  1. I hope the Hawks do not draft Noah. He's not ready for the NBA...yet. Sure he had a great tournament, and exploded the last ten games. But, he came out of nowhere. Remember, this guy sat the pine last year. He played 3 total minutes in tourney last year. I think everyone is just infatuated with his great play of late, and I think it's silly to make him a top 5 pick already! He needs more time to develop into an NBA player....Lord knows we DON'T need another player that needs 3 years to mature, we already have plenty of those players. It's already hard enough watching Smoove, Chillz, Marvin, Royal, hell, everyone but JJ and AL become solid NBA players....
  2. Add another 6'9 player? Don't get me wrong, I like Big Baby's skill level and quick feet, however, weight is always going to be an issue with him. He loves to eat, and he's not bashful about that. I read an article about how he dropped 30 pounds strictly for this season and it's practically killing him. He misses his three Big Mac's, two large Fries, Large soda, and sundae dessert (this was actually documented as normal for him prior to the season). Granted right now he looks good, but you can predict off season binges that result in coming into training camps way overweight and out of shape. It will take him the first quarter of a season just to get his body in game shape. Not to mention, sustaining this over 82 games. LSU has played what, 32? At times, he looks tired on the floor now and he supposed to be in the best shape of his life. Very good skills, but would be a mistake to draft him that high for the Hawks. Dude should be a left guard in the NFL, with those feet.
  3. I agree. A big man in college, that dominates, should and always will be the first pick in the draft. I'm curious, why is there a post about Ellison anyway?? That was 17 years ago, who cares? Not to mention, it has nothing to do with this board...
  4. Woody deserves one more year to get this team to compete for a playoff spot. When your veterans are 24, and 25 and the nucleus is barely able to consume a beer legally, there will be a couple of years of growing pains. The dude should have one more year to work with these guys and mature in his system. Sure, I don't agree with all his decisions when the lights come on and his substitution patterns, but he's still learning to be a head coach just like the players are learning to play in the league. We bring in another coach that implements a whole new system, we're going to take a step backward. Let's see what happens next year after we address the PG situation and bring in a couple of big guys, which we are all in agreement which is going to happen this summer. Realisitcally, does anyone here actually believe the best coach in the NBA would produce 10 more wins for the Hawks? Even at that, we still would be looking from the outside-in at the playoffs.
  5. Unquestionable truth is the size of his head! His melon is gigantic!! C'mon guys, if you're taking drugs intended for race horses, for crying out loud, everything gets bigger! If you are a person who ACTUALLY believes he's not or wasn't juiced, I'm sorry, you're just plain dumb. He's a cheater. All his records are severly tainted and should possibly be removed.
  6. Interesting post...I have to admit, however, that I'm happy for the college game that kids right out of HS can't jump to the NBA. It's good for the college game, and it's good for the kid. Everyone can attest that college is one of the best experiences in life (if the THE best). All these kids at least get to experience it for one year....I guess I kind of bias too, I love the Buckeyes along with the Hawks, and Greg Oden as you all know, is coming to C-bus. Go Bucks!!!
  7. It's pretty pathetic that GS fans are actually stating that the Hawks are a dangerous team sitting at 19-39, but it's refreshing to see some positive pub from other NBA fans around the league. It appears that people are starting to notice that the Hawks are no longe the doormat of the league. Looking at our next 5 games, we could be staring at 3 maybe 4 wins. Let's hope...Then again, blowing a 17 point lead to the Heat could stick with us and we go 1-4.
  8. He is playing with the current MVP and most likely will retain that honor...Steve Nash can make every player better.
  9. Let's not forget this kid is still a teenager and he's a rookie in the NBA. I don't think he should be expected to become agressive and demand the ball at this infant stage of his career. Let's give him time to learn the game and become developed before we question his toughness.
  10. 5. Ugly Kid Joe 4. Korn 3. Damn Yankees 2. Bobby Brown - I liked "Humpin Around"....enough said 1. Winger. C'mon dude, I liked Winger Good article: http://hawks.realgm.com/articles/547/20060...ng_partnership/
  11. Stay away from the college coaches. John Calipari, Rick Pitino, Lon Krueger, P.J. Carlisimo....Mike Montgomery is figuring it out. College game is completely different. Stay away from Tubby....
  12. I'll be around for awile...I've been a Hawks fan my whole life, and just now found out about the Squawk (as the veterans like to call it). I can't stop reading.
  13. I can understand the "welfare mentality". I just think if you're a fan, you want your team to become better, and ultimately win everytime they are on the court. Besides, why would hawks fans want another high draft pick? We're already grooming extremely young guys, why add another? The way the draft is going to be anyhow this year, picks 2-6 will not be much different than 7-10....let's win and be happy about it! lord knows we're all sick of losing....
  14. Woody had no other choice. Considering his overall record as a head coach, the last thing he needs is people in the organization thinking he's lost control of the team. With that young of a team, control is essential. He had to speak up, not only for his guys, but his own livelyhood.
  15. I'm a little confused reading some of these threads. I can't figure out what types of fans our beloved Hawks have. Often we're complaining about not winning and our players needing to grow up and be more consistent. Then at other times, I'm reading threads were the very same people are complaining that we ARE winning and we're going to drop in the draft and get a bad pick! What gives? It makes no sense....
