  1. I have confidence in the basketball staff. I don't have confidence that Ressler will let them do their job.
  2. Almost identical player to Alex Sarr.
  3. He has a big wing skill level, which is what you want out of a center in the modern NBA.
  4. That's usually because when OO is out there, he is asked to do more defensively than just hang out at the rim. His defensive responsibilities take him out of ideal rebounding position at times. Same thing with Sarr this year with Perth. He had immense defensive responsibilities, and a lot of the time, that took him out of rebounding position.
  5. He does an above average job of defending big wings. However, he's very much below average when it comes to defending fours and twos.
  6. Yep, and there is significant equity in his ability to shoot, and there is also some equity with him as a shot creator.
  7. Sarr will be a great rebounder in the NBA. Okongwu is a good rebounder. Johnson is a good rebounder. I'm not concerned in the least that we won't have to just camp someone down on the block to get rebounds.
  8. Sarr also lessens the need to acquire elite POA perimeter defenders. The combo of Sarr and Okongwu can cover enough space to "cover" for the mistakes of the perimeter defenders.
  9. They make a good case for Clingan, and I respect them. They also acknowledge the fact that with Clingan, you limit your PNR defense to drop coverage only, and this puts even more emphasis on getting POA wing defenders whereas Sarr lessens that need with his ability to play multiple PNR schemes. IMO, Clingan is a guy who you will be happy with for a period of time, and then when the drop coverage gets exploited in the playoffs, you will wish you had a Sarr/Chet/Wemby/Mobley/JJJ type defender at the center spot and not a guy who can only play drop coverage.
  10. Damn! This guy moves better than Zach Edey on the floor! Wow!
  11. Sarr has star potential and is in the archetype that is THE MODEL for modern bigs
  12. Yep. Then you consider that with the Grizzlies getting healthy, you have to deal with JJJ and you still have to deal with Giannis. Looking ahead, this is what’s coming into the league.
  13. Might as well get used to it. This is the new breed of center in the NBA. The days of the slow plodder are dead.
  14. Sarr has a better offensive base. Claxton isn’t a guy who you would want to give the ball to.
  15. Sarr can PNP. He can play short roll. He can take a majority of the NBA centers off the dribble and beat them in isolation. Does he need polish? Yes, as does EVERY ROOKIE that is drafted.
  16. The average PPP for post up possessions this year was 0.99 PPP. That’s the equivalent of a 33% three-point shooter. Wemby isn’t the best young big in the NBA because of post up ability. He’s the best young big in the game because of everything else he can do. He’s not limited.
  17. Yeah. I wasn’t extremely high on the 23 class outside of Wemby. I’m not a big Scoot fan. I’m not an Auser fan. Amen is OK but not a star. The guy I wanted the most for the Hawks is Jarace Walker. Alex Sarr would be second to Wemby for me in the past two drafts.
  18. I agree with Brad Rowland. The only guy we would likely be able to get that may actually be get able with the 1st pick is Lauri Markkanen, and that’s not a deal the Hawks should make since Lauri does nothing to improve the defense.
  19. The average NBA team posts up around 4 times per game. It’s an inefficient shot. Analytics has proven that over time. It’s far more important for a big to be able to play in space than play or defend in post up possessions. Yet, there are some who want to draft a player or avoid drafting a player based on what they do in the post as opposed to what they do in space?
  20. He's not a big wing. He has never played wing in his basketball career. He can guard wings, which is important, but he's not a wing. He's as much of a wing as Chet Holmgren and Wemby are wings.
