Peachtree Hoops: 2011 Eurobasket: Zaza Pachulia's 22 Points Not Enough As Georgia Falls To Slovenia 87-75

Zaza Pachulia scored a team high 22 points but Georgia fell to Slovenia 87-75 on Saturday at the 2011 Eurobasket Olympic qualifying tournament. Pachulia and company now have their work cut out for them if they hope to advance to the second round of the tournament. 

Slovenia scored five different players in double figures led by Jaka Lakovic's 22 points. Saso Ozbold tossed in 21 points while Zoran Dragic added 15. 

Pachulia's 22 points were bolstered by 9 of 15 shooting by the Atlanta big man. Manuchar Markoishvili aded 16 points and Viktor Sanikidze rounds out the Georgian players in double figures with 10. Georgia out shot Slovenia 53% to 40%, out rebounded them 38-29 yet lost by 12 points thanks to 21 turnovers committed. 

Currently Georgia finds itself in a tie for third place in Group D where the top three teams will advance to the next round. Luckily for Georgia, they are tied with their next two opponents Ukraine and Bulgaria so they still control their own destiny in the tournament.
