I mean, I hope the dude makes a full recovery and all that.  I'm sympathetic and empathetic and everything.   But geez man, every year it's something when they lose.

He is a walking injury and/or excuse machine.  Either way, nobody is winning with him as the focal point.  I have never seen anyone that big play so soft, so often.  Not sure if it is him trying to stay injury free, he is out of shape, or he has no dawg in him.  Or all of the above.

I see it as different.  I think if it was going to be treated similarly you would make the minimum condition a minimum number of shot attempts.  Minimum plate appearances = minimum number of attempts.  # of 3's = # of hits.

So in baseball you need just over 500 plate appearances to qualify for the batting title.  The NBA rule would be like having a requirement that you get 162 hits in a season instead.

I think that is fair.  But I think the idea of a minimum in some fashion is similar between sports.  Now the debate about which is better (number vs attempts), is a different and interesting discussion.

I just looked it up.  The statistical minimum to qualify for 3pt% is 82 3pt shots made.  Number of attempts is irrelevant.  You can quality by going 82-82 or 82-250.  Obviously, once you qualify the leaderboard is driven by % made.

This is similar in baseball with a minimum number of innings for pitchers and number of plate appearances for hitters in regards to different leaderboard qualifications.

Do you (the royal collective “you” not just you NCR) think Bruno has proven himself enough to Quin to be a capable, reliable second string center?

Has he shown enough to the coaches/FO to give them the confidence to trade CC and roll with OO, Bruno, and a rookie 5? Or Trade CC & OO and get an upgrade to our starting 5?

I think so, at least at his contract price point. I just wonder if Quin will be willing to roll with it.

Bruno is a great 3rd center and possibly a decent backup.  It is worth rolling the nice with him as the backup if we can trade CC (among others) for a front court upgrade.

The main thing to take away from this game is that’s it easier to play better defense with one point guard on the court than two. This is why we have to trade Dejounte Murray. Also, we need more size on this team to make it easier for Trae. Good win.

Yeah Ive been saying this since 2018.. Trae improved but he can only do so much at his size..We need D all around him.. But then the offense would suffer... Shit aint easy man..

Trae with three 3 and D wings with SIZE and an Elite offensive center is how Ive always said we should be built..

Everyone has to be able to guard multiple positions..

    Still what we need.

I guess "treatment options" sounds better than "meds." But really there should be no shame in taking psychiatric medication. It saves lives. I'm sure the team has a top notch psychiatrist and therapist working with him. If he misses more significant time next year for the same reason his career might be in jeopardy. There are only so many roster spots and teams will accommodate only so much. Hopefully he's aware of what's at stake and can recover from his personal struggles.

Mental health is no joke and cognitive behavioral therapy (among other therapy modalities) along with medication can be instrumental in helping people recover.  In the COVID and post-COVID world mental health issues have skyrocketed.  I hope he can get back on track and will accept help (if he hasn’t already).

This is a good discussion here from everyone.  Well thought out and respectful.  Kudos Hawksquawkers.

Also going to post this here.  Look how well correlated team salary and team success is in the NBA.

Hawks are 22nd in record and 22nd in Salary.  LOL  If Messy Ressy actually wants to win, he'll open up the checkbook.

    NBA Salary vs Record.jpg

Thank you for this.  We are a feeder franchise until we pay to play with the true contenders.

FU!!!! 31!!!! Oh you fck!!! Wait’ll you get near 50, it’s a frickin breakdown every night. 😂

I don’t tell @kg01 this but sometimes after Hawks games I go to the bathroom 🚽 and cry 😢.

ps Planning my 50th bday party. Hoping to have it in Atlanta and attending a Hawks game. That’s the plan!

    Go Hawks!!!

If you do this we should make it our next Hawksquawk get together at a game.  @Mikey or @Sothron y’all gonna have to talk to Ressler about giving all of us Squawkers a discount like back in the day when we went and the owners were trying to find Diesel.

yep.  That douche Rick Carlisle literally said the Hawks were wrong to fire him after all the great work LP did for the democratic party.

Having political stances make you popular in sports is dumb.

LP made a bad mistake in his role as a steward of the Hawks.  Should have listened to his Grandma and just said nothing if he had nothing good to say about his own player.  No doubt in my mind that many immature young players have benefited from time around successful vets as in the national team format.  LP could have done himself and Trae a favor by supporting Trae's candidacy but I suspect he saw Trae's warts every day and wanted to make sure he didn't look bad to Pops.  I would hope that LP has learned a few lessons over time and would make a different decision if he had the chance to do it over again.

Whatever quotes from other coaches about how wrong it was for Atlanta to fire a coach who had lost his team and was struggling, it is no coincidence that no team has hired him since.  We are years from his termination and I don't think he has gotten close to getting back to a head coaching role and that says everything given how many coaches get second, third, etc. chances.

Hill is just a phony who is now in a position for which he is not qualified.  Nothing good to say about him.  What a disappointment.

As Shakes used earlier as a description, Grant Hill is a grifter.  How he is doing it again with the Orioles.  He is going to be like Scrooge McDuck soon and not have to do anything:  he is even terrible at being the “face” of the ownership group.  At least Magic Johnson is charismatic.

I'm going to add that this all star snub is squarely on the Hawks organization.   I know we've debated the financial merits of what the Hawks are doing but having competent depth at the 3&4 we wouldn't have cratered so hard when JJ and Hunter went down with injuries.

Yes.  Why are we so terrible at marketing?  It should be a full court press (see what I did there!?!) on getting Trae in every year.  More money for the owners, more exposure for the team, Trae is happier, and TNT is next door.  Blows my mind.

I think he just has some influential connections among the coaching community and they have had his back and dragged Trae as a result.  This despite the fact that it is pretty much unheard of for any coach to undermine his own player the way LP did with Trae.  Talk about stabbing someone in the back and then pretending to be the victim.

After that all came out I am not a fan of the guy at all.  Same with Grant Hill.  Support your team and your players.  If it was an Isaiah Rider situation I could see it but Trae is not that despite what some may say.
