Chris Paul Rumors

It seems that Chris Paul rumors are destined to become a weekly feature until he either is signed to an extension by the Hornets or is traded to another team. ESPN's Chris Broussard reported earlier this week that the Hawks were among the teams that have called the Hornets regarding Chris Paul. This really isn't news because nearly every team in the league has called New Orleans to discuss Paul.

While I too dream about a trade for Chris Paul, I echo MC's opinion regarding the matter. The deal is a non-starter until it is known as to whether or not Paul would be willing to sign an extension with Atlanta and that is information that he is not going to give up at this point. Without that assurance there is no Chris Paul trade.

Jerry Stackhouse

Other news and notes as we close in on training camp include veteran Jerry Stackhouse working out at Philips Arena on Monday. Stackhouse told MC that several teams, including Atlanta, had talked with his agent but he had no training camp invites yet. Stackhouse is 37 years old and played in seven games with the Miami Heat last season.

I don't know how much Stackhouse has left in the tank but the Hawks are hurting for backcourt players. He fits the criteria of a cheap veteran so why not invite him to training camp on a non-guaranteed deal?

NBA Training Camps

Adreian Wojnarowski is reporting that the NBA may postpone the beginning of training camp until Monday. The free agent signing period is still slated to begin on Thursday but pushing camp back would give teams a few extra days to put together training camp rosters.

New CBA Vote

The NBA Players Association will vote on the new CBA on Wednesday after lawyers from both sides hammered out B-list issues over the weekend. The owners would likely vote on the deal Thursday which would coincide with free agent signings beginning on Friday.
