  1. Initial reports by DraftExpress regarding a second private workout with Andrew Bynum appear to be right on the money. Multiple sources have confirmed that Portland indeed did workout Bynum on Thursday in their facilities, and that the Trailblazers will be making a move on draft night to trade out of the #3 spot and take Bynum. According to what we’ve heard, the Lakers are out of the picture right now as a new team has emerged with a better offer. That team appears to be the Utah Jazz. A deal that could very well go down on draft night to satisfy both sides would be Portland sending Utah the #3 pick along with Ruben Patterson in return for the #6 pick, Kirk Snyder and Gordan Giricek. The deal works under RealGM.com’s trade checker. With the #3 pick, the Jazz would select Deron Williams, and with #6 Portland would take Andrew Bynum. The Jazz would try to fill their gaping hole on the wing with the #27 pick by selecting Matt Walsh. The problem is that both the Hawks and especially the Bobcats are aware of what’s going and could make a move to sabotage the trade by either taking Deron Williams at #2 or Andrew Bynum at #5. So if this trade goes through, I dont think the Charlotte deal takes place(both their number #1's for the hawks number 1.) Paul would be taken at #4 by New Orleans, leaving atlanta with no shot at the top 2 pg's. And I guess that makes sense since allegedly the Hawks are trying to move into the late first to draft Ukic. It seems to add up....but we will see.
  2. May the force be with you...
  3. I agree. There is no room, for Al, if Marvin is here. So I think that you have to trade Al, before he leaves on his own terms at the end of the year. I think Atlanta is more able to fill holes if Al stays. Atlanta doesnt have to waste time swapping out the same players at the same position if they keep Al. Coming away from this draft with a star quality pg and a quality big man would be real nice in addition to the 3 starters atlanta already has. On the other hand im not opposed to the team drafting marvin either. We will see what happends.
  4. Atlanta has so many options right now. I think they draft Marvin but its a matter of them keeping him or not. Either way, I would like to see a quality big and a starting pg out of this draft.
  5. Marvin Williams creates more of a logjam than Hakim Warrick(if atl keeps al and smoov.) If Warrick is comming of the bench behind Al and Josh Smith I wouldn't exactley call that a log jam. And also Marvin Williams has no defined position, so this tweener label can be put on him as well. I mean this team is interested in players like stromile swift, Warrick is the same type of player. If you are looking for a big at #13 because u took a point guard in the top 5(via charlotte), hes not gonna have all the skills that someone in the top 5 might have. But he is 6'9, can run the floor, can score and would be a nice addition to this team.
  6. The Hawks could go so many diffferent directions. I would hate to think anything is etched in stone at this point. If they do in fact pick up felton, I'd like to see someone like warrick here(with the other pick.) I mean if you want a stromile swift type player, he is it(hes also listed at 6'9 on draft express.) He could be a nice addition off the bench. I just really hope Sean May isnt here. He doesnt fit the long athletic guy the hawks seem to seek. I dont beleive may has what it takes to run and gun on a consistent basis. Its all just specualation and we have no idea what portland or new orleans will do and im sure thats gonna dictate what the hawks do.
  7. KB 21 I'll take that lineup this year and throw in Jack via a trade, using Al. Its very young but boy it would be exciting. I dont know who would need Al or what they would give for him but I gotta think a pick(and maybe a salary dump) would be reasonable. Jarrett Jack Josh Childress Marvin Williams Josh Smith Randolph Morris or would you guys want: Deron Williams Josh Childress Josh Smith Al Harrington Randolph Morris
  8. Doesn't Atlanta have an extra #1 pick next year besides their own? Who's is it and is it lottery protected? Im just wondering because if Atlanta shipped Al Harrington out(in a New Orleans deal) that would create another hole. Use 4 and 7 to get your pg and big man(Frye?) and I think your good to go, with 2 draft picks in the 2nd round and free agency. I dunno if that could happen but that would fix alot of the hawks problems. Seems to good to be true but you never know. Haha.
  9. Yeah the Hawks uniforms are gross....they need to ditch that flying hawk logo and stick with the one thats just the head....The bulls black jerseys are the best ones in my opinion.
