  1. I don't want to tank. Oden is not coming out, and I have zero faith in current ownership. We will not be fixed until there is clear new ownership or we have a new franchise four our CITY. I want to win every game. It's a shame Mr. Gearon Sr. thinks Woody knows how to.
  2. You know nothing about journalism. Why was it unethical?
  3. Quote: I know what the team has done. The fact that you would disparage someone who has devoted themselves for 30 years to improving this team and this franchise is sickening. During his time as GM (1977-78; 1978-79), the Hawks made the playoffs every year and he still gambled on trading for Dan Roundfield who was a standout and multiple All-Star for the Hawks in the post. So? The last 8 years cancel out everything. I mean everything. We did not deserve this. If they did not have a better plan, they should have stayed out. Also, if Matt Millen is allowed to stay 30 years and "devote" himself to the Lions, will the fans be disrespectful by loathing him?
  4. Quote: Quote: It shouldn't be hard for people to "let go" of this year's team's feelings and GD step up for this franchise and demand the potential to contend. Maybe it is too much to ask of them. Maybe their not fan-enough to want the Hawks' franchise to do what it takes to actually contend in this league. OK, so the last part...the rhetoric cuts both ways. W I understand where you are coming from, Walter. I don't question your motivation as a fan who wants this team to contend for a title and who believes that this is a special draft that is worth taking on the risks involved with tanking this season. However, I do think that anyone who questions whether Michael Gearon, Sr. wants the best for this team doesn't have their head on straight (I don't think you are doing this). Schultz should have his credentials questioned for the kind of mistake he made with Gearon. You might as well try to be a music critic for the AJC and bash the latest Rolling Stones album while suggesting that Keith Richards is a roadie. You read the AJC right? You know Schultz is not a hrd hitting investigative journalist. He tries to make us laugh. I think he's just fed up as a fan. Why aren't you? By the way, a fat woman in a trailer wants to be a skinny one in a mansion. I really don't care what Gearon Sr. or Jr. want at this point.
  5. Quote: Quote: So he's the part of the group of douche' bags to Fire Hubie, fire Fratello, fire Wilkens, trade Wilkens, allowed Bk to stay, even though Pete brought him in. In essence you're saying he's the one guy who has been involved with the Atlanta Hawks pretty much the whole time. Since you want Schultz to check the record, why don't you check the records of the franchise in the 60's. It was a lot better than the last 37 years. We have never competed for a title in Atlanta. There is no argument to make. The facts speak for themselves. Shultz is dead on! Why are you nit-picking the messenger? You know the message is sound. Your disrespect for the history of this team is appalling. 4 division titles since 68'! With one of those coming from the last ownerships' players. Are you happy with that? 6. How so? Because I accidentally misspelled Wilkins? I've watched the Hawks for about 25 years. How can wanting a change from these guys be disrespectful? I've met Schultz. He's a cool guy. He's telling the truth.
  7. I can't think of anything right now. A reactionary move would not be enough. I need to see some kind of acknowledgement of failures and a new plan.

  9. What do you mean "might not"? He carried us tonight.
  10. These were the type of "better than Woody" nights that I thought we would see a lot more of.
  11. Quote: This is a totally different team from the last few weeks. The ball movement on offense and aggressiveness could not be more different. Why don't we always move the ball like this? Because they are scared of the Pistons. They are bringing it a little more. They see most teams as their equal and get lost "playing their game" as individuals.
  12. I had a hernia as a kid. Totally unrelated to lifting or anything. There are a couple of kinds. If it's like mine was, and I think it was, he'll be fine.
  13. That defense on the screen and roll was unwatchable!
  14. He might not always know what he's doing, but Smoove really tries to compete.
  15. Anyone see that pathetic Hawks injuries body chart? Disgusting. We're grown ups. We are not losing because of injuries. What will it be tonight, 16 of 18?
  16. I am happy for you. If I wasn't disgusted with our whole team I would actually want to watch this game. He will probably provide a little spark.
  17. Heard some very kind remarks about our new defensive coordinator today by a Dallas radio guy. Basically he said this guy is everything you could hope for. He was forced by Bill Parcells to switch to a 3-4. In a 4-3 he is as good as they get. He was making 7 figures as an assistant! He was given the raise because he turned down the Nebraska job to stay with the Cowboys. He has had a run of excellent defenses and has recently held what the guy from the radio says was an undertalented defense above water in an unfamiliar scheme. I was very pleased to not only hear the great things about him, but also the way they were said. Sounded like they were really going to miss this guy. With our talent this could all mesh.
  18. We must have been, right? I've seen his name mentioned like 25 times a thread every thread. Greg Oden is awesome! Our problems are waaay beyond Oden's influence though. Imagine we get him. If we still have the same ownership, it doesn't matter. We have a bunch of guys that got way over their heads. Financially and philosophically, when it comes to basketball. They have let BK stand and have watched Woody for 3 years. I have no, and I mean no respect for their basketball knowledge. They are embarrassing our city!
  19. Stop dreaming! He needs to be put down! He is a total joke. What a waste. Even if his knees didn't magically fall apart, he still sucked and I really don't think any other team would take him.
  20. I don't really like what I've seen from Vick as far as an accountability standpoint. I do think Reeves was the best coach for him. Dan knew a whole lot about football. His offense had a meaning.
  21. Quote: I thought it would be interesting to just give everybody a political party here on Hawksquawk so that we know where everybody stands and maybe could end the redundancy!! 22. Quote: Off the top of my head: Jeff George, Michael Booker, Andre Bruce, Bruce Pickens, Michael Vick. Yes, Mike Vick. I had hoped for the best with him. His attitude and lack of overall knowledge, however, make him the biggest disappointment in franchise history. It's always someone elses fault with him. Jeff George is a strong second. Totally forgot Blind Eye Whitfield. Skillet hands Finneran makes H.M.
  23. I thought the thread needed an update.
  24. Quote: Quote: The guy tried to get a job at Best Buy using Jerry Krause as a reference, OMG that is classic! Chad Johnson does the same thing. From time to time he fills out an application to see if he could get the job. It seems less crazy coming from him. More for fun. I think Artest might actually suit up for Best Buy!
