  1. We missed out on Dorrell Wright? Trade everyone. Time to tank.
  2. Actually, this brings up a good point: we need to add "your lottery pick may refuse to play for you because your franchise is so abysmal" to the reasons not to tank.
  3. The only person who was truthful and mature about the Dwight situation was Dwight.
  4. Not sure if he wants out of Minny. He's probably still happy that Superman inadvertently freed him from the Phantom Zone: http://bit.ly/12O6Bzr
  5. I'm not worried about being a treadmill team. Hopping on the treadmill is a good way to go from being a cellar-dwelling fatass like me to being in actual contending health/shape.
  6. Signing Ellis == the Stealth Tank. Don't think that'll happen. Best way to tank would have been to re-sign Josh, bring in Ellis, trade for Bargnani and trade away Al for picks. Then we could have stockpiled several #1-4 draft picks.
  7. There's a 90% of cap salary floor now (if I'm not mistaken.) Gotta add to it somehow. I guess you could sign nothing but scrubs to 1-year-deals? The 2-year deals have been pretty smart in that regard.
  8. Zgoda and Broussard are both clowns. They probably use each other as sources.
  9. Since the salary floor is 90% of the CBA, what does tanking look like now that you HAVE to spend the money, I wonder? We should bring in Darko, Adam Morrison and Kwame Brown -- top 3 draft picks, all of 'em.
  10. Name the teams that intentionally got as bad as possible, then later won a championship. Your Paul George example is not exactly a pro-tanking one. The nine guys picked in front of him haven't done squat. Paul George is a good example of 'maybe if the ping pong balls fall your way, and maybe if you correctly evaluated a prospect, maybe he will work out for you' (leaving aside the 'maybe Paul George will leave the Pacers' question since he's still on his rookie deal, IIRC.) (Edit: I *do* think tanking worked before the lottery, and I think the lottery did a good job of putting an end to tanking as viable.)
  11. You forgot Myth #6: Tanking works.
  12. Some of these guys are sure bets, though. “He really is one of a kind. He runs the floor, handles the ball, shoots an NBA three and plays with his back to the basket. So you can slot him at the 3, 4 or 5. Okay, a few other guys can do that too; what sets him apart is his toughness in the post. You’ve got to love a guy who has the footwork to spin by an opponent but still prefers to lower a shoulder and bang. Fact is, he plays in attack mode at both ends of the floor. The more you push, the more he pushes back.” ^^ Sure thing superstar.
  13. I dunno, I was a fan of the 3-bigs lineup we ran out there last year with Smith/Horf/Zaza, even though Zaza is not exactly starter material, and Josh has his well-documented issues at the 3. Could it honestly be worse with Millsap/Horf/Asik if it came to it?
  14. That's a big part of it, but part of me feels like that was the peak of their contention, even though it was a first round loss. The energy was there, the crowd was crazy. Loved it. Saw a Celtics fan-drone bite the ear of a Hawks fan after one of their losses here, Holyfield-style.
  15. Smoove at the 3 in another city > Smoove at the 3 in Atlanta
  16. According to the Jazz fans chiming in on Peachtree Hoops, Millsap played a lot of SF, and played it well. Why not try out Millsap/Horford/(Another Big) for our frontcourt? Hell, if it doesn't work -- YAY LOOK EVERYONE WE'RE TANKING LIKE CHAMPS
  17. My favorite moments as a Hawks fan were when the team was an 8-seed, to be honest.
  18. I really assumed it would be PG - (FA?) / Lou SG - Jenkins / Lou SF - Korver / Junkyard PF - Millsap / Scott C - Horford / Muscala With money still to spend of course.
  19. The Spurs were a good team that lost a player -- that is NOT tanking. They were already an almost-complete package and Duncan put them over the top. The Bulls/Pistons were pre-lottery -- back when tanking worked. Now, far too many things have to go right for tanking to work, which is why it no longer works. Heat? Maybe. I guess you found the one outlier that makes tanking a winning strategy.
  20. Also, no. Very simply put: show me an example, just one, of a bad team that tanked, got a high pick, and then later won a championship due to that pick. If it's the way to do it, why hasn't it been done? Ever?
  21. Bad teams, the ones that tank, are so bad that draft picks do not help them. That is what the entirety of the lottery era shows us -- in fact, that's why we have the lottery era (because tanking USED to work.) Since you love warbling 'treadmill' over and over, here's some reading material for you: http://wagesofwins.com/2012/03/26/why-teams-should-try-and-get-on-the-treadmill-of-mediocrity/