  10. Deron Williams (1st rd) Josh Smith Josh Childress Al Harrington Stromile Swift (FA) Randolph Morris (2nd rd) Royal Ivey Donta Smith Boris Diaw Predrag Drobnjak Kevin Willis Jason Collier Tony Delk Player 14 (Extra draft pick acquired on trade down to take deron) another forward?
  11. Man Deron sure did look nice in his workout. I think he is the perfect fit for the Hawks. He can shoot, distribute and play excellent defense. I just dont know how far Atlanta can slide back to pick him up....if the hawks move to #5 its gonna be to late in my opinion. To pair him up with childress, smith and harrington would be unbeleivable. I mean that could be your 4 cornerstones of your franchise...plus you still have multiple draft picks left and free agency. Hope BK can make it happen.
  12. If people think Nate Robinson is gonna be really solid, Will has to be in that same category. Will is gonna have to learn to play some point but at the same time if you put him in the backcourt with a tall pg (ie Diaw) you dont have to worry about matchups cause he will take the smaller guy(most likely the other teams pg).We never got to see him run the point alot at GT because of Jack. Hes a nice ballhandler but we will have to see how he runs a team.
  13. I love Will Bynum. I think he is one of those players that becomes a better pro than college player. With his skills, strength and leaping ability, I think he will have a nice career. Thanks for posting the interview.
  14. Inside, I heard about the lakers deal also. Allegedly, they have been wanting Green for a long time and feel that hes closer than any of his high school peers to play this year. Hopefully that would hold up if the trade went through. Also, if Portland slid back I hear they really like Martell Webster. Its all speculation to this point but I think we can all agree that Atlanta is in a great position if the Bucks take Bogut.
  15. Good Stuff. Looks like if the Bucks take Bogut, than the Hawks would take Marvin. But Portlands pick becomes interesting because if they take Green(even though they might trade out) then that would leave Paul or Williams at #5(where the hawks would pick if they traded with Charlotte.) So the hawks would be in a good situation. Then they wouldnt have to deal with the logjam at forward that chad ford and this board has previously talked about. All the hawks would have to think about is who to take at #13. Andrew Bynum, Fran Vazquez? No matter what trades are made or not made, I fully expect that Atl comes away with a point guard and big man from this draft.
  16. So based on your theory its let me exploit you on one end of the floor, so you can exploit me at the other end of the floor? So are u telling me that you would want to have a player like Tyron Lue running the point who has nice offensive skills but is a liablity on defense. Or would u rather have the oppurtunity to have someone who can light it up as much as Tyron and be one of the best defenders in the league at the same time (Deron Williams). I dont understand your theory of you cause problems for me on one end of the court and I cause problems for you on the other end of the court.
  17. Bottom line is if you draft marvin williams, you have a log jam and someone has to sit or get traded. I dont beleive you get so top heavy at one or 2 positions when you have NOTHING at pg and center. I have no idea what the hawks are gonna do. Hey Im all for finding a way to get Deron, but if we roll with Marvin, which i beleive is most likely, its like a continuous cycle...next year are they gonna draft rudy gay cause he might be the best player in the draft? Oh yeah hes also a SF/PF 18 years old; 6' 9"; 220 lbs. Who is the odd man out then next year? I mean lets start filling some needs and start winning games.
  18. I just don't buy this 3 forward lineup theory Billy Knight talked about yesterday consisting of Marvin, Al and Smith. First of all none of those guys is gonna be able to guard any of these guys on a consistant basis: Richard Hamilton, Michael Redd, Dwayne Wade, and Ben Gordon, etc...And thats just in the east. Second of all, Based on Bk's theory Josh Childress is the odd man out of the starting lineup. I dont think Josh Childress is the player you sit on the bench after the kind of year he had and the money hes making. Seriously, how many forwards/2 guards are the hawks gonna take without letting someone go and not filling other positions. I think Marvin Williams being here is gonna mean the end of Al Harrington as an Atlanta Hawk. Whether its the Hawks Decision (draft trade or mid season trade) or Al's decision (not resigning at the end of the year.) I have a hard time thinking that the Hawks would give Al Harrington a ton of money (in the prime of his career) at the end of the year when they potentially would give alot to Marvin (who plays the same position.) And i'm sure Al wouldnt tolerate being a bench player either, once they find out the "3 headed monster" (forward lineup) will not be able to keep up on the defensive end against smaller/quicker lineups. Anyway, if we do roll with Marvin I would like to see it go like this.... *Jarrett Jack Josh Childress Josh Smith Marvin Williams (Insert Center Here) Kwame, Birdman, Swift, Randolph Morris etc... (* obtain him by trading Al's talents and expiring contract) I know that lineup is young but SIGN ME UP FOR TICKETS. I don't think that lineup is too unrealistic.
