Squawk: Nate strikes again. lol

Nate has his flaws, but he isnt the reason we lost last night...

Will Nate be the reason you get to the finals? Miami coach gets the most put of his players. Udoka got the most out of Celtics. Draymond Green became an allstar. Raptors are always in it. When I look at the Hawks it's kinda boring. Unless their shooting is hot. What offensive sets does he run? Trae stands around if he doesn't have the ball. No motion what so ever

  4. What if the Hawks were coached by an NBA coach who has been in NBA with success for some time? To me, Nate will always be an assistant coach to another assistant coach who was fired and now back to being to an assistant coach. I dont think he knows how to use his players and his creativity is 0 across the board.

Alright Skip Bayless show your self.  If you are disappointed with the way Trae plays, you have to have some deep seeded old school way you see basketball and if a player doesn’t fit that mold you can’t get over it.  Trae Is NOT selfish. He literally leads the league in assists with DJ on the squad. He shimmies and put on a show because this is entertainment and he understands that element of the game too. He plays to the crowd not for his own selfish reasons but because he knows you need a strong fan base to go deep in the playoffs. It is weird to me me how people pop up out of no where just to hate on a part of the game he struggles with. Trae is carving out a path for us to win our first ever championship and this is what you choose to focus on. Sorry, you asked for the flames.  Remember Murray joined the team Trae les to the ECF not the other way around. I love Murray’s game too but we don’t need Trae to be Murray. We need Trae to be Trae.

Hey bud I'm just calling what I see with my eyes. You say I'm old school but I like Morants game a lot. I like Darius Garlands game a lot. You used the selfish word with Trae not me.

I dont mind the shimmy, all I was saying was don't rush to get to the shimmy. Let it come with the flow of the game. It will come with a little more patience in my opinion.

You have to let that ECF appearance go bud. The East is a gauntlet NOW with defensive powerhouses.

I am not asking for Trae to be Murray, I'm asking for Trae to have another year of maturity. Hunter knows what a championship feels like. It wasn't the NBA but still has champion in his blood. Use him, feed him. Collins is fully healthy with a chip on his shoulder. Feed him. Murray is a creator and generator. Trae doesn't need to be Trae old and do EVERYTHING. He can literally chill more, preserve his energy and get easier buckets.

  6. I may get hate or be called a hater but I am disappointed in Trae game. Still forces up shots to get his numbers, still shoots low % threes, still doesn't let the offense come to him. It's like he's always looking for the homerun/youtube highlight play. He wants to shimmy and shake his chills so bad. I love how Murray plays though. It's just night and day. He seems more team oriented

    Good luck Coop.

He seems like a Pistons type player to me. Electrifying one on one type guy but maybe doesn’t get the team going.

In any event, good luck to the kid.

We need to start using our 2nd round picks on guys that fit roles and bust butt.

I'm not sure he's a good one on one guy against quality nba defenders. He struggled against hungry summer league defenders. Someone else's problems now though. We have our guards

He is playing for a job. It is not a foregone conclusion he will make the team. If he doesn’t play, does somebody like Aaron Holiday walk in and take his possible minutes?  If does play well other teams are watching too. Do they make a play for him and giving him minutes?  Like i said he is in a tough spot. If he was a late first round pick, he would have more security and could easily sit out a thumb injury.

Well that definitely makes sense. I agree

The guy clearly is playing through a thumb injury. He is in a tough spot. He has to make it through camp. If he can hold his own with Trae and Murray in practice, he will create a spot for himself.

Then why even be out there? It's SL no need to risk injury playing every game in games that mean nothing.

"The sky is falling!"  Here on The Squawk, everything that happens is magnified all out.  Some try to keep everything on a steady base.  Others simply explode!  Note:  There is no men's club as we have at least two great female posters who are very wise and will burn you a blister if you get too far out of line!

    You must be new here...

Uh boy, is this place some secret boys club or something? Is there some sort of ceremonial rite of passage I must go through to join the hawks mens club? Some sort of initiation? I'm new, what's the scoop sport?

Have we reached the part of the year yet when people forget that summer league games are absolutely useless in telling us anything about players, yet try to draw conclusions anyway?

    Feels like we have. 🤣

SL is a way to work on your game against hungry vets looking for a team and against hungry rooks looking to prove they belong. It's a good measuring stick to see where you are against other competitors. I'm starting to see why this dude stayed in college park. Against a hungry Celtics D, Miami D, Warriors D, they'd eat him alive. Jared Butler prides his defense and it showed in only SL

    Time for some defense Trae!

Hawks Talked to Trae Young About Improving His Defense

Hawks general manager Landry Fields gave a candid answer in a radio interview on 92.9 FM The Game. Fields let it be known that the organization has had conversations (plural) with Young about improving his (individual) defense for next season.

There is no doubt that Young has room to improve on defense. Perimeter defense was one of the Hawks' weak spots last season, specifically point-of-attack defense. They finished bottom-five in the league for defensive rating. No one is blaming that all on Young. Defense requires effort and energy from the entire team, which Clint Capela noticed was lacking in training camp.

So the John Collins trade machine is starting up again. I guess every company or organization needs a scape goat to pend their lack of met expectations on someone. Now the claim is he isn't the perfect power foward. I'm beginning to dislike this front office if they think that Ben Simmons is a more perfect power forward worth $13 mil more dollars per year than John. Do they really think that every starting player on Golden State's team is perfect at their respective position? This front office and coaching staff is just flat out lazy if they can't find a way to make this team work with the talent it already has on the roster.

I guess we should wait and see how this year plays out. I know Nate can't coach, but I'm interested to see why TS brought in Fields. Is it because he played, he's young and can give a more clear perspective of talent or is he here to fire Nate, clean TS mess up, and keep TS employed?

    And there it is!

Haha you can keep going? So can I bud. KAT barely played leading up to the game. Taking someone spot who has earned it by playing? Sorry, not how it works. And Embiid was coming off his 2nd foot injury. He was basically a rookie my man on a god awful team. Trae is the star. Every player you've named were not superstars. They would never start on an Olympic team. I can be a fan and be honest building around Trae won't lead you to a chip. Iverson didn't get one, Nash didnt get one. And CP3 hasn't. You will continue to be in denial and say things like but but but, he stepped on a refs foot. But but but Miami sent the whole team at him. But but but he doesn't have players around him. You cannot find me a championship team who has built the way the Hawks are preparing to build now around a shoot first point guard.

Currently, DeMar DeRozan is 12-to-1 to win the NBA MVP. Those are the fifth-best odds ahead of superstars like Steph Curry, Devin Booker and Luka Doncic. DeRozan is clearly in the MVP picture as we approach the final weeks of the season. DeRozan is averaging 28.1 points per game, which is a career high.Mar 5, 2022

No I understand brother this year, but you were talking about a Derozen that played with the Spurs. Those numbers were not Bulls numbers. He made the all star this year by this season numbers. Devin Booker wasn't even the leader of his team. And Gobert wasn't even the leader of his team. Trae is your leader and he cried about being snubbed in what his second year? Third? I'm a huge Hawks fan, I just never liked the Trae young pick and all my concerns are popping up. As a fan I have no choice but to deal with him. He's Josh Smith all over again.
