  1. Some interesting data points here. 3 really stand out to me:

    1. JC is elite at both quality of looks and finishing. If you can’t find him, zoom in between LeBron and Joker. Yeah…he was THAT good.

    2. Capela… As most of us know, Clint was VERY bad at finishing. The worst in fact. What makes this even worse, is these were easy FG attempts.

Props to Trae here. Both JC and Cap are as far on the axes as they can go for “Easiest Rim Looks.” It’s a testament to just how great his passing is and how great he is at setting up our bigs.

    3. Gobert is very high on this list as well. Close to JC in fact. If you’re struggling to find him, he’s right below Aaron Gordon and only the bottom half of his face (mostly beard) is showing. Imagine pairing him with a point god like Trae.

Zach will develop into a monster this year. Luka and Aaron was a tough one for me especially since Luka is in year 3 and Aaron been around since 2006 but they have a lot of similarities. I question their clutchn factor, tremendous frontrunners, impossible to stop, they make everyone around them better on offense, statistically monsters, Luka biggest issue is athletic ability, Aaron holds the ball too long and gets hit a lot leading to injuries that other elite QBs avoid. Both have questionable leadership skills and personalities. I do feel you can win a title with Aaron as your best player as well as Luka as your best player.

You had Kyler Murray sitting right there unused and went with Zach Wilson instead for Trae??? Both are from OU, both undersized, and both are the engines running their teams.

Wilson hasn’t done anything in the NFL.

  3. Trying to think of a time in NBA history where a small backcourt had success...

The best example that I can think of were the bad-boy Pistons with Isiah Thomas at 6"1 and Joe Dumars at 6"3 and 190 lbs. This was before my time, but Joe made a number of all defensive teams and they also had Rodman and Laimbeer as enforcers. Joe was obviously a great defender...but it is possible to win with a small backcourt.

Mitchell is a couple inches shorter, but has about 25 pounds on Joe and I imagine a larger wingspan. I don't think it works in this case because Mitchell probably isn't half the defender Joe was...but he has the physical tools to be.

I don't think Trae and Mitchell work defensively...but just saying there is some precedent in NBA history of a small backcourt being successful. Can anyone else think of any?

It doesn't even work defensively.  The Hawks best defensive lineups involve a healthy JC.

How doesn’t it work defensively? I’m not going to go look for advanced metrics and stats, but my eye test tells me OO is a better defender than JC.

He had great games against Giannis, Embiid, and Bam as the primary defender this season. He also has a better physical profile for guarding 4’s and 5’s. Pair him with Gobert and I think we’re on to something on defense.

It’s just not a great fit on offense until OO develops his shot to help with spacing.

There is a lot more projection with OO developing a reliable jumpshot if you ask me.

I think as long as center is upgraded, hell, even without an upgrade, we should be good to go with JC at PF.  OO is not the answer at PF.  He's always been a center.  That's a big ask for him to go from center to PF in one off season.  JJ projects as a better PF imo.

If the Hawks run it back, they have to hope for Hunter to take a leap and find another perimeter defender and ball handler.  - The answer to me is SGA, but some say he is untouchable. If I'm Travis, I'd give OKC almost anything they wanted to get him.

There are only like two PF's that I'd trade JC for.  1. Siakam 2. AD

Giannis isn't going anywhere.  KD isn't going anywhere.

Yeah I'm 100% on board with an SGA trade and giving up whatever we need to in order to get him. I think OKC probably considers him untouchable though.

I tend to agree with you on OO/JC. It would be asking a lot of OO to move to the 4 and I don't think it's a move a championship level team should be making. I get why Supes is saying it though defensively...I just don't think it works offensively.

I'm down with AD or Siakam IF we're paring with Gobert. I think that would work great on both ends.

To answer that last question. I don't know. What you like is Okongwu can rebound but he has to be more determined on the offensive boards which Travis challenged him in his season review. He has to add range. 3 point shot will be nice but he needs at least a respectable mid range that will force teams not to sag off in coverage. Okongwu is still a good movement player but a far cry from JC who's elite at it. It will be a process. We know he has the shooting touch, he just has to have the confidence.

Okongwu had to take a leap, its year 3.

Defensively, it would be amazing. I even think we can Millsap him where he's doing a lot of off ball stuff which JC just wasn't capable of on that end.

