  1. I like the idea of future draft picks, but Marvin will be better than Jared next year. I would only trade Marvin for a star, because believe or not he still has potential.
  2. I believe we will win more games next year with Bibby running the point all year. I think we were .500 with him this year trying to learn the system. I do like Hibbert, but we need to add some veterans next year.
  3. I know most of you prefer to trade about the half the existing team, but this move is more realistic. Artest would have to become a free agent, but Hayes and Deke will be for sure. It creates a salary cap problem, so Childress will have to walk and Speedy's contract would have to go. These three players gives us scoring with Artest and Hayes. In additon, Deke and Artest gives us defense. I would like to move Marvin to the bench and have Artest in the starting five. These moves would help us move in the right direction with some additional veterans.
  4. I'm not a fan of trading Brand for Smoove. We need to keep Smoove and hope he becomes a superstar, that is our best chance of going to the finals. I do like your idea of bringing in Jarvis who has a good all around game. He would give us a scoring threat off the bench. I'm not sure how much Diop will cost, but that move would be an improvement too. I still like the idea of bring in Mutumbo for a cheap big man.
  5. I heard the samething and thought it was a complement. He basically was saying the Hawks are an athletic team, while the Cav's are jump shooters and Lebron. We just need a solid shooter like Wittman use to be.
  6. After watching the Celtics play against Lebron, it makes the Hawks look better. Even with shooters it is hard to score on the Celtics at home. We need another scorer who can shoot and penetrate. It looks like Artest will take his 8.5 million option. I would let Childress walk, if Artest would opt out and sign with the Hawks.
  7. They will need to sign Iggy to close to max and will not be able to max out Smith. I'm not to woried about Smith leaving, but he should get about 11 to 12 million over the next few years.
  8. I don't think Marvin will be traded, unless Childress is not resigned. His contract is a bargain for a starting SF. He was one of the main reasons we won game six, because he is one of the few people on the team who can shoot a jumper. Childress and Smith cannot shoot. We need another shooter and scorer badly to punish double teams. I would like to have a big, but the shooter is more important. I think a player like Aloonzo or Deke would be fine as a Big.
  9. I think Milwaukee is kind of stuck with not enough talent to get into the playoffs and too good for a 1-3 pick. This means a team that can't go anywhere. This post is one of the best since it offers an option that is interesting. I think we would have to add a little more, but Redd would kill on JJ double teams.
  10. I agree that Smith should not be mentioned in trades. He is going to improve his decison making and jump shot. When that happens - we will have our no 1 option. I wouldn't mention Al Horord's name either, but everyone else can be traded. Joe would have to bring back somthing huge!
  11. Yes, Deke would just be one year deal, but he gives us a real 7' defensive presence. I wish we did not build our team to run, because it doesn't work in the playoffs. The Hawk's in the 80's only won in the playoff's because of Nique. The running and gunning is stopped in the playoffs and you have to run a half court offense. The Hawks don't know how to run that and it is the coach and the tpe of players.
  12. Playing one of the best teams in the league has been good for evaluation. We need to make some moves this summer besides a coach and GM, but that would help. We need a defensive big man that can come in the game and clog the middle. I think Deke could come in and play 15 minutes a night and throw some elbows, rebound and block some shots. The best thing about him is the cheap price. Another big guy who can play would be nice too. I think we need to let Childress go and move Marvin in a trade. We need to add a scoring SF or SG that can shoot and drive to the basket. I was hoping to get some ideas that fit under the salary cap and realistic. I don't think Josh Smith will get the max.
  13. Diop would be a good addition off the bench for the right price. I watched Mutumbo play the other night and he looks like a good bench player. He seems to still have a defensive presence. He is cheap and should end his career here.
  14. I don't undersatand the JJ bashers, except there comparing him to Lebron or Kobe. He is not at there level consistently, but some nights he is at there level. He is comparable to Wade or McGrady. I've been diasppointed with Marvin's development this year. I think he will continue to inprove, but we need to trade him for another small forward or center.
  15. We need to let Childress walk and sign Artest. He would provide a second scoring option and great defense. This would allow Marvin to come off the bench until he improves his consistency. I'm tired of watching poor defense and Joe getting tripled team. Joe has been outstanding of late!
  16. I went to The Miami game on Saturday and came away unimpressed with Marvin. He played poorly and was 0 for 8. I realize it was a bad game for him, but he really needs to improve quickly. Zaza is a total waste. Joe was awesome and can't believe some of the talk about him on this site. He had a great game! Josh Smith was impressive and scores easily inside, but still needs to work on his jumper. Bibby looks hurt, but is a real point guard. Childress is always sneaking around the baseline. Al is playing well, but he needs some help inside. I would like for us to pick up a defensive wing player and a big that can defend. We never play the passing lanes and rarely get steals. The guards just drive down the middle and get layups.
  17. I was watching CSS tonight and Bob Neal was saying there is something brewing. All the owners are attending the game. Woody may be on the way out. That would make alot of fans here happy. The lead is at 4.
  18. We have quite few home games coming against mainly average opponents. We should get back in the playoff race with these games. I think the Hawks will take a huge step in the next ten games. This is the most excited I have been about the Hawks in years. I use to post here, but it has been quite awhile. I still do read alot and enjoy the talk. The new web site is great!
  19. I think we did the best that we could, considering the talent available. I did not want Sheldon at #5, but we needed to fill a hole. Sheldon may turn out to be better than we think. I think Speedy was the best option besides Cassell and we tried to sign him. I think the Lo siging is what we needed. I always liked Lo. The coming season will be determined by how much improvement ZaZa, Smooth and Marvin have made. We should see some improvement this year, but how much is the question.
  20. I disagree about both and think Reddick will be a good choice 10 - 20. He reminds me of Randy Wittman, which means he wll need screens to get off his shot. I have a feeling that Morrison will be a future all-star. He will not be a great defender, but the guy can score on people. He will be able to create shots within a system. He is top 5 in this draft.
  21. If so, What type of game does he have?
  22. I prefer Sam Cassell to any of the unrestricted free agents. I would be happy with picking up Roy in the draft and a sign and trade with Harrington for Nene. This would give Roy time to learn from Cassell. Cassell / Lue / Roy JJ /Childress / Salim Smith / MW / Childress Nene / Smith Zaza / Anderson
  23. I agree we need to continue building for the future, however three years is to long. We should compete for a playoff spot next year. I will be satisfied with an additional 10 wins, which is close to a playoff spot. We need to sign a free agent, so were not wasting high draft picks.
  24. I agree that we need a true PF and not some big stiff. Aldridge is the perfect fit for us. Odom next year will be a true center, but they come around once every five years.
  25. I voted for the Braves, because if the right owners are picked than it will be easier. They just need more payroll and some good luck. I do think the Hawks are probably second, but who knows whats going in the front office / ownership.
