If West can develop a 3 point shot, a la Bruce Bowen, he'll be in the league for a very long time.

He's also a rebounding beast. I think I can live with a few turnovers at the beginning of his career if he's close to a double-double every night.

If we hadn't made that trade, we'd have Diaw (or not; we'd probably have let his sorry ass go by now) and Rajon Rondo to show for it. Yeah, that would really have pushed this rebuilding team to the next level.

I would make that deal. I would be willing to sacrifice another 4 or 5 years of bad basketball in Atlanta, to have 13 first round draft picks in the next 7 years. I know we have went through our growing pains already and would be harder for us to do, but the Lakers and Seattle both seem like they want to rebuild now. Huh?

Maybe I'm misinterpreting the point of this thread, but when was it a bad thing for an offensive player to rely on a picture perfect form jumpshot?

Yeah, I can't believe a rookie in his first 4 games in the league hasn't been able to shutdown Jason Terry, Chauncy Billups, Jason Kidd and Steve Nash.

I'm not really understanding how a lottery pick PG with the reputation of being a monster in the clutch can't sniff the court in the 4th quarter, even when the team is in desperate need of a boost. Woodson's devotion to Lue is bordering on Jim Mora-Jason Webster territory.

Sounds great. Horford played exactly as advertised. Shocking, I know! Would have liked to see him dominate the boards a little more, but overall that's a very impressive debut. I'm very happy. I like that Law was looking to set his teammates up. It sounds like he might have had to force a few shots up to beat the buzzer? Anyway, I'm not concerned about his shooting. Every shooter has games where his shot doesn't fall, even in SL. It'll come to him.

I think of all of our players, the one who would most benefit from playing with a quality PG is Marvin. I realize that's kind of ironic.

Not to get completely off topic here, but after the All Star break, when his hand was closer to 100%, Marvin shot just under 46% from the field. That's comparable to the fg percentages of Kobe Bryant, Michael Redd, Vince Carter, Joe Johnson, etc., and better than those of Gilbert Arenas, Ray Allen, Allen Iverson, Paul Pierce, Tracy McGrady.

Well, going by summer league stats, it appears Portland really blew it by picking Greg Oden over Spencer Hawes.

Horford averaged more points per game than Noah last year, so I'm not really sure what you're getting at there. Donovan himself said Horford was a better pro prospect than Noah a year ago. Nobody's knocking Donovan's system by pointing out that Florida relied on offensive balance to win, therefore individual statlines don't mean much. Look at almost any player's stats from a deep and balanced college team and you won't find too many 20+ ppg players. The fact that Horford didn't have to carry the offensive load all alone for Florida doesn't mean he won't be an effective scorer in the NBA.

Artest is still talented, but he shoots a low percentage from the field, and he'll join a team that starts 4 gunners who don't play a lick of defense. And they're all crazy. Great idea, Zeke!

He deferred to a senior at Roy Williams' request and was praised for his unselfishness. And he was widely considered all throughout his freshman season as the most talented frontcourt player on that team, not just because he had a "few good games" in the tourney. You think he's not as good as Jawad Williams or Sean May? Saying that someone going to college for a year instead of going pro out of high school is any kind of indicator of how good they are is ridiculous. After the All Star break last season, Marvin averaged 14.5 ppg and 6 rpg on 45% shooting and over 80% at the line. The first half of the season he was coming back from a broken hand which obviously affected his shooting percentage. Now the post-All Star break numbers aren't mindblowing, but considering everyone said when he was drafted that he'd be a project and that he'd need at least 2 years before he put everything together, those are pretty good numbers. If Marvin had stayed in school for his sophmore year and came out in last year's draft, he would have gone #1, and if averaged 14.5 ppg 6 rpg as a rookie, we'd all be ecstatic over his potential. Is he a finished product? Of course not. Did he show significant growth as a player last year? Yes, and that's undeniable. The fact that his development gets compared to two players who were far more NBA ready than him is completely unfair.

Of course, that's assuming Charlotte doesn't resign Wallace.
