  2. Quote: Damn Woodson should have left MArvin in the game as he was our best rebounder tonight. He has got to learn to stay with the hot hand and forget about his messed up rotations. Its like no matter how good Marvin is playing once his time is up he is out of there. Speaking of rebounding, where was Zaza late? At least he can make FTs and be aggressive on the boards.
  3. Quote: They have almost 50 fta Just horrible defense I am not so sure that is a commentary on the D as much as it was the refs being itchy with the whistle. There were a lot of borderline calls.
  4. Quote: Quote: OMG what a flake. Guy thinks he should have veto power wtf. Ron is a top 10 player in the NBA, but he's worth more than a Peja that's on the decline. Although, I must say that Ron is a jerk as a person. 1. Artest is not a top 10 player...especially now with tis fiasco. 2. What an odd situation. According to ESPN right now, they are calling a wednesday morning meeting to talk with Ron and see if he will accept the trade. What a mess.
  5. Per ESPN.com. Breaking news! No Al/Artest deal now.
  6. Quote: Nice to see SOMEBODY give credit to Lue for 17 pts (all in the second half) 7 assits and 3 steals. However saying they can't lose with him playing like that is a stretch. Their D played a big role. JJ, Marvin and Al all shot well. It takes a lot more than a good game from Lue for the Hawks to win consistently. Al even had 2 or 3 steals. Nice to see especially when Smith had a pretty poor game.

Quote: Quote: I have strange thoughts like bringing in a defensive C to split time with zaza (like Battie) Battie already has bad knees and he is weak. And sucks.

Quote: Zaza can't guard anyone. If you can't see that then you aren't paying attention. His lack of hops/lateral movement are going to prevent him from ever being a good defender. Last game he had a dunk blocked by the rim. And he has fumbleitis. Przy is a strong interior defender. I watched him outscore Shaq the last time they played, before he picked up a couple of touch fouls on other players and fouled. And he is 7th in blocks even though he plays only 25 minutes. Fine. Get rid of Zaza for Joel Pryz. Best of luck.
  9. Quote: I think Denver would strongly consider JJ for Miller/Nene. They have no desire to get into a bidding war for Nene AND JJ is the best 2 gaurd that they can get besides Pierce. If you think about it, they have Boykin/Watson to man the PG position and JJ brings 3 pt shooting that they lack. That's a good squad: Boykin/JJ/Mello/Martin/Camby... Not a chance.
  10. Quote: Whichever way it is, Shelden Williams was one foul away from fouling out in that game, and the refs let him get away with murder after collecting that last foul. I do agree with this statement. They refused to foul him out in the case of OT.

Quote: Quote: Watch Diop ssssllllooowwwwlllyyyy run down the floor. He makes SAR look like Deion Sanders out there. At least Zaza hustles, draws fouls, can make offensive moves, AND rebounds. Honestly, I laughed out loud reading this... And it's true. Glad someone agrees.

Quote: I am not a fan of Diop, I am just saying that it isn't as crazy a comparison as it seems. Diop works well in Dallas but having been a bust for so long it is hard to say how he would do at 32 minutes per game. Basically I would like to see Zaza traded at some point because he just isn't that good. Since he is a young big signed to a reasonable contract they might be able to land a pg in return. Basically I would like to see them draft a big, sign Przy and trade Zaza. That would shore up their interior D. I knew Joel Pryz would be in here eventually. He is not what we need. Zaza is 21, and gaining experience, confidence and handle...you want to trade a guy in the upswing of his career for a guy who is capped out both on ability AND money? Get real. Comedy: iTunes just shuffled to "Play that Funky Music" by Vanilla Ice!

Quote: I just answered that. It doesn't matter. Hollingers stats take into account the number of missed shots. So teams are shooting 48% against...we shoot 45%. Of course there will be more offensive rebounds to be had. Let me ask you this: would you trade Diop for Pachulia straight up? Hint: if you say "yes", you are out of your effing mind.

    What if

Quote: Oops. Anyway Eddie Griffin and Lorenzen Wright are the only centers that shoot worse than Zaza. Teams are shooting 48% against us. And yes Zaza is 30th in defensive rebounding, and the Hawks are 29th in defensive rebounding as a team. Again I say: What are teams shooting against us?

    What if

Quote: Quote: Yeah, and Keith Brooking is a "pile jumper" and his stats are padded. What a lame argument. So how is it that Zaza is number 1 in offensive rebounding yet he is 30th in defensive rebounding? First of all: Quote: Join Insider now to see the complete Hollinger statistics. Second of all: What are teams shooting against us?
  16. Quote: You didn't answer the question. Do you think getting double or triple teamed should have no effect on his scoring? Doesn't seem to bother Redick. Nor did it bother Tim Duncan.

