It pains me to say because meth makes me smile on the court.... wait, that makes me sound like an addict.  Ah well, it's out there now.

we all refer to you as a "user".... the above has become an offensive term.

And it's ok cagey, we love you no matter how bad a user you are.

Teams see Hayward as a buyout target. He could be had for little to nothing but it's unlikely as teams are low balling CHA.

@Sothron aren't you glad we didn't get McRib? Bogi is more productive and on a much better contract. Has more trade value. What a blessing.

There is zero reason for scouts for teams with picks in the middle to late parts of the first round to mail it in just because there is no Tim Duncan in a given draft class.

I completely agree. Travis never mailed it in regardless of the draft class. He was outstanding at finding mid first round gems.

But do you remember Danny Ferry's drafting? I think he was using those European scouting trips as vacations. Every single pick he made, immediate sad face upon the announcement..... otherwise he was great at making trades and good with contracts.

AJ is definitely not better than Grimes.

hard disagree. You've just got your Sally Jesse Rafael glasses on and you've forgotten how good AJ is.

If he gets traded, you will see it and be sad.

I don't understand just throwing away AJ instead of sending him to the GL to at least rehab some of his value.

I don't either. And if this has to do with Quinn's relationship with him, this is my first real strike against Quinn.

But in a draft class where there isn't a clear top player there is opportunity for the scout to be the person who discovers and champions the best player in the entire draft class.

this is exactly what I'm sayin!! Be the one that stays on your toes while some of the other jackasses are mailing it in because there's no Tim Duncan/LeBron, and it will pay dividends. Now I'm confused if we're arguing or dancing??? 🤔

  8. That makes no sense. DJ and AJ are miles better than each of them no matter how you compare any of them. DJ better than both of them and AJ better than both of them. Even 2 unprotected firsts with that package is absolute dog sh!t.

You’d have to show me the data to show this before I’d buy into it.  These guys are professionals who advance their careers by unearthing gems that others missed.  I don’t see why they would take a year off from that just because there is no LeBron or Shaq.  We know the draft is a bit of a crap shoot so I get there will be people missed and variability and all that.  I’m just super skeptical that you are more likely to find a Giannis or Nash or Jimmy, etc. if there isn’t a consensus pick at the top.  (As an aside, you can have super strong drafts without a consensus #1 like the Kandi man draft.)

no data.... this is similar to the idea of "playing down to your competition"...

As a Hawks fan, I know damn well you're familiar with that.

or deciding not to study for an exam because you know it's not worth much of your final grade. Just human behaviors...

Why would you be any more or less likely to find an underrated star later in the draft in a draft class without a clear #1 versus a draft with a clear #1 pick?  I don’t understand the correlation there if any.

People can get less excited if there's no hype for a given draft. And people don't do their homework as hard if they're not excited. GMs are humans -- their work ethic is influenced by potential benefit and if they don't see the stars because the media is saying that, then why put in the same amount of work?

I will say this, historically speaking, “Weak Drafts” are typically the drafts you find superstars in the late lottery and 2nd round.

Weak drafts are weak because there isn’t an easy choice at the top. There isn’t a Lebron, Wemby or Zion type of hype on a guy. But in those drafts, if you do your scouting correctly, that’s when you find your Giannis’ at 13, Jokic’s in round 2, Draymonds, DJMs, McCollums, Millsaps, etc….

There is always talent to be had, it’s just not obvious in a weak draft class. Somebody has to get drafted early, and those guys are typically overrated. And someone has to get drafted later, and those players are severely underrated in years like this.

    Fantastic post

  12. if the reports are true that we're getting lowball offers for DJ, I'd rather keep him and revisit this in the offseason.

We should have traded CC either of the last 2 seasons, while he had value.... at this point we'd be lucky to get a 2nd. Still should move him.

Otherwise focus should be on moving Bey, 12 and Bogi.

Bogi is the one of these I like as a piece for the next few years. But he's also the one out of these that can return decent value.
