Took good shots. Only made one. But he was open on all of them. Didn’t force anything crazy. Looked confident shooting. Never looked lost or flustered in the offense. Defense is what really impressed me. IMO, young players can feel like they need to score to be seen or have their presence felt. He went 1 for 4. Could’ve packed it in. But he didn’t. Never sulked or looked shook. He turned up his defense to compensate. Looked really confident there. Looked like he could hang and he looked like he belonged. Stayed in front of the ball handler. Hands up. Hands out in the passing lane. Quick feet. Good lateral movement. Can open his stance, stay close and run with them to maintain or regain position. Really impressed with what he showed on defense. More effort than most.

I think he played well and stayed in the flow of the game. Looked comfortable. I hope it continues. These extended minutes allow them to discover the confidence they need to feel like they can contribute at this level. Keep stacking minutes. Confidence keeps blossoming. I’m hoping AJ isn’t too far behind.

Been battling adversity all season. 7 guys that have the ability to go for 20 on any given night. And guys are still going in and out missing games. Lightbulb is starting to go on and it’s nice to see them finding ways to win with the continuos carrousel of lineups. Granted luck might have something to do with that regarding certain matchups. But the potential is there to cause some ruckus if they can get and stay healthy the rest of the way.

The potential JJ displays is just incredible. Still smidges of hesitation here and there. Maybe it’s doubt or uncertainty credited to still being young. But man, once he gets stronger inside and realizes he has the ability to impose his will it’s going to be lights out.

Watched Kickboxer (Van Damme movie) the other day with my 7 year old. First scene with Tong Po (main bad guy), my kid said, “Hey, that’s the guy from the Rockets”. Cracked me up.

Whole thing went to chit after halftime. Still felt like we had plenty of ops to be up by 10. Looked like everyone was waiting for somebody else to pick them up and get them going.
