Please tell me how they have a legit shot of winning the title next year by tanking! Since we can just arbitrarily assume whatever goalposts we want.

Y'all do realize that these types of signings are valuable, right? Millsap, on a TWO YEAR deal? Watch him get moved for picks, this year or next. Gathering assets is a pretty smart way to go about it, because assets remain assets, you don't have to be lucky enough to win a crapshoot. AND hope they don't just flee your loser franchise as soon as they can.

I'd say he's too smart for PER -- PER overvalues volume shooting, and the guys he's picking are more closely aligned with the Win Shares list.

Quick summary: good value for his produced wins, Hots hates him, typical Ferry pick. ;)

Going by pure economics, and trusting in Win Shares, this is (like Korver) another good deal. He's pegged at being "worth" 24M over 2 years by the metrics.

To be fair, I don't think this situation is DH12 at all. Looking at the facts, the media reported something as a done deal before anyone officially gave the word. Daryl Morey even said he hadn't heard anything yet around the time the media was reporting DH12->Rockets.

Lin's pretty much equivalent to Teague. Teague's a little better, but not much. The question is: do you think Teague will be worth more than Lin will make? Also, Lin would only be signed for 2 years, keeping the path clear for the German Menace to roll in, Panzer-style.

And to those who think Asik can't sell tickets, ex-Hawk centers can certainly sell tickets. I've seen Cal Bowdler standing outside the Team Gear store next to that little 'spin the wheel' game on many a game night.

So with the Melo comparison, we're down from 3 sure-fire productive stars to 2. :) My point is that it's a year from the draft. Hard to say if they'll show improvement in college, look like crap in workouts, etc.
