If Edey becomes a star and Sarr doesn't...Supes will never, ever let us forget it.

I do think Edey is going to have a good NBA career. I think Sarr will as well and I like Sarr's upside more than Edey's. Basically I'm gambling on a higher floor and lower ceiling over higher ceiling but much lower floor.

Whoever we take I will support them. As @NBASupes mentioned...go back and look at old draft threads from that draft. I was praying to God we took Deron Williams because he had the It factor. And he had a probably HOF career path until injuries just derailed the the last years of his career. CP3 I was more leery of about injuries but he's still going and is a definite HOF player. Marvin Superbust Williams...it still makes me sick to think about him.

Thankfully for me at least there is NO prospect in this draft I feel as strongly about as I did Deron Williams in that draft. Reed Sheppard is probably the closest but I know we're not taking him #1.

I'm ok with Supes ripping us all for our takes on Sarr. He's made good points on Edey but I'm on the Sarr train.  If they go another direction, so be it.  I'm not as much anti -Edey as I am pro -Sarr.  At one....any other year.  Ewww...but that point is irrelevant.

Could we get back to discussing the Hawks? The Falcons wasted their #8 pick on a bum that will be almost 30 when he finally gets a chance to play. There's a forum to discuss how terrible of a draft pick it was.

OK. Hawks it is.  But Penix is no bum.  And no Edey at one!

In fact, Quin uses a lot of ghost screens.  Particularly with guard guard screen action.

Bigs like Wemby, Chet, JJJ, Evan Mobley, and Sarr, Inwould want them running more ghost screens to set up their jumper or slip screens to get them to the basket.  You don’t have to hammer someone’s d*ck into the ground to be an effective screener.

I'm so tired of you saying things that are correct.😂😂😂IMB_20190121014630_nJ1X.gif.1e8762e254aa0adabb60878c45ebd1b3.gif

I've taken a bit of time to formulate how to say this. You cannot base this pick on fear. The last 2 seasons, Zach Edey has been the best player in the country. Best on offense by a wide margin, top 10% in defensive impact (not necessarily raw numbers). He is the logical pick in the absent a true #1 pick consensus.

You can't let fear of him being a bust sway you here. Instead, if he pans out (20/10 player by year 3), you will always be judged if you let a franchise center get away because you were afraid to pick him. Because you listened to what the talent evaluators said.

2005, the talent evaluators all said that Marvin Williams was a can't miss talent and should go number 1 overall. there were questions about Chris Paul, Deron Williams and Andrew Bynum.  Paul too short, Williams too slow me first type player, Bynum - too many unknowns, too many injuries.  But Marvin Williams was sure to be an all-star capable player with a 10+ year career who does all the little things you need to win a championship.  Fear of taking Paul or Bynum or Williams left us taking the sure thing in duck butt.

You cannot draft by fear and you cannot trust the so called expert evaluators.

If I'm the Hawks I'm trading down but staying in the top 10 and I'm taking Edey. If I can't trade down, I'm still taking Edey.

And if I'm the Hawks, fear of Edey at 1 wouldn't let me take him.  The vehemently argumentative takes for him at one are interesting. He went from early second round, to late first, to lottery and now some want him at one? Interesting.

Gasol is moving like he's in molasses and dominating because he knows what the offense wants to do like Joker. He uses his length and size exceptionally well. Edey can do that in time with more experience. I don't see why we should pass on the best player in this draft who's the best fit in the draft for a hope that something talented works that has a lot of odds against them.

As long as Trae is here. Take Edey and that's the best pick on the board.

I hope the hell not at 1. That's...something....

Just saying, none of our opinions are swaying the Hawks organization. They have done their homework and even if they grab things from this thread and others, it will only be a small part of their eval

But here’s the thing. I’ve been a fan of this team for as long as I’ve been alive, which is a long time to be this damn unsuccessful. Just like the Falcons.  I wanted them to swing for the fences (Penix)  and not do what everyone thought they should do and that’s what they did. I have no idea if it pans out or not, but it feels good to finally be on the end of taking a chance on greatness.  A vision if you will.

The Penix situation is nowhere near the Trae and Edey/Sarr comparison considering they play different positions and neither would be threatened by the other. I get what you’re saying about it, but how in good conscience can you pass on someone who has the potential to be an MVP candidate? I get what you saying about Edey I just don’t agree that he would ever be in a conversation over Sarr. I acknowledge your points too on Edey.  If we were at 10..8...sign me up.  All I'm saying is, at one, IF I WERE GM, I pick Sarr after they announce the draft has started and before the first commercial!

As a bit of a non-sequitor and at the risk of being a bit off topic, I'm skeptical that the report about the Spurs being willing to give up the 4, 8 and all the picks we gave them for DJM (plus whatever amounts to matching salary) is real.  But let's assume it is real for a moment.  That would mean that same coach (Pops) who blackballed Trae on the national teams because LP bad mouthed him is so desperate to get Trae that he is willing to give up a king's ransom worth of lottery and high potential picks to get the same player he refused to support in the past.  That would just be a strange dynamic.  I think that would speak to how damaging LP was for Trae's reputation with certain people and how much of that was based on LP and his connections rather than Trae's game.

I already think that LP did Trae dirty and that this is a really remarkable thing for a coach to do to his best player so if I buy into this idea that Pops is willing to sell out to get Trae now then it puts that betrayal in an even worse light.

I agree with this 100.  That sabotage job that LP did to Trae is still haunting him.

As stated...I don't know why the Spurs would be willing to give that up for Trae whether it aligns or not.  Every time the trade winds blow around Atlanta....we're left with more questions than answers and are left with nothing but "could have, should have...". I'm skeptical of any trade thoughts until they happen.  (And yes insiders, I value your insights).

Hey guys, you know the deal.  Don't address the poster or take personal shots at them or their motives.   We've been there before.   We've got weeks to go so let's keep things civil around here.  It's an actually exciting offseason for all of us.

I certainly didn't attack a poster.  If I were attacked I would have liked to seen it though...go Kendrick if necessary 😂😂😂
