  1. Sure sounds like it from his profile... He gets off as many shots as Morrison does per minute but yet only gets to the line less than half the # of attempts Morrison does... I just think this town would go bonkers over Morrison... Probably just my opinion though... Will have to watch a Memphis game to get a better opinion...
  2. As I mentioned on another thread, he'll be on ESPN2 Tuesday night (02/14/06)... His stats are nothing to write home about, but commentators speak glowingly about him so I'm anxious to see what he's all about... One of those type of players where his boxscore doesn't tell the whole story about his game...
  3. Temple will be on ESPN2 tomorrow night (7:30) vs St Johns if anyone wants to take a look at this guy (Mardy Collins)...
  4. I tivo'd all the games to get a look at each of these players... Thomas was very disappointing (foul trouble whole game)... Did not play very smart... Will have to watch another game to get a better judge of his game... Rondo played a little better than the last time I saw him... But I still don't see what everybody sees in him... He hasn't wow'ed me yet... Morrison I think everyone agrees had a great game last night... His ability to drive to the basket and get shots off in traffic are great... Ability to hit big shots at critical times... He's definitely the best I've seen so far this year at the college level... He doesn't mind mixin' it up either... As I mentioned in an earlier post, he just seems to have IT... I still think the Hawks will trade down and get Temple's Mardy Collins... A PG with wingspan, Woody WON'T be able to resist... http://nbadraft.net/profiles/mardycollins.asp
  5. I'd love to see Adam Morrison as a Hawk... He's got IT . No doubt... But... I think the Hawks will trade down and take Mardy Collins of Temple... I think Woody squirts over this guy... Fits Woody's profile of a player to a "T". 6-6 PG http://nbadraft.net/profiles/mardycollins.asp As of now, they're predicting him to go 12ish...
  6. If we do get someone for Al, then you go through the transition period with the new player. As seen at the beginning of this year with JJ, 15-17 games it took... Now it wouldn't take that many at this point in the season with one player. To begin the season, it was the whole team gettin' to know each other and their respective roles. Therefore, that's why I voted for the least # of wins option.
  7. I too have only watched a few Kentucky games just to get a look at Rondo and I can't say that I'm all that impressed. Don't know where the hype is. Guess I have to give the benefit of the doubt due to the lack of games I have seen... Like last night, saw him come down the floor and chunk up a wide open 3, CLANK. Not very smart comin' out of a timeout (as the commentators spoke to)... Got Tubby's eyes bulging out with that staredown.. lol
  8. Beware of the rabbit! Donnie: [taking a cigarette] What will happen if you tell mom about this? Samantha Darko: You'll put Ariel in the garbage disposal. Donnie: GD right I will. [before a dance performance] Kitty Farmer: Okay, now girls... I want you to concentrate. Failure is not an option. And Bethany, if you feel the need to vomit up there... just swallow it. That dam airline better not f*** us on the shingle match. Kitty Farmer: [Tearfully to Rose Darko] Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion.
  9. Detroit 33 FTA Atlanta 14 FTA Resulting in SIXTEEN more points for Detroit! Who was the home team again?!? Zaza getting mugged on one end of the floor then comes back on the defensive side and gets called for a ticky tack foul... I would have gone ballistic as well and got a technical as Zaza rightfully did... Josh Smith being the last one to touch the ball on the Hamilton miss? WTF?!?!? Now we did get a break on the Childress shove of Billups on the fast break (no foul called)... And the biggest of all, was the lack of a technical foul called on Childress when he clearly made contact with the ball as Prince stuck it out on the last out of bounds play... Props to the Hawks for pullin' it out...
  10. Quote: where has john edwards been anyhow? He hasn't been at the games, not listed as injured, and I don't believe we've cut him. Anyone know? John Edwards is hurt... He was in street clothes last night... Nothing serious I think (back)...
  11. Quote: Bruising power forward who can play as an undersized center when neccessary. Legitimate veteran center. Promising young center. Legitimate veteran point guard. Promising young point guard. One of those and as close to "equal value" or higher as you can get. 80% agree (wouldn't want a veteran PG) Agree mostly with the first 3 options.
  12. I'm starting to agree with Sekou Smith... At first, I did want to resign Harrington but now, with the glimpses of Marvin we've been seein' lately, you've gotta trade Al... We have a surplus at SF and a deficiency at C... A simple surplus/need trade is in order... Now, it's more likely we don't get an above average center since they're few and far between, but probably a beefy PF that's a Center tweener...
  13. Nice idea.... But the trade states it has to be Atlanta's OWN pick... Therefore not one that the Hawks have received from another team... "The Suns will receive Atlanta's own first round pick no later than the 2008 NBA Draft. That pick which is "lottery" protected (1-14) in 2006, has protection through No. 3 in 2007 and has no protection in 2008." So it's a pretty safe bet they'll get it in 2008.
  14. Positives: Josh Smith drove to the basket more. With him being a good FT shooter and the fact that he skys above everyone else when he gets near the rim, I SOOOO wish he'd do this more often. He definitely got in a groove there in the first half... Negatives: Salim. Didn't answer the call when we needed him with Lue down. Seems the team as a whole just deflated when he came in. Maybe they feel he's only lookin' for his shot. Also, could not defend the weakside corner 3 pt shot. Toronto would overload one side then kick it around the perimeter to the opposite corner and open 3 pointers galore. Derrick Martin stepped up big for Toronto towards the end draining these corner 3s along with Peterson. Would like to have seen an adjustment but Toronto kept going back to that play with regularity since Woody didn't adjust and they kept draining them. To be in somewhat control the whole game and to finish like that was very disheartening.
