I’m all for getting Dipo if the price is right. Houston will probably try and get more than he’s worth (as any good GM should), but in reality, Houston is on the wrong side of the standings, he’s an expiring contract with a history of injuries, and everyone knows Houston should be trying to win the lottery - not basketball games. Unless a bidding war is breaking out, Travis should have some leverage here I would think. Fillers and a very protected pick (or the OKC pick) sounds good to me. Let’s make some noise in the playoffs!
.....unless I’m missing something here and Dipo actually has a lot of value. But like I said, he’s an expiring, not getting the max next year, so can literally sign anywhere. The value then becomes attractive to teams competing for the playoffs this year who aren’t trading key pieces before a playoff push.

He wanted 4/120.
Yeah that would make much more sense on why they couldn't come to an agreement.

If we offered 4/90 and he wanted 4/100....I'm gonna be pi$$ed if we lose him for nothing or if he gets an offer exceeding that and we end up matching. Literally $2.5M per year...

Here's some even bigger red s........Injuries and $29, $31, $33 and $36 million.
We've been having a season of injuries, you want to add to it?
Completely agree. The injury history, lack of defense, and money owed makes this an easy pass.

Porzingis is on the market.
Gallo and Snell for Porzee sounds intriguing.
I was just reading up on this. I went into it wondering if I'd want us to offer JC for Porzingis. Then I saw this:
"Mavericks' Defensive Rating is 11.8 points worse when Porzingis is on the court. Digging a little deeper into some advanced analytics, Porzingis is the second-worst defensive center in the league according to Bball-Index's LERBON statistic and he's the worst defensive big according to FiveThirtyEight's RAPTOR statistic."Pretty big red flag and I doubt that would work with Trae.

A lot of these issues just come down to injuries. These injuries force Huerter and Cam into roles where they don't belong at this point in their young careers. They should be leading the second unit. We're seeing just how bad the injuries to Bogi and ESPECIALLY Hunter are in this 10 game stretch.
The next biggest issue to me is backup PG. This might be one of the bigger misses of TS time in ATL so far. Yes, Rondo and Dunn have been hurt, but even when Rondo has been healthy, he's looked terrible. I wanted OO17 in the draft, but looking back, Hali and Deadmon would be making a huge impact for us this year. I'm not giving up on OO17, but the Rondo/Dunn signings have been huge duds so far.I wish we could move Rondo and make a trade for a quality backup PG. Then get our guys healthy, and I think we're in much better shape. But obviously, you can't control injuries. Has Trae looked a little worse this year? Yeah, I'm not too worried about it though. I don't think LP has coached the best either, but I think the injuries and backup PG are the 2 biggest factors that have gotten us to this point of 11-16.

Off thread topic - but speaking of Pippen, maybe it's been discussed elsewhere, but does Hunter remind anyone else of Scottie (more so than Cam)? They have a similar build, Hunter is 6-8, 225; Scottie 6-8, 210. He's outperforming Scottie in their respective year 2's, but damn. I see a player who looks like Scottie running up and down the court when I see Hunter. AND De'Andre shoots better. The dunks he's been throwing down this year remind me of Pippen too.

Some of their quotes:
* More impressed by us than BKN and a dangerous out in the eastern conference. Wouldn't be surprised if we made it to the EC Finals.* Trae is un-guardable and we have lots of fire power on offense
* Will be a dangerous and scary team come playoff time. No one is going to want to face us.
* Reminds them of the baby Hawks team who pushed Boston to 7
* Perk called Trae Young a TOP 5 player in the league - Steph Curry 2.0 and on a whole other level right now
* Mentioned how Trae and Harden are the only 2 players teams are doubling immediately after crossing half court
* JC is underrated and will be playing hard since he's in a contract year and out to prove something

With Gallo and Bogi's contracts, would we be able to go over the Cap to re-sign them if we wanted to (and go into the tax)? I guess I'm asking if we'd have their Bird rights to use or will they walk if we are over the Cap? I don't want to be in a Boston / Hayward situation where the player leaves and we are over the cap so we have no recourse to replace them. Is that where we'll be in 3 years?
Hopefully when their contracts are up, Huerter, Hunter, and Cam have arrived and we have no need for Gallo or Bogi anymore.

I was thinking about this, this morning - If Haliburton doesn't inexplicably fall all the way to the Kings at 12, I wonder if they would have matched the Bogi offer sheet?

He attempted to make an excuses for Ainge, "we didn't want Charolette's assets. However, we probably should have taken the Indiana deal, but Danny was trying to play hardball. No one saw Charolette coming with that deal. "
Danny Ainge is always trying to win a trade. That's why he lost out. No lie, if BB comes, heck even without BB, the Hawks may be on par with the Celtics during the regular season.
He also used the opportunity to shat on Trae Young. Said he would have signed Jeremy Grant to a $25 million deal and tried to get Gallinari. Also, thiks the Hawks are not a playoff team with this roster because Trae Young doesn't play defense. He wasn't impressed with out off season. This was the same guy in Trae's rookie season said Trae isn't all that on the offensive end. At least he said Trae, is a great offensive player.
Turrible...just turrible news that an all world player like Brian Scalabrine doesn't like our offseason or Trae.
He'll eat crow soon enough.

Trae / Dunn / Rondo / Goodwin
Huerter / Cam / Mays
Hunter / FA / Snell
Collins / Gallinari
Capela / Okongwu / BrunoI count 14 if we guarantee Goodwin. Fingers crossed we can get a deal done for Bogdan for that last roster spot.
This definitely SHOULD BE a playoff team. It is on paper at least.

If we can get Bogdan, Trae literally might be going for 15 assists a game with all that shooting and with all the PnR big men we have.

Rashad called this signing a few days ago. He knows his Hawks. If Yoda likes the signing, hard for me to argue.

Any Bogdan update? Been away from Twitter and the Squawk all afternoon.
