Hilton Armstrong was acquired by the Hawks in the trade that sent Mike Bibby, Jordan Crawford, and Atlanta's 2011 first round draft pick to Washington. The Hawks received guard Kirk Hinrich and Armstrong. Armstrong appeared in 12 regular season games for Atlanta and eight more in the playoffs. Most of that time was spent as mop up duty but he was pressed into action during the first round of the playoffs to help guard Dwight Howard. His final Atlanta averages were 1.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.

Armstrong just finished his fifth season in the NBA having played in New Orleans, Sacramento, Houston, and Washington before joining Atlanta. According to ShamSports, Armstrong made a little over $850,000 this season and is not under contract for the 2012 season. Will Atlanta look his way to help fill out its bench for next season? Difficult to say but not out of the realm of possibility. At 6-foot-11, Armstrong has intriguing height but at just 235 pounds lacks the muscle or the girth to successfully defend the center position. Furthermore at 26 years of age and having never averaging more than 4.8 points or 2.8 rebounds per game, I would say that we know exactly who Hilton Armstrong is.

Depending on the finances, Atlanta may decide to look his way again but they may be better served to look for a younger player with more upside that likely can provide the same things that Armstrong can at an even cheaper price.