If these trades do anything, it gives us a floor to match our ceiling. That said, we still gotta work and develop. I really like the idea of getting Bouknight from Charlotte for taking on Hayward contract. I think Bouknight has a lot of things we are looking for in a SG in time.

I like it and I think it's a projection that could actually happen, unlike a lot of ideas that have been posted on here, myself included lol.

A LOT just hinges on OO17 figuring out his jump shot. It's a big gamble.

    Trae/Delon/Cooper

    Bogi/Bouknight/Agbaji

    Hunter/Hayward/Brown

    Okongwu/JJ. - See above

    Gobert/McGee/Dieng

I get where you're going with this and I think it's a pretty good projection based on what will probably be available to us. Trae/Bogi on the perimeter scares me defensively, but we did make the ECF last year with them guarding the perimeter. Hunter/OO/Gobert are obviously huge improvements in the frontcourt defensively compared to Huerter/JC/Cap who were holding down for us during that ECF run. Defensively, I think this works and works great.

The fit I do question is OO and Gobert offensively - assuming OO can't develop his jump shot. Which maybe he can, but I'm not going to assume it. Isn't this just going to clog up the lane for Trae? It's fine having one guy who can't shoot, but with OO and Gobert, they both can't do anything outside of the paint. I don't know if that works in today's NBA.

@NBASupes, how do you see OO and Gobert working offensively together? Trae's a magician, so if anyone can utilize them together it would be him.

Here are my ideal off season moves.

    image.thumb.png.b23eabdfb9ccca3589584b405112a215.png

Opening night roster - Knox is not on the roster.  - Maybe about $18 million into the tax if Trae gets the super max.

Do you think this roster would be a championship contender? If not, what do you think the biggest issue would be with it?  The trades are unrealistic?  The OKC picks are unprotected which is crazy in this day and age, but I feel it's worth the risk to try to get a championship. May throw one more in there, but the machine doesn't go out to 2029.

    Thoughts @JayBirdHawk, @thecampster, @Spud2nique, @NBASupes, @Sothron, @AHF, @sillent ,  @JeffS17, @kg01 (you will hate Mitchell Robinson, but I figured we'd need a defensive back up center), @Diesel?

    Edit: @lethalweapon3, @ShooterSays,  @Final_quest, @TheNorthCydeRises

Just getting SGA and Ayton would be a homerun offseason. Bonus on top of that if we can keep Hunter, JC, Kev, and even JJ. Go ahead and build Travis a statue now lol. He'd be in AA territory if he could swing all of this.

I think I'm just in the minority on here who thinks there's a <1% chance PHX lets Ayton go. If they lose their mind and do, we're probably one of the most attractive trade partners with Cap.

Love the SGA fit with Trae. Just same question here as to if OKC would let him go. But I'd be willing to part with the whole team and all draft picks outside of Trae to get a Big 3 of Trae/SGA/Ayton.

I forgot about Flip!!!  There's a name running around my head.. "E-Mail"  I was trying to remember who...

Zaza and Bibby were stars...  Zaza is a NBA Champion...  Bibby was 2nd Generation Gold...

In what basketball multiverse was Zaza ever a star? Zaza is no more a star for winning an NBA Championship than Luc Longley is...

@NBASupes, @thecampster, @Sothron any word on what it would take to get SGA from Oklahoma? Presti doesn't need picks unless it is way in the future. I'd literally give them unprotected picks in 24 and 27 for him.

My dream off season is SGA and Ayton.

    Starting lineup

    1 Young

    2 SGA

    3 Hunter

    4 Collins

    5 Ayton

    Bench

    1 Cooper

    2 Wright

    3 Huerter

    4 Johnson

5 Nurkic ( pipe dream free agent signing with the tax payer mid level exception. His market is worth more than that.  So probably Deing here)

OO had to be shipped to OKC to get SGA with the two unprotected picks.

    I'm ready for the flamming...lol

This would be a dream, but doubt OKC bites.

  11. Hunter ain’t the problem with this team. He makes a couple bad plays a game, but this disaster falls on coaching. Spo has outcoached Nate every second of this series.

and Trae ain’t right. I think the ankle is bothering him. I’ve watched every game for 4 years and something is off with him. Never seen him not be able to get by a defender and into the paint unless he’s hurt.
