  1. I suggested someone like Craig Smith in my thread. And even someone at the least like a Mad dog Madsen to bring tougness and attitude off the bench. Zaza is way too soft. Im still want Kareem Rush on this team too. We need someone who can shoot the 3 and play the 2 with size (to play next to lue and law).
  2. * If we had any sort of half court offense, we would easily be over 500. The Hawks cant survive on talent alone. * Watching the Lakers play offense is kinda nice. They consistently drove the lane last night and kicked out out to the 3 point line. I guess we arent able to do those kinda things if we only have one decent shooter(who is our best player) that can consistently knock 3 point shots down. *Bonehead play by the lakers guard last night going for 2 instead of 3 in the posession before the fisher heave. Kobe was visibly upset pointing to his head telling him hes got to think. *Zaza has just regressed so much. When he catchs the ball in the post he hesitates (GO STRAIGHT UP). We still could use a vet big that works hard off the bench. *I know their are some people here that dont care for Gasol. But what he showed early on is he is someone we could have used. His passing skills and the ability to strech the floor is something we dont have out of the 5. The 2nd half he didnt do as well (kudos to Horford). For someone who doesnt know the offense and is playing for the 2nd consecutive night, He did alright *HEY PHILLIPS ARENA why dont u please change the light bulbs that show the players pics and stats on both sides of the arena. If your gonna post pics/stats in the arena, it would help if we could see them. *I saw some of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen. Thank you Cnn Center, Phillips Arena and the Lakers. The Hawks alone dont bring out that kinda talent. *I still feel we need to make a trade. I dont know if you mess with the core players but know that you probably arent gonna get any game changers without dealing one. So in that case why not get deal someone like Shelden, Zaza and Salim. ANYONE UP FOR A Shelden and Salim trade to minny for Craig Smith and Mark Madsen(works in trade checker)? Then find a way to get Kareem Rush from Indiana?
  3. Quote: Why not just swap Salim for Kareem? Instead of adding in alot of other players to the deal. I agree 100 percent. Just do a Salim for Kareem straight up.
  4. Man how envious were some of yall about Kareem Rush's play the other night? We've kind put a band-aid our problems with a bigman and pg thus far(hope it can last), but like some of us have said we are missing a 2 guard, with size that can really shoot the rock off the bench. Rush doesnt turn the ball over at all and he has really started to come on in the last 3 games with double digit outings. His contract expires this year and I figure we can ship lue or maybe even salim at this point. Its not a huge upgrade on paper but I think it will make a huge difference if you play joe and him on the floor (one playing SF of course) and kicking it out to Kareem when teams double Joe.
  5. Quote: I think Sothron may have decided to stop posting here due to the bashing he regularly takes. That's no fun
  6. I remember hearing about interest in the past, but I was wondering if you heard anything lately. Dunno if these rumors are false or true that Jack is available. I know we have a log jam at point, but its time to cut some of the dead weight. Heard anything?
  7. Jack and Frye for Chillz I would do. A Jack and Law pg rotation would be sick. Frye could give Al some time off at the 5. Love Chill but these 2 would be very helpful Maybe send zaza and lue or johnson somewhere for a backup shooting guard with size.
  8. They way our team looks now...I would say 50 percent. This team has been treading water and will continue to do so until some sort of change is made (whether it be a coach or a player move).
  9. Quote: I would add highly skilled to that list as well. Horford and Gasol underneath would be beautiful. The up-side of Smoove is waining with me a bit and he will likely want more money then he is worth come summer. $13 million for Gasol or $10-$11 million for Smoove starting next year ? Lets get a winning team already and forget the contract drama this summer ! Amen. Lets shift the talent on this team a little bit. What we have in wing players, we lack in the 5 and the 1 (hopefully Law can fill that need).
  10. Hes a career 8.5 rebounds a night guy. If this guy was the total package, the Grizzlies wouldnt trade him. And one other thing, if hes good enough for the bulls (hypothetically) hes good enough for us. The skills that he has is what we need. Just a matter of how much it would take.
  11. I think its insane to lay any money on the hawks against teams like the sixers. You never know what you are gonna get out of both teams. I am encouraged by the team meeting but we will see how that translates. Hopefully we get Acie back tonight, but I dont know how much we can expect out of him once he does get back on the court.
  12. I would like to read it too. Im glad we have some guys here that can give insight into the locker room, front office and the court. As far as the radio and tv, I dont really hear any up to the minute hawks news unless its like an hour before tipoff. I guess if we were winning and football season ends we would get more coverage.
  13. Quote: The gates open up an hour before the game, so if you want to get to shootaround then that would be the time. They probably shoot for about 15 minutes, then sign autographs, and then go back to the locker room. They don't come back until maybe 15 minutes before tip-off. Where to eat? Well I am always partial to going up to Headline's Bar & Grill in Philips. Its a great place to grab a beer, and their food isn't bad either. Plus, you can watch the game from the lower level(upper part of it) while you eat, the only problem is it is behind a basket but if you don't mind it then its great. Outside of Philips you have the CNN center which has just about any fast food place you can think of and a Jocks&Jills. So you have plenty of options to eat which is right around the place. As far as security, the only thing I have ever had taken away from me was food/drink and a cowbell (they used to give them out at the games for "Fanatical Fans"). Just so long as your camera doesn't look professional they won't care. There is plenty of Parking around Philips and I doubt you would have trouble finding a place. They usually range from around $5 to $20 depending on how far you want to walk. I love going through Centinneal Olympic Park so I usually park a little farther down just to walk through the Park. Hope this helps and enjoy the game! Thank You All for your input.
