Prayers to Sothron

Yeah I can't see that happening. I personally think only way we get it this season is if they avoid the play in. Otherwise I dont think we will retain that pick this year. I also expect them to make a run for lavine in the summer and get better on paper. All things equal, if you told me the pick was in same spot this year or next and we were guaranteed to get it next I would defer it for 2025

If Edey or Cligan were here they wouldn't start over anybody. I don't think Quin would start any rookie big over either of those guys. Edey would be in the g league learning the structure from the skyhawks. Only big that would probably play up with the hawks imo would be clingan

I disagree. The pick is more valuable next year when we don't have a pick + there is slightly less protections on it next year (1-13). That basically is saying will the kings be a play in team and as constructed there is no reason to believe they won't be. Pick 13-17 in a much stronger class where we own no pick>>>

Had a good plan till you drafted Edey and started him over a much better player

Coach Mike Brey: Talks State of the Hawks and plan for next season
Mikey replied to JayBirdHawk's topic in Homecourt
This! Onyeka struggles on defense are far overblown in mine opinion. He struggled in the beginning adjusting the the scheme change but over time he's gotten much better. The hawks defensive issues aren't even at center imo (though I agree clint regression hasn't helped). Their team defense from their guards and wings this year has been awful. Rotations and help defense has been so bad this season. When Onyeka and Jalen play together they are good the problem was we didn't get to see a ton of those minutes. Onykea versatility opens up so much for this team on both ends. Find the forward to pair with those two (probably ends up being Flip) -

doesnt matter if it works in the nba. It is proven it does not work for this iteration of the hawks -

Quin is signing his death sentence if he tries to keep Dejounte and Trae together -
Clingan and castle are two guys that are just wow on defense. Fun watches on that end of the floor

Official Game Thread: Pelicans at Hawks (6 PM Tip!)
Mikey replied to lethalweapon3's topic in Homecourt
I always laugh when people get on here and say our defense without Trae is better. Its only looked good cause we have played injured rattled teams. Every healthy team we have played has torched us- 112 replies

An all star big had a good game against Onyeka. Same big basically had 20/20 on Clint LOL. Good players will get theres regardless. Onyeka is good. Lineups with him and Jalen have the best net rating on the team. Find the compliment (like Flip in the draft). Hawks starting Onyeak isn't a problem when you get a backup who can play some more minutes in specific matchups.

I think he will be the pseudo backup PG next year while playing a fair share of his minutes next to Trae

I'd move Kobe into the guard group. Wing room probably changes a lot in summer if I had to guess. Does Bey get paid from someone else? Imagine Griffin is on way out. Definitely need to use a pick on big though

Is he bogi bad no. But he is definitely on the negative side IMO. At his age too its not great the lapses he has as a team defender. The flip side of this is that Skyhawks have a great defensive structure he could learn and improve on (but 23 in g league would get interesting)
-
Yeah he's been a nice surprise in CBB this year. Excited to watch him in the tourney. He absolutely fits Quin system I just don't know if we can afford another "bad" defender. If they move off some guys though he can slot in

Also Vuc has career averages of 17/11 on the hawks all time. He torches them regardless who is center. Jarret Allen just had 18 and 19 REBOUNDS on Clint Capela. You guys care too much about height and individual stats.

I don't care if my center is the one grabbing the rebounds vs the entire team lol. You also listed Jabari Smith who isn't his matchup lmao. Doesn't matter who rebounds the ball as long as the Hawks are the one getting it. The team's net rating with him is better than and they played some of their best ball and competed with the best teams when he started. Get a backup center in FA or Draft to play minutes in bigger matchups or a 4 to compliment O and Jalen.
