  1. Unbelievable tradition. The biggest F'en fools in professional sports.
  2. Wrong. Even if Trae Young is a good idea, make a deal to draft him later. Instead, this idiot traded for a conditional pick in a lousy draft. He was gifted Luka Doncic and made a ridiculous deal. This is simply very poor management.
  3. Acquire the #4 pick. Give Memphis massive cap relief and throw in Bazemore. Draft Doncic and Bamba. Work a trade up from #19 to draft Young. Just do it.
  4. The thing is that this draft is perfectly set up for the Hawks to make several moves that would culminate in a roster featuring: Collins, Prince, Bamba, Doncic and Young. The deals are there to be made. Drafting Doncic and then lazily trading him for Young and other assets that stand questionable chances of panning out, is a big gaff. The Hawks should finish tonight with the above mentioned starting roster. The team would surely suffer through at least one dismal season, but in two years could be the fastest rising team in the league.
  5. Tom Jenkins ribs, collard greens, mac/cheese and corn muffins.
  6. Yes, Trae could be just as good. But right now, perception is truth. Right now, trading Doncic for Young, a player widely believed to be more flawed, would damage the trust of Hawks fans. Regardless of who is kept, the Hawks will lose a lot of games the next two seasons. The bitterness of losing will be compounded every night, as Luca is featured on ESPN highlights. It would be a foolish move.
  7. That would alienate many, many people for many years.
  8. Perhaps I am expecting too much, but I think that Schlenk has enough bargaining chips to finish the night with Bamba, Doncic and Young on the roster......along with Collins and Prince. If he does that, then he will have earned the respect of every Atlantan.
  9. Giving Memphis massive cap relief AND the #7 pick in this draft is a lot. There can not be many offers for the #4 pick that involves cap relief to the tune of $25M/year.
  10. I am sorry for being so obtuse, but I need to clarify. Is it going to go down like this?: We have a deal for Chicago's #7. The deal involves the Hawks' #19 and #30 picks, Dennis Schröder and some bad contracts going back to the Hawks. The Hawks use the newly acquired #7 and works a trade with Memphis for their #4. Memphis gets Parsons off their books, as well as the #7 pick. The Hawks acquire the #4. Hawks' Draft: #3: Mo Bamba (the Hawks' BPA) #4: Luca Doncic. They either keep Luca or work a big deal with another team. Is that it?
  11. Young has earned the rep of a lousy defender, but was that be design? He was the only offensive threat on his team. Asking a freshman to carry the team offensively takes a major physical toll. Is it possible that his HC directed Young to catch his breath on defense?
  12. I would keep the #3 and go hard after the #4. Doncic and JJJ. Bamba would also work, but I still believe JJJ has more potential. Frankly, I would be happy with either JJJ or Bamba. The Hawks could end up with a set-up man and a quick big with those two picks......and both of them are young and still growing. So, what, besides Parsons' contract, would it take to acquire the Memphis pick?
  13. He is 19 years old and has been competing against adults for several years. He has about 2-3 years of growth potential. This guy can get leaner and more athletic very quickly. How is he a concern?
  14. Will the Hawks acquire the #4? I really think this is the draft to take advantage of the lottery picks. Next year I think the draft will have lesser talent.
  15. Winning games for the next two seasons does not matter. Winning championships after three seasons matters.
  16. If the Hawks make deals for the 3rd and 4th picks of this draft and they manage to move up from the #19, they will compete for the playoffs in three seasons. By then, they will have four seriously good young players that can attract ANY star free agent that is available.
  17. Yes, in a quick fix scenario, drafting Doncic and a Big makes sense. But, keep in mind that the Hawks will not compete in the playoffs next season. One can argue that it would be better to build the team slowly with the best talent available. If that best talent is a big, then draft him, but if not, go for the top quality prospect. There will be time to balance the team's roster.
  18. Hey, I am new here, so I don't know when someone is being sarcastic. Did you just write that Atlanta is not a desirable city? I think you meant to write that the Hawks are not a desirable team to join (at the moment). Atlanta (the city) is a highly desirable city for athletes and anyone with money.
  19. Will the Hawks take Parsons and add the #4?
  20. Great. Take Parson's contract, give Memphis #19 and take the #4. Wait for Ayton and Bagley to come off the board then, Draft Bamba or JJJ with the #3, and wait for the phone calls with desperate offers for the #4. If none are appealing, draft Young and be done with it.
  21. So, draft Doncic. Accept Parson's contract for the #4 and draft Bamba. Spend the next two seasons developing Doncic and Bamba, while the Parson contract works its way off the books. By that time, the Hawks will have a very talented set of players: Bamba, Collins, Prince and Doncic. At that time, if a PG has not been developed, sign the top free agent.
  22. The team is in full rebuild. What is wrong with drafting a foundation player? Stars become free agents. And what do they look for? A supporting cast of strong foundation players. I personally don't care which one of these prospects we draft. All I care about is drafting a mentally tough person that can withstand the losing that will happen for two straight seasons. Who is the foundation player that can take the losing, and still be loyal to the team and never stop working to perfect his craft? That is the the guy I want. F the stats in college, high school or the European leagues. In the long run, they mean far less than hyped. Draft the talented prospect that has the character of a champion that rises out of the muck.
  23. To be honest, the clips I have seen of Doncic do not look impressive to me. I think his ball handling is a bit clumsy. His shot outside of the arc is not great. I also think he is flat out slow. My hope is that he can turn fat into muscle and develop some quickness. Of course, he is very young and can develop into a sharp shooter from the arc, but right now, I just don't see what everyone else is excited about.
  24. If all that has been opined by the posters on this board, is true, why would Bagley fall to the third pick? Realistically, a player of that caliber will have to be taken within the first two picks. Personally, I think Bagley and Ayton are the first two picks.
  25. As a casual fan, I have a lot holes in my knowledge, so I am asking this question: Where does Trae Young rank, compared to the PG's of the past ten drafts? If he ranks in the top three, then, in my eyes, he is worth the 3rd pick.
