  1. I'll give him credit because we were badly outrebounded to start the game and made the right adjustments. This game was won on the glass. Limit the Celts to one and done and you can dictate the pace and beat them. I'm still dubious about him returning as HC, though.
  2. Quote: He needs to have games like this consistently instead of disappearing so much. But the whole "hater" "hugger" thing is so puerile. I agree on both.
  3. Look, I know most of you won't change your opinions of him, but it would be nice to see the Marvin haters here step up and give him credit for coming through in the biggest game of the season. He also showed some heart coming back out with a sore knee.
  4. Quote: Quote: That Atlanta wants to drag Boston into an uptempo trash talking game. Am I wrong in thinking that Boston started the trash talking? Of course you're not. Anyone outside of a few delusional Boston fans can see that the Celtics were only getting a dose of their own medicine when we talked back to them.
  5. The only journalists who should get a vote on these awards are beat reporters who are forced by their jobs to watch every team play at least twice and talk to scouts from both conferences on a daily basis. The problem is they let columnists who probably only watch about 30-40 full NBA games total a year and who rely on stat sheets and highlights to form their opinions. So it's no surprise it's a popularity contest. Durant's name was probably etched on the award during summer league.
  6. Quote: Sure, why not! The Hawks have never historically had a problem with any pot smoking player. Well, before Rider, Mookie was a team leader despite his penchant for smoking up.
  7. Simmons praised that trade at the time and ripped Joe repeatedly for coming to Atlanta instead of playing with Nash. He even ranked Diaw above Joe in his players trade value column the next year. Here's the quote: Quote: 38. Boris Diaw A throw-in to the Joe Johnson trade cracks the annual Top 40 list ahead of Johnson just 12 months later. Ladies and gentleman, Mr. Billy Knight! Now he watches Joe torch his team for 20 4th quarter points and suddenly he's "reminded" that Phoenix dicked Joe around and lowballed him until he manned up and said I don't want to be here, let me go. Convenient.
  8. Quote: I have come to the conclusion Marvin sucks PERIOD. I'm shocked.
  9. The Hawks have grown up and exposed these Celtics in the process! You gotta love it!
  10. Quote: Right before the game, he was talking about how big-headed we must be if we think that we're even "comparable" with the Celtics. I hope one of our players hear him say that again. That made no sense. He said the reason Philly is up 2-1 is they know they're inferior to the Pistons and the reason we were down 0-2 is we think we're better than the Celtics. What??? He also said the Celtics are superior at every position, which means he must think Kendrick Perkins is better than Al Horford. How this idiot somehow convinced someone he's an expert on anything is beyond me. He's dumber than Chad Ford.
  11. Am I the only one who remembers Sam Cassell's d**k wagging dance a few weeks ago? Am I the only one who's noticed the Celtics have been showing up teams all year and acting like they're the MJ-era Bulls despite the fact that until Cassell showed up the only one of them with a ring is James Posey? I guarantee you, no matter what SAS or any moron at ESPN said, the rest of the league stood up and applauded Horf for shoving it back in Pierce's smug, overrated face.
  12. It doesn't matter what actually happens in a game. It's always Marvin's fault.
  13. The Hawks played hard tonight and lost. There's no dishonor in that.
  14. Quote: Truth hurts don't it. Even if the Hawks make the playoffs what is the point in watching them get blown out? JJ is the only real starter the Hawks even have. And he can't get it done against the top teams either. That's just completely stupid.
  15. If we don't, we don't deserve to make the playoffs. It's as simple as that.
  16. You take out your player if he gets 2 fouls in the 1st quarter. You wait until a few minutes into the second quarter, and depending on the circumstances (is your team in a hole? is the backup playing horribly?), you bring him back in and play him unless he picks up his third. This has been the rule of every pro coach I've ever watched until Woodson. Sometimes he won't bring a player back in the 4th even if he only has 4 fouls! I seriously do not know if he knows you get 6 fouls in an NBA game.
  17. God. Everytime this team looks like they've finally put it together, they come out with an effort like this.
  18. Quote: that is hilarious....man, if only the Hawks could get a "Youthier" player.. i can't tell if he's drunk or rolling.... that man needs to stop living like he's 19 and on the street...he needs to grow up and be a man and learn when NOT to talk to the media....I tell you Marbury hasn't done some of the terrible things that other talented players (rider for example) has but he still fails to maximize his potential and mature as a human being it seems. And yeah, Isiah didnt help either. Marbury is an immature basketball player and probably not the most professional star athlete, but he's done an incredible amount of charity in his personal life, and not just the affordable sneakers thing. Just wanted to put that out there.
  19. I think the Hawks would be no worse than 6th in the East, most probably 5th and possibly 4th in that scenario. If we had Bibby from the start of the year, we would've given Orlando a run for their money for the Southeast. As it stands, we might steal a game or two from Boston in the first round. Then we have to hope for a new veteran coach, possibly a new GM, a solution to the ownership mess, locking up Smith, locking up or trading Childress, a solid FA or trade acquisition, and a strong developmental offseason for Marvin, Horf and Law, and I think this is a solid playoff team next year, and a team that can make a serious run the year after.
  20. You mean ESPN actually employs one person who has some sense about this? I'm shocked.
  21. I watched the entire game. He got into foul trouble in the 3rd on a dubious offensive foul call. GS is the one of the few teams the Hawks can match up with without needing a true big out there, and since they went small for pretty much all of the second half, Woodson didn't see the need to bring him back in. They played a pretty solid 4th quarter, so I guess he actually didn't make a poor decision. I'm not a fan of Woodson, but this was one of his better coached games. It's not necessary to nitpick everything.
  22. Quote: Quote: Stephen A Smith is a bum. Nuff said. He's a black d*ck Vermeil. All mouth,. Check that. d*ck Whatever his name is. Vitale. Vermeil's the ex-NFL coach who cries over everything.
