  1. You mean last night as in the night of the draft lottery. Surely you mean some other night.
  2. What's a realistic amount of time you feel it will take us to win a championshiop?
  3. Quote: It ain't asking a whole hell of a lot, in other words. What else is he out there doing during the off-season, golfing Walking his dog and running of his treadmill. BK is never around the Hawks so I assume he spends his time scouting during the season. If it's like past year's he's seen most of what he needs to see during this time(Shelden, Childress) and workouts will probably not change his decision much despite what happens(CP3).
  4. I was referring to all the excuses being used as to why Brandon Wright was not the man while he was at North Carolina. I swear to you it mimicks all the posts around here during the Marvin/CP3 wars.
  5. Everything about this smells like Marvin.
  6. I was starting to lean towards Hibbert and #3. http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...t_of_nba_draft/ Report: Hoyas' Hibbert Will Pull Out Of NBA Draft 23rd May, 2007 - 7:09 am Camille Powell of the Washington Post - Georgetown juniors Jeff Green and Roy Hibbert are scheduled to announce their decisions on if they will pull out of the June 28 NBA Draft at a noon news conference today. A source though says Hibbert, who is a projected lottery pick, will return for his senior season. Hibbert has said his odds were 50-50 on returning to the team due to the stockpile of big men in this draft. "Do I want to go eight through 14, or do I want to go top three next year?" Hibbert said in April. "That does play a factor in my decision. . . . I wouldn't want to be at the end of a bench on an NBA team, not being able to develop and show what I can do, so another year here would be great, obviously. There is no word though on the potential lottery pick guard Jeff Green but he has said in the past that there was a 70 percent chance he would return to the Hoyas next season. [READ]
  7. If I'm Boston and Yi is the supposed next Dirk I think I take a shot at him. They don't need a point. This may work for us in a trade down scenario.
  8. It's clear that Brandon Roy is the reason Portland got the #1. Had BK drafted Roy last year instead of Shelden not only would we have our PG and the ROY but we would also have the #1 pick.
  9. If he has good combine #'s like agility he's going to be hard to pass up. We know we need and 1 and 5. We WILL get one. It's unavoidable even for Billy. Not only will be get one but we can get the best one available at the position.
  10. Quote: OH MY GOODNESS. Now basically every team besides Memphis is a playoff contender in that conference. Every team in the east is a playoff contender except for Boston.
  11. With the first 2 picks a foregone conclusion we have the power to dictate the draft. After workouts we in some way will have the #1 pick. What does this mean to us? It means teams will be manuvering with stone faced Billy Knight. Let me say I'm no fan of BK and am scared out of my wits with him at the helm but if a player shines in his workouts we will be bending GM's over. Could this mean a trade? We are young as hell after all. As it stands right now I'm for picking Conley Jr. at the #3 spot and getting whoever at #11. This will be an interesting month leading up to the draft. We will probably be the biggest topic as it gets closer the draft and the rumor mill will be operating at peak capacticity. Should be interesting.
  12. Not sure if it was Nintendo but I used to play this game called SNK baseball. Yo could create your own players and they had these wild teams names. I had no idea about baseball history at the age(about 10) and they had this player named Cy Young and he had a era of like 0.79 and I used to think who the f*ck is this dude with a era like that(lol). I didn't even know what era was then but I knew I could never get mine that low
  13. Gray, this would really be a hard pill to swallow. We would easily be on the level of Browns fans in terms of suffering if this were to happen.
  14. If they beat us to the playoffs this truly has been amongst the worst failures in NBA history.
  15. I feel the same with T-mac even though he has Yao so maybe that explains it some. Vince should be unstoppable. As a matter of fact the Nets should be unstoppable. When I think about the Hawks lacking a inside presence I see the Nets. With Kidd, Vince, and Jefferson being vets and only being this good together, how good can JJ, Marvin, Josh be as the main cogs of this team. I know it's apples to oranges but in the back of my mind it still worries me. Somebody better get to getting good in the post in a hurry. Even the suns need Amare to win. We need a 5 like people in hell need a/c.
  16. I'd have to say among "superstars" it's between Lebron and Dirk. You can pretty much count on them to miss free throws in the last minutes of tight game. I had to remove Arenas off the last because of the many game winning shots he hit this season but it may be temporary because he didn't play in the playoffs. I remember last year in the playoffs vs. Cleveland he missed those two free throws after Lebron whispered something in his ear. If I remember correctly that ended Washington's series last yr.
  17. Quote: From the ownership perspective trades are more important than draft picks because they can involve a much bigger investment. Isn't that the truth. Look at the fall out from the JJ trade. Speaking from hindsight this is a trade I still like although having the 11th pick makes the chance of losing our pick this year a little easier to swallow.
  18. The GM shouldn't rubber stamp the decision of the owner. The owner should rubber stamp the decision of the GM especially when it concerns something as important as a lottery pick.
  19. Quote: They agreed to the contract to buy the franchise and look how that worked out. Don't get me wrong, Belkin was dead wrong for the way he is going about his business but he wasn't wrong for questioning BK's decision. I don't believe you give a GM free reign like this. If they had agreed with Belkin our pick would probably have more protection on it, though it may not matter. At least is seems he questioned it. Quote: Why do you think Toronto hired Colangelo? Do you think they hired him to rubber stamp the owners basketball decisions? No, they rubber stamp his decisions when it comes to things of such importance.
  20. If that is the argument being made and I'm convinced then I okay the deal, thus making me responsible as well. The point is that I make my input. The draft is a building block of every team, especially a lottery pick. If you're not involved in that decision why even own the team. How many more important decision are going to come up regarding the team? Your players are the very substance of your team. There is nothing more important as they are your product.
  21. Quote: then you fire him. Do you really think the owners can come to a consensus about who to draft? Just look at the way this board is divided over 3 quality pg prospects in this years draft. And even if the owners could come to a consensus it doesn't matter because they hired a GM specifically to make the basketball decisions. That is his job. They should be able to come to a consensus since they agreed to be a ownership group. For a group of people to say we can't agree to do something so we should simply do nothing is retarded.
  22. Simple question. Two years ago when we clearly needed a point guard. I'm not talking hindsight either. When your GM says he's picking another SF in Marvin Williams and you strongly belive we need a PG you reply to his e-mail saying I feel we need a point but if you want Marvin okay. Are you phookin kidding me. When it's your business unless you are old and ready to retire there is no way you just let some guy make these important decision unchallenged. If the person in charge of entertainment tells you they want to make Rosie O'Donnell a cheerleader are you just gonna go duh, okay.
  23. Quote: But they aren't going to have a say in his moves. If they did there would be no point in having a GM n the first place. This has to be much more rare than the norm. On one extreme you may have an Al Davis. To a lesser extent Mark Cuban or Jerry Jones. The GM's these guys have don't have total autonomy with personel decisions. On the other extreme we have what you are talking about. I would believe that most teams fall in the middle as I hope the Hawks do.
  24. If BK just calls the owner and says he's drafting MW, the owners are on the hook for the decision as well. With a decision as important as a lottery pick in the league he would have to inform the owners. There's no way around it. It's not like he Hawks are owner by Time Warner anymore. The ASG would have to come to a consensus as well for BK to move foward. Billy Knight just publicly takes the blame. You have scouts, presidents, vp of basketball operations, there is no way BK says in says on May 22nd who he taking and that is it. I just don't believe it.