    What if

Quote: And how many of those opportunities were his own misses? That is why his offensive rebound numbers are much better than his defensive rebounding numbers. He throws up a bad shot and most of the time it is short so he is already in position to get it back. I bet you can't find one starting center who shoots a worse percentage or has a worse turnover ratio. Yeah, and Keith Brooking is a "pile jumper" and his stats are padded. What a lame argument.

    What if

Quote: Quote: If Zaza is that bad offensively...then what is Diop? By that rationale, Diop should be in the D-League. You still don't get it. Diop isn't part of their offense. His role is to play defense and rebound. his only points come on put backs or layups. Diop is a liability on one end, Zaza is a liability on both ends. Zaza has given us how many 2nd chance opportunities this year? 131. Diop has 75 this year. And on a team that shoots so much, that is terrible. Seriously, just stop now. Zaza is so much better overall, it is embarrassing to even argue. Yes, Diop gets more blocks, but so effing what? I have yet to hear anyone talking about Diop being a "free agency steal" like they do about Zaza...and that is from opposing team talking heads.

    What if

Quote: So why does Dallas give up 8 fewer points when he is on the floor? Your argument is that Zaza is a better offensive player, but in fact Zaza is a poor offensive player. A center that shoots 42% and turns it over that much is a liability. That together with the fact that he can't guard anyone means that he is a liability on both ends. If Zaza is that bad offensively...then what is Diop? By that rationale, Diop should be in the D-League. So going by blocks as the defining stat, would you want Shawn Bradley over his career? Or would you want Vlade Divac? I thought so. Why in the hell am I arguing over this?
  20. Duff_Man

    What if

Quote: Again you are looking at only one end of the floor. Diops role is to play defense and rebound. They have enough scorers there. The Hawks big problem is their interior D, and Zaza is a big part of that. If you are going to be a defensive liability you need to be a strong contributor offensively, and Zaza isn't. He is the worst shooter and the most turnover prone player on the team. If I am only looking at one end, you're only looking at the other. Zaza is a FAR better player than Diop. If we had Diop, we'd be absolutely awful every night...but at least he'd block 2 pretty shots per game and we'd lose by 26 instead of 30. Watch Diop ssssllllooowwwwlllyyyy run down the floor. He makes SAR look like Deion Sanders out there. At least Zaza hustles, draws fouls, can make offensive moves, AND rebounds. Your argument is like saying "would we be better with Manute than Mark West?"
  21. Duff_Man

    What if

Quote: Tell that to Dallas fans, who love Diop and in fact he is now starting for them. Zaza is basically a liability right now. Because Eric Dampier (who was wanted BIG TIME by this board) sucks. When Disgana Diop is your starting center, you're in big trouble. Yes, he is now starting...here's his latest contribution: Mins: 20 Pts: 2 Rebs: 7 Ast: 1 (how?) Fouls: 0 Blocks: 2 So over 40 minutes, his numbers are: Mins: 40 Pts: 4 Rebs: 14 Ast: 2 (again...how?) Fouls: 0 (aggressive) Blocks: 4 Plus: he is 17-39 from the line on the SEASON. Zaza is 140-198...140 points added in games by going to the line...I am not sure how Diop is better...is there a category other than blocks? I am sorry, but this is pathetic. His season high in points is a whopping 8! His CAREER high is 10! The guy sucks and Zaza is currently better and will be far better in the next three years.
  22. Quote: Since, we are about Developing and not winning, we should just trade Al and JJ. Why keep those commitments when we are not committed to trying to win anythying. HALF WAY doesn't work. Here's a plan. We can keep Woody as coach since he's such a developer.. And we can trade JJ to the Nuggets for Nene/Miller. We trade Al for Toronto's pick and Araujo at the break. In the draft we get Morrison and Aldridge. Our new squad would be: Miller/Morrison/Marvin/Smoove/Nene. with Aldridge/Araujo/Lue all off the bench. If we are going to be a developing squad, let's save money and be a developing squad. If we are going to try to win, then let's try to win. However, let's figure out what we want to do. It makes no sense to keep JJ here if we're not going to try to win. Moreover, Morrison is probably going to be a much better SG than JJ. There is a borderline platoff team out there that could really use Al...which one? I am not sure.
  23. Quote: well would you rather we went small and athletic or tried to get some size in there on the inside? maybe some size would help our defense? To be honest, I think the starting lineup needs to play 48 minutes. Since that ain't happening, we need some bodies to be upgraded. Edwards is a great start.
  24. Quote: Quote: Georgetown Center dominated Williams yesterday. He showed the world what will happen when Williams play 7 footers. Georgetowns center scored a whopping 2 pts. Now THAT is funny.
  25. Quote: so if it takes a team to play defense, we need to change the coach, and it's not necessarily al's fault. but if al isn't playing defense, the coach should bench him, that's all there is to it. i'm sure there are players on this team that would love to take al's shots, all we'd need to do is ask. i think the change needs to take place with the head coach I am keeping quiet on that one. I think Woody is in over his head here. Have him coach a team like the 76ers and he may have a good team going there. But who knows?
