Not better, per se, but perhaps more egalitarian and team oriented.

This is it for me. I think they have more intensity on defense minus having to make up for Traes deficiencies on defense.  And as much hell as I give Hunter, this newfound aggressiveness is giving me pause.  I like it. Somewhat 😂

I've been saying for 4 years that Hunter has to be 1a or 1b, a featured player in the offense.  The Hawks are not built like that.  The wings just stand on the wings and let the guards play offense.  Hunter looks good once he is able to get in a rhythm as a lead player.  A trade might be in his best interest long term.

In what realm of sense can Hunter be 1a? Hell 1b? Everyone of you can fight me about it.  He's 1c at best.  A few inconsistent scoring games mean nothing to me. Feed him some gunpowder and teach him how to rebound and do it consistently then we can talk.  Smh at the Hunter wish list.

I don't follow the Falcons closely but wow that is an incredible overpay for a mediocre QB.  I recognize that mediocrity is a step up from last year but this screams desperation to me.  What are the odds that our massively paid new QB gets the second playoff win of his entire career with us?  The one guy who just looks amazing with that deal is the agent.  He has been killing it from day 1.

I follow closely. This is my thought too.  Smh

Who is "they"?  A lot of complaints all year on lack of depth with this team.

I'm worried they are going to get him hurt playing him at PF and pressing him to try to win games since we are so devastated right now.

If we're sorely depending on Hunter to win games we're already cooked anyway.  Meh. But to the point...Meh.

Define "Break up the team."  If you mean "Refuse to trade any Hawk" would be one thing, "Flush most all players" would be entirely different.

Some players gotta stay.  Some players gotta go.  This would be my educated guess.

    :smug:

    Precisely this.

Here's the question of the day....

If the Hawks went on an improbable run to end the season and ran through the playoffs (like in 2021) and ended in their first finals appearance....

Would you still want to break up the team?

Yes. Improbable runs from Atlanta teams have shown to be the fools gold for the FO.  The Hawks as constructed aren't going to make that run, but IF the miracle of a lifetime were to happen, I'd enjoy it and still hope this team is minus a few players next year.

  7. Narrative. It's all Trae's fault.  I'm saving haters the time.

This season in a nutshell has been azz. The Resslers, the FO, the personnel groupings, the personnel, lack of improving the team with that fake azz trade deadline hype, energy, defense, execution, swag freaking surfing, rookie abductions, injuries, underwhelming individual performances, Trae?

Anybody putting Trae in that bag of crap is a snake oil salesman.  We can pick things apart with Trae, but make no mistake, he is the engine.  Putting the haters aside, it's neglect the way this team played tonight.  No heart.

I did the math.  Since his rookie season, Trae has shot 41.3% on catch and shoot 3's.  (He is 190 for 460).

His efg% on those shots is 62.0%.  That is a very good shot for this or any other team.

I would say the points on Trae are that the catch and shoot is indeed a good shot for Trae.  Barring yalls fancy smancy stats, I can see it too.  😂😂😂

Bogi FGM is 2.7 on 7.2 FGA for 37.6%

Trae FGM is 0.8 on 2.2 FGA for 38.7%

Saying he's not good at Catch and Shoot is a damn lie.  Saying he doesn't do it often is true, but he's a very good shooter.

For his career he's 251-621 for 40.4%.  Saying that isn't a good shooter is, again, a damn lie.

Smoke. Shots fired.  I love this board!

I love the logic of people here.   We’ve had 900 minutes of play without Trae on the floor this season and haven’t seen good defense until the last 96 minutes.  But surely it is all about Trae.  He was holding them back from the bench all season.  His top 10 steals, deflections, and charges drawn were an insurmountable obstacle to playing even remotely competent defense most nights.  Please.

This team has been garbage on D all year with or without Trae on the floor.  Loving seeing everyone step their game up lately but this is like blaming OO for the bad defense since he is out too.

Hunter healthy, Kobe playing, JJ coming of age, DJM not getting abused at the SG position, etc. are much bigger factors than whether OO or Trae are on the floor.  I’m definitely not arguing that DJM isn’t better defending points but again we had 900 minutes this season to see the team be dramatically better on D without Trae and we never saw them look like this.

    This is on point! Smh.

This game was less on him than the other two where fatigue played a role. Toronto had a good defensive scheme. Capela being washed is really f***ing us up. His offensive execution which is normally reliable is ass. Defensively, he's a shell of himself. He's gonna feel like Lou and VC in there last year, next year. When centers hit the wall, they hit it fast

    Absolutely!

Trae in the last 3 games combined:

    11-39 FG (28%)

    6-24 from 3 (25%)

    14 ppg

    -35

    Wtf man..

Hawks arent winning many games if our Max guy plays like this....

    And that's just on Offense....

Whatever you think of Trae he has been one of the more willing participants on defense. I hate his bad games but it's much more than him. If you don't believe that, there's not much to say.

    We still on this topic?

Cool, nepotism exists. Shit got messed up. Now what are we going to do about it moving forward?

As far as I am concerned Nicky Ressler hasn’t been brought up as a negative impact since we added Quin to the fold.

I think this information is very old, even if the point is to place the today’s struggles on what took place (2) offseasons ago.

Either way, here we are in 2024. The biggest issues on this roster involve having too many good but not great players occupying rotation spots and salary cap. Most of these players were brought in by Schlenk. Most of them were re-signed by Schlenk. And as far as I know, Schlenk had not acquired a star to put next to Trae either.

The dysfunction is annoying as a fan, but the results are not drastically different. We have underachieved since the season we overachieved. We have Trae which is everything. We have DJ, JJ and Quin which is something.

Im not wasting anymore time crying about Nick Ressler. LF has said he runs the show. Quin has been reported to have input in what he wants to build this roster. That’s where we are. Lets get it done.

We still on this because the foul stench of Ressler is real.  They can change the reality of the perception but until then, it's my post  and I'll whine if I want to.