  15. I honestly think it has to do more with the team being more dedicated to rebounding and better distributing. JChill is flying to the boards(5 OREB's last night and 11 total rebounds vs. the Spurs) now in ZaZa fashion. Sometimes I don't know how to interpret Salim's facial expressions (or the lack thereof). I remember in an interview they mentioned he's as competitive as they come but he will always show his poker face 100% of the time regardless if the team is winning by 20 or losing by 20. I guess it gets interpreted as sulking but hope it's not the case.
  16. Adam Morrison... I'm curious if he'll be able to defend in the NBA... He'll probably be another Kyle Korver... NBAdraft.net says, "has the legs of a 40 year old..." lol Everytime I see him though, he's giving a 110%... Unfortunately, doesn't fill a need for the Hawks other than that he's a hard worker which we need more of...
  17. Well, another "W" with some strong rebounding... That's the key for this team... But exodus, I thought a Babcock was running the Raptors organization... So anything is possible..
  18. 2007 2nd rounder to Raptors for Pape Sow? Gives us a rebounder/big body (6-10 250) we desperately need. Leading NBDL in rebounds (both offensive/defensive). But I guess it wouldn't matter... Woody would want four 6-9 guys out there standing around the perimeter with Zaza fending for himself on the boards... Therefore we'd continue to get outrebounded game after game... 37-29 Utah outrebound us 39-33 Denver 43-45 Phoenix 37-35 Toronto 41-37 Miami 46-38 Houston 38-42 Portland 45-56 Indiana (imagine that, we outrebounded and won) 25-38 Boston (ditto) 43-41 New Orleans Too many times with the lack of offense playsets, we have 4 guys sitting on the perimeter with one of them going one one one, only to settle for a fadeaway jumpshot. Tired of it... Have at least two guys in there thats gonna crash the boards... Right now, only Zaza is making that effort... In addition to Zaza, put Batman in there... He seems to have a nose for the ball... With the addition of another big body, we'd be able to have more depth to allow two big guys to be in there at the same time... Marvin has shown some willingness to get in there and rebound as well a lot moreso than JChill... Interesting sidenote stat: Ivey : 96 minutes played : 4 steals Lue : 359 minutes played : 3 steals Ivey/JJ/Harrington/Batman/Zaza with stretches of JJ/Salim as well

    Stat question

When a player gets fouled in the act of shooting, does it always count as a field goal attempt (FGA)? Or only if he makes it? Sorry admin. if in wrong forum...
  20. Well he sure as heck ain't an offensive minded coach... I'm gettin' tired of seein' people STAND AROUND on offense... Only creativity Woody shows is his "after timeout play" with Josh Smith gettin' a weak side screen backdoor alley-oop play... Our players are not gettin' enough open shots to be successful... Too much creatin' on their own... Part to blame is the lack of a PG that gets everyone involved... When you have a Nash or a Kidd out there, you know they're lookin' to get you the ball and you're gonna work to get open (in other words, MOVE)... That's why I enjoy watchin' Phoenix play and why Diaw has been successful there... Everyone passes and plays good team ball... In our current offense, players have given up working/moving because they know certain individuals will not pass them the ball once they receive it. Countless times I have seen ZaZa open on a pick and roll with a clear lane to the basket only to get rewarded with NaDa. Everybody sits on the perimeter waitin' for the person with the ball to create somethin' on their own, usually leavin' ZaZa as the only one goin' for rebounds (hence his high offensive rebound totals)... That's why I continue to push for Dana Carvey or Batista to get in there as our PF... At least they can set decent picks and help on the boards... Vent complete...
  21. Not the first time Ivey has played well, only to be rewarded by sitting the pine... What kind of message is Woody tryin' to send?
  22. I'm glad to see he got the start... I wish he'd get more minutes... I just think we need more beef downlow... He just shows that desire that the international players tend to show.. That hustle & grit... Givin' their all... Probably just for one game, but hopefully he'll continue to earn minutes... He definitely is athletic (soccer background) and can SLAP too! :P
  23. Batista. If he could just get 15 mins per game I think he'd help. We need some meat down low. Plus, he gives you 200% when he's out there. Granted he'll probably pick up 4 fouls or so in that 15 minute span but he'll also frustrate the opposing PF for 15 minutes like he did Jermaine O'Neal. We're gettin' killed by opposing team's PF because we have no one to defend them. I continue to say, when the opposing team has a weak offensive center, put Josh Smith on him and put Batista/Edwards in to guard the PF. That way Josh can "hang around" the blocks and give backside help. I think late in games Woody could go offensive (Zaza)/defensive (Batista/Edwards) on his subs. I like Zaza, but he is hurting us on the defensive end. Anytime he gets pulled out to defend a pick and roll, he is too slow in reacting. His footspeed is suspect. Batista (soccer boy) has more lateral speed.
  24. He is SO totally screwed in the head right now... Has no confidence in anything he does... Last night's boxscore: 0-1 airball 2 rebounds 2 fouls 1 steal 2 turnovers in 12 minutes... ouch And add in the fact that he can't play one on one defense... He plays too far off on the guy instead of gettin' in his face like JJ does... I continue to say it, the Hawks are worse off with the Josh's on the floor... But I understand they're not gonna get any better on the bench... Plus, it improves our lottery position day by day... Only bad part is the projected top 5 in next year's draft is weak as all get out: Rudy Gay (yet another 6-8 player) Andrea Bargnani (7 footer with no body strength) Josh McRoberts (Freshman) LaMarcus Aldridge Daniel Gibson I sure hope these names become more familiar as the year goes on... yuk