  19. If the Hawks take the alleged "BEAST" than I think we should find a way to bring in Jarrett Jack. Even though I like Al, if Marvin is here, like it or not, Marvin has to play(I dont beleive ATL has time for a "Darko ride the bench situation.") Atlanta can package Al to slide in to the middle of the first and take Jack, which is realistic because of Al's talent and expiring contract. I would love for us to keep the #31st pick and take Morris from Kentucky. So if we can somehow come away with Marvin Williams, Jack, and Morris that would be great. Even though Al didnt do anything wrong in my eyes to be traded...it just turns out to be a numbers game with the possible addition of Marvin. I just cant see them both being here, with atlanta having to fill so many needs.
  20. I agree Jez about picking up Morris. Hopefully he can do as well as Nazi and Jamal have done, comming from Kentucky. In my opinion, it might be to early for Morris to start but he could really help the Hawks off the bench. You never know though, he could get catch some of whatever Dwight Howard is on (compliment) or we could bomb on big men in free agency and he would be forced to start. If the hawks come away with Deron Williams and Randolph Morris(if he stays in) I would be really excited. I love the possibility of having this group of exciting young athletes with local ties (ie. Josh Smith, Randolph Morris and Al Harrington who almost went to Ga Tech.)
  21. I am all for taking Deron. I know we could take Marvin and figure out some trade but with the Hawks luck in the past...Someone will take Deron before us(if the Hawks indeed move back.) Its almost like going to a store and finding a shirt you love. But you dont want to buy it till it goes on sale. And the next time you go back to the store, the shirt is gone and you are kicking yourself that you didnt purchase it in the first place. It almost seems like the Bucks will take Bogut. If Marvin falls to us, Im sure hes going to be a very nice player, but we already have a solid forward in Al Harrington. I mean Al did alot of nice things this past year and it seems likes hes just enterting his prime being in his mid 20's. I mean this starting lineup looks nice but incomplete, because I have no idea who they will add at Center. Deron Willians PG Josh Childress SG Josh Smith SF Al Harrington PF Plus the Hawks have the top pick in round 2 (someone always falls that was thought to go in round 1) or maybe they purchase a 1st rounder or make a trade to move to the back of the first round. And if we dont fill the need of PF and/or Center through the draft, their is always free agency. I feel good about the possibilities but reality is another thing :x
  22. Will Bynum SG/PG Georgia Tech Instant offense off the bench in the NBA. Hopefully to the Hawks at the end of round 2.
  23. Hi guys im new...Yeti your "nutcracker" comments are awesome. Anyway, I would also like to see Deron here. He strikes me as someone who can shoot from the outside and will be able to backdown alot of the point guards in the league and on top of that hes a great defender. Not to mention, a great distributor of the ball. I saw Paul alot and even though hes a solid player, I never was sold on him. Living in Atlanta, I got to see him matched up with Jack from Ga.Tech. And Jack was head and shoulders the better player on multiple occasions. And honestly will Chris Paul this year be light years ahead of where Tyrone Lue (even though he might not be here) is at this point. To me they are basically the same type of player (even though Paul hasnt played an nba game.) Same size, both can score, they show alot of heart and both will be/are liabilitys on defense against bigger guards. Im not saying that Deron is a better guard than tyrone lue is at this point, but he brings something that you cant teach and thats size along with his offensive and defensive skills he already has. This is the order I like in terms of those 4 guards 1. Williams 2. Jack 3. Felton 4. Paul
