  1. Didn't he leave Kentucky and didnt even tell the coaches he was going pro, then he went back to school after he knew that his draft stock wasnt going to be that high? Like you said hes not costing alot. Might as well see what happends.
  2. I can't help but notice the length and the money they are not giving out. These guys are really bargain shopping right about now. They are gonna have to put some money down to be competitive. I dont even know if Morris can take Solomon's minutes. At the very least he can be a foul machine :P
  3. So who will you support if Smith leaves? Will you watch basketball anymore?
  4. I'm sure they are trying to ship Odom out as opposed to Gasol. I agree that Gasol next to Horford would be nice. I can't get excited about Odom.
  5. I'm not clear on the financial details, but would Claxton need to be added to a Smith for Prince/Johnson deal to work? Here's another question. If the Hawks dont give into the demands of Josh Smith....Would you rather have Smith for 1 year or Prince and Amir (and possibly Speedy off the books) for the next 2 to 3 years?
  6. If that is the deal on the table, I take that it too Dolfan. We've seen what Prince is and 13/5/3 is not bad and I think his production would go up here because clearly Det had/has more options (on the court) then we do. Smith has time to be twice the player Prince is but he's not right now and who knows if he ever will be. The real wild card (question mark) would be Amir. I've seen Det fans and management rave over this raw/talented prospect but do we have the coaching to further continue his development? I think the clincher is getting rid of Speedy's contract if that is apart of the deal. He's been hurt, but the main reason I would let him go is there just isn't anymore room + the contract. Would I be surprised if he did good things in DET? No way. Thats why I think the deal could work for everyone.
  7. Quote: I don't know about anyone else but to me it's pretty clear we need to sign this guy. He had another solid game last night shooting the ball and appears to be healthy. We badly need another shooter on this team that can stroke the 3 and we can sign this guy for peanuts. Get something done ASG! Do something right. Damn it! Hes not the best defender, but you get a guy with size, who can stroke it and dish it for the cheap. I think that he should have been on this team reguardless if Chillz was resigned, but now I definately think he should be here (and again I don't think hes gonna cost much).
  8. Quote: Make it 11 mil/yr and call it a day.lol I agree. If those are indeed the numbers.
  9. Quote: what the hell is that emoticon doing? HAHAHA
  10. Quote: Smoove and Speedy for Kaman/1st. Hear this out. The Camby pickup doesn't make sense unless LAC is going to do another move. ASG would like to have Kaman because he's good and his salary is relatively low. Clipps don't have 15 million under the cap but they still have enough under there to take on Speedy and help SMoove's BYC. I was reading a blog that suggested that Clipps and ASG were discussing players who Atlanta would except in trade for Smoove. Here's an excerpt: Quote: Haven't your heard. After EB bailed on the Clippers the only player they met with was Josh. They didn't make him an offer that Atlanta would then simply match. Instead they made a trade offer for Zach Randolph and Marcus Camby in an attempt to bring in a player that could be used as trade bait in a sign and trade deal with Atlanta for Josh. It was all pre-arranged in that original meeting. Next up, Josh Smith's trade demand to the Clippers. Interesting scenario. If they get Randolph, then Camby would have to slide to Center and where does that leave Kaman....hmm. Under this scenario they would have Smith playing SF(where does Thornton go?). Another part that I have a question on is the 'bring in a player that can be used as trade bait'. Is that David Lee and/or Wilson Chandler? Hmm....

Bibby Johnson Prince Horford Bierdens Law/Claxton Richardson/Jackson Childress Solo/Johnson Golden State just signed Maggette and already has Wright and Harrington who all play basically the same position as Marvin. I doubt the have any interest in him. Zaza That would be a REAL nice team. Thing about Golden State is they interchange their players at different positions. Like they will have Wright play the 4 or the 5 and even AL playing the 3 or the 4 (if hes even around this year). Just depends on matchups. Why would they give up Biedrins (their starting C) to fill a position they already have filled with a player who is better than Marvin ? They just lost Azubuike, Pietrus who can both play the 2 or the 3 and Matt Barnes isnt even resigned (yet) and al harrington (forward/center via nba.com) may not be on the team next year, even if he is, he can play the 4 and the 5 for them. Yeah they signed Maggette, but do you not think you wont see Ellis and Maggette in the same back court next year in different scenarios? Ellis isn't a PG, which is why they are still looking for one. Maggette could play SG, but he's really a SF. Not to mention they still have Stephen Jackson. On top of that, they drafted another SF. They've got Brandon Wright and Al Harrington to play PF. I also think they drafted another PF. Also, chances are they will resign Matt Barnes. So tell me, why would they trade their only rebounder and their best big for Marvin Williams again ? You arent listening. The players they have play multiple positions. Trying to pigeon whole the players into 1 position is ludacris. Matt Barnes is not signed as of yet so you cant count on him returning, especially if they find a better option. Croeshere gone, Azubeuke gone, Pietrus gone. Brandon Wright also plays center, I dont know if you noticed that when they came to Atlanta last year when Bierdens was hurt. And Ellis will be bringing the ball up the floor quite a bit, I dont care if hes labeled a PG or not. Randolph is a rookie and with his size he could play any of number of positions up front(if hes even ready), especially if they play 'small ball'. Not saying the trade happends, but to say Marvin doesnt make any sense there is not true. Ok. So maybe the trade never happens. The point I'm really trying to make is they have several players to play the two positions Marvin could fill on a roster. Here is the depth chart for their frontcourt: SF: Maggette/Jackson/Randolph PF: Harrington/Wright/Hendrix C: Biedrins/Harrington/Perovic Considering the fact that Maggette and Jackson are both better small forwards, the only other place for Marvin is PF, right ? Well, actually no. Harrington is a better PF than Marvin, and while Wright hasn't proven much, It's a safe assumption that Wright is the better fit at the PF. So unless you think Golden State would play Marvin at C or SG, I don't see how (outside the fact that I don't think they would trade Biedrins) a Marvin for Biedrins trade would work. Heres the deal. If the trade for Marvin went down, Bierdens wouldnt be on that roster and you have Harrington down 2 times so thats 7 players left for 3 positions because your dismissing the shooting guard spot which Mag or Jackson could/will play. Who knows if they can even get a pg thats decent enough to play with Ellis. Therefore if I am GS I think im putting Mags in the backcourt with Ellis and that gives me a pretty darn good backcourt. Al was still the better forward at the time in Atlanta but that didnt stop us from letting him move on and to be honest I dont think Marvin would take a backseat to randolph or hendrix. Jackson is also 30 and doesnt have that much left on his deal so if they would re-up Marvin, Jackson would be on the way out. Alot of what ifs. Not saying any trade will happen just saying it can make sense. Jackson would still start over Marvin Williams, because right now Stephen Jackson is the better player. So, whatever position Marvin plays, he'd still be on the bench. Maybe...maybe not. Depends on his progression over the summer and him fitting into the high octane offensive system of GS. If he did sit, it wouldnt be for long(not for the money they would have to pay to re-up him). Anyhow, somehow someway I would like to have Bierdens here.