  14. I havn't been to a basketball game in years. Anyone have any tips on going down to Phillips? Ie. How early should I get there for shootaround, whats a good place to eat etc.... I read on the site about cameras(how they are allowed but not proffesional rigs). Anyone ever have a problem with not being able to get in because of one? Thanks DC
  15. Quote: Quote: And amazingly after I posted that we heard about in the national media Gasol wanting out, You must have heard Late... Hawk25 was talking about Gasol back in April. Moreover... All year long last year, there were rumors that Gasol wanted to go to Chicago (out of Memphis) Morevoer, when did we (HS) start talking about trading #3 for Gasol... Well before you did... Notice what Dragitoff says... Quote: Gasol is a proven player though. Yi is one of those unknown commodities. He might be the next Dirk or he might be the next flop. You never know. If the choice was between Gasol or Yi, I'm afraid I'd have to go with Gasol despite the age difference (of course many people think Yi is actually older than advertised). This team can't afford to "take chances" on players who might develop into someone useful. If we could get Gasol for the #3 pick and even another player, I'd do it in a heartbeat of course depending on who the other player is. If it's an even swap, then definitely do it, but I think we'd have to include someone else to make the salaries work under the CBA. Gasol wants to play for a playoff team, and I definitely think we'd have that here if we got him. Use the #11 pick to draft the best PG left on the board at that time. Late Ron... You're late! Nanny nanny Boo boo, stick your head in doo doo? Jesus Christ yall.
  16. I know I've been on the same page with you in reguards to the team's on the court issues. To me, I cant even be mad at what Josh Smith has been doing these past few nights, because its the same thing hes been doing for awhile. Its almost like im immune to it now. Its the hawks fault for letting it continue to happen. You make your own bed so you have to sleep in it. I think my wanting the hawks to make a trade has less to do with Josh Smith as it has to do with me just wanting the hawks to get some solid production out of the 5 and 1(i know acie is hurt so the jury is still out). I know Josh would thrive on a team that has a pg and an offense that is more wide open. I know thats a shame but its the truth. In your mind are both Joshs and a claxton contract enough to get gasol? Do you think that Atl will reduce its demands on a Bierdens deal? I dunno exactly what the exact answer is but I know we have no floor general and no consistent veteran go to guy to pair up with Joe. Until, we get those things we will continue to spin our wheels.
  17. Quote: I am done with Smoove. He is what he is. Takes ya to the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Thing is hes cheating himself out of all the work he did over the summer. Bailing teams out with his jump shooting.
  18. I agree. This team is also in need of a second option (besides joe) who can create his own shot. We dont have him on this team yet.
  19. Quote: Quote: yeah I'm just saying, these are the guys that bash Josh, Horford, etc. when they're struggling, but when they play well, their no where to be seen. I said earlier that Smoove played excellent in the 1st quarter, but since than he has been god awful. The story of his career. No consistency.
  20. Quote: Same ole crap with Josh Smith. Trying to force what's not there and taking wild shots instead of passing off. This needs to change! Dunk the damn ball when you go to the hoop. Going soft to the cup with a layup is not gonna cut it.
  21. Quote: There is no one that could rationally try to sell that game as anything but horrible for Smoove. He made one block, I'll definitely give him credit for that, but that one play does not make up for the rest of the game. He made a great block after he screwed off that jump shot at the end (basically covering his own butt). Joe Johnson is the reason the hawks won tonight...pretty much like always. Im anxious to get Acie back. Im also interested when/if they are gonna give him the green light to start filling up the basket a little bit more.
  22. Quote: it really has nothing to do with individual games or a string of bad games. It's that people who follow the team are starting to come to the realization that Josh Smith is going to be out of position, in one way or another, regardless of what position he plays. His attitude and anti-team antics on the court aren't helping either. Amen to that. I compare Smith to Vick in the fact that hes got a million dollar body and a 10 cent head. I hope he gets it together for the good of the team but if he doesn't we wont be watching him play here next year. Someone will pay him a good amount of money this summer because NBA contracts are just ridiculous anyway.
  23. Im getting to that point to where its really frustrating to watch him too. Almost like watching Vick for the falcons, got all the talent in the world but he still made the same mistakes game after game and year after year. Soth it might be tough sleading to find someone thats not in a contract year and someone that is somewhat recognizable. I dont know how likely it would be to put together a 'big' deal this early in the season. I think the thing that validates all this talk is the fact that Joe came out and said he needs help. He didnt name any names but the hawks are in a position where the way they are playing now they arent gonna make the playoffs. And they have no first rounder next year.
  24. I know we have had injuries but the hawks are going to continue to tread water unless they make a move. Zaza is giving us nothing from the 5 hole. Soth do you get the feeling that the hawks want to make some sort of change to shake things up? I think the hawks are smart to keep tabs on gasol and bierdens cause clearly they know what alot of us know right now. ATL needs to get more help/production out of the 5.