  14. Quote: That's a good question as well. Although, I like Childress regardless of who else is on the team. I agree. I think hes found his niche being a 6th man.

  17. Have Det add a #1 and I would do that for Amir and Prince. Then I would ship Marvin off for Bierdens (via sign and trade). Bibby Johnson Prince Horford Bierdens Law/Claxton Richardson/Jackson Childress Solo/Johnson Zaza That would be a REAL nice team.
  18. Quote: Quote: Bucher of course, said that Kobe wasn't going to put on a Lakers jersey ever again so I'll take what he says with a whole salt-shaker Winning and Money will fix alot of things. Doesnt matter of its Kobe or Josh Smith. Clearly management didnt think this was much of a problem when they brought back woody. So its either their bad or the story isnt true. We will see.
  19. Quote: Why is Solomon Jones not on the team? Good question. He seemed to regress last year in summer league. He would get a foul every 30 seconds. Maybe they are trying to protect him form that again. That is the wrong approach if you ask me. I guess they figure Solo has a guaranteed spot on the roster and they need to find a CHEAP $400 K big. So without Solo these guys get more playing time for evaluation. I hope that was the Hawks decision for him not to play and not his. With so many players competing for a spot through the SL and maybe a signing or two through Free Agency you just never know if you have a spot, especially on that end of the bench. Jackson is a shooter that you get on the cheap at the very least if their is not anyone left to sign. We need some beef underneath at the 5 but Im not real sure where that will come from. I guess Butch from Wisconsin didnt make it for one reason or another (from the peliminary list that Sekou posted).
  20. Can we figure out something involving Marvin for Bierdens? You want to talk about running, scoring, boarding and blocking shots, that front line is it. I know some folks arent high on Bierdens, but I think he would complement AL and Smith.
  21. Quote: Take it this way- If you have to win a game RIGHT NOW, and have to choose, do you put in Smoove or Big Al? Case closed. (Its obvious, right? ) Heck someone could say f yall, I want Speedy Claxton. You may think hes insane but its all relative on whats considered obvious.
  22. Interesting developments.... Davis officially became a member of the Clippers on Wednesday when he signed a five year, $65 million pact. - How does Baron feel now that Elton is gone? Does he force the Clippers hand? The money they offer Josh could not just be for Josh but it also may be for Barons happiness. Hes not gonna be happy if he has little to play with. - The Los Angeles Clippers today renounced their rights to free agents Dan Dickau, Shaun Livingston, Boniface Ndong, Smush Parker and James Singleton. Per the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, a renounced player no longer counts toward team salary, so teams use renouncement to gain additional cap room. 1 of 2 things seems likely. We are gonna pay out the yang because LA can throw alot of money at Josh (how can they not go out with guns a blazing with Baron just signed) or we can do a SNT (again forcing LA's hand to find someone to play with Baron). Either way they are gonna have to anti up whether its through money, sign and trade on any player (Okafor or Smith). http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/534...ce_elton_brand/
  23. If you are drafted that high, you cant not have high expectations. Will he cash in on those expectations? I dont know. This year is going to tell alot and to tell you the truth I dont know which way its gonna go. He puts up an decent stat line but his game still leaves alot to be desired for someone who was picked so high. To me, hes the biggest question mark on this team that matters (sorry speedy). I browsed the list of FAs next year and I dont see many good 5's that will be available (no surprise there, quality bigs are at a premium and we sure as heck cant compete salary wise with other teams for the top tier guys). If Marvin can fetch us someone thats on the up and up like Bierdens.... would u do that via SNT if the numbers matched up?
  24. Quote: Quote: Thing that worries me too are the teams behind us that have gotten better like the bulls and heat. How did the bulls get better? Having D Rose on your team makes you better then not having him. Del Negro probably cant do much worse then Boylan. Thats what I meant by that.
  25. Quote: Are they out of our league, i remember when we were considered better than the sixers, but since their acquisition are they better than us? Also how would you rank the eastern confrence? Just curious.... 1 Boston 2 Detroit 3 Orlando 4 Philly? 5 Cavs 6 Wizards/Raptors 8 Hawks Thing that worries me too are the teams behind us that have gotten better like the bulls and heat. We wont be as fortunate this year to make the playoffs if we are not better then last. What yall think?
