  2. I think the only person in danger of losing their job out of training camp will be ZaZa other wise it will be Speedy(too good on defense), JJ(nuff said), Marvin(2nd pick. What?), Smoove(Game changer), ZaZa(all things equal I'd go with experience). Barring injuries I don't expect any rookies to have a chance to start until January.
  3. Charlotte is the most likely but I personally don't like Chicago. It seems like everytime they play us they basically punk us, overpower us, muscle us. I think when we start to peak Chicago will be the team we will have to go through. I don't think we've beaten them in the last 3 years.
  4. Great movie indeed. Saw it on Friday and would recommend it and yes, it's better than Supremacy although the car chase in Supremacy is the best ever. On a side note also saw Spiderman 3 this weekend. Total crap.
  5. That's kid is incredible. He had guys taking knees on kickoffs and they weren't even returning the ball. lol.
  6. I like the thought of it but it probably depends on how the rest of the team develops. The pistons were solid at every position. On our team JJ is so much better than everybody else it's almost natural for him to dominate the ball. I guess it's the same with most other superstar led teams. Honestly, I'm crossing my fingers that Josh Smith will develop into that second superstar player that we need.
  7. http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articl...60_FORTUNE5.htm SAN FRANCISCO (Dow Jones) -- Microsoft Corp. said late Thursday that it will take a charge of up to $1.15 billion, due to an expanded warranty program for what it called an "unacceptable" number of repairs required for its Xbox video- game system. Microsoft (MSFT) said that due to the needed repairs for the Xbox 360, it will be "enhancing" its warranty policy for the devices, expanding coverage to three years. The company will "take a $1.05 billion to $1.15 billion pretax charge to earnings for the fourth quarter that ended June 30 for anticipated costs under its current and enhanced Xbox 360 policies," it said. In a conference call with analysts, Microsoft Chief Financial Officer Chris Liddell said that the charge will have no impact on the company's overall guidance for fiscal 2008. The entertainment and devices unit president, Robbie Bach, added that the company still Microsoft expects the Xbox business to become profitable sometime in fiscal 2008, thanks to factors such as the release of the highly anticipated "Halo 3" in September. Microsoft specifically cited the "three flashing red lights" error message encountered by Xbox 360 users experiencing hardware failures. The company said that it will repair or replace devices that experience the " Red Ring of Death" within three years of their purchase. Previously, Microsoft offered a one-year warranty for Xbox consoles. Microsoft also said that it will retroactively reimburse customers who have paid for repairs related to the red-light error message. Hardware issues with the Xbox 360 have been widely reported lately, and the red-light message was dubbed the Red Ring of Death by gamers and bloggers. Various published reports place the failure rate of Xbox 360 consoles at between 30% and 33%. Liddell said that at the end of June, Microsoft had sold 11.6 million Xbox consoles. That figure falls short of prior estimates: Liddell said in January that Microsoft expected to have sold 12 million of the consoles by the end of June. Bach declined to disclose the number of consoles that have experienced failures, though he said that "with a billion-dollar charge... it's a meaningful number." The online publication DailyTech reported on July 3 that a British game- console repair company has withdrawn its service for the red-light error, citing the high volume of requests for such repairs. In addition, a blog has been published specifically addressing the Red Ring of Death and offering methods for preventing it. Bach said that no evidence of the red-light error message surfaced during the first months after the Xbox 360's release late last year, but elaborated with the following: "In the last couple of months, we started to see significant increases in repair requests ... and significant attention from people, so we geared up to respond to that." The executive added that an alteration already has been implemented in both consoles Microsoft has in its inventory, as well as those now being manufactured. "We think we have our hands around it at the engineering level." The $1.05 billion to $1.15 billion charge comes as Microsoft last reported having $28.2 billion in cash and short-term investments on hand at the end of its fiscal third quarter ended in March. Microsoft is due to report fourth-quarter earnings July 19. The Xbox constitutes a relatively small portion of Microsoft's revenue. The company's entertainment and devices unit, which includes the Xbox, posted $947 million in revenue for the company's third quarter, compared with $5.28 billion in revenue for the Microsoft's client unit, which includes its flagship Windows operating system.
  8. This dude made a terrible career choice. This just goes to show you shouldn't do things out of desperation. He was desperate for any head coaching job and this is what it got him. Even if he coached a team that won like 50 games a year it would probably take 10 years to get back to .500 This guy will never be a head coach in the NBA again if gets fired from here. His win/loss record is like having a felony on your record for stealing from work or beating up your boss. He should never have taken this Hawks job.
  9. 1. Trade for Gasol or Amare 2. Draft Conley. 3. Draft Yi and best PG left. If we were just drafting I would say pick Conley but I have to put a trade as the better option for us.
  10. Heard the interview this morning. He did say Deng would not even come to work out for the Hawks but the injury thing was a tirade about the team having more information then the fans. It had nothing to do with Luol Deng. He was saying how some stats of players are overrated(in terms of heigh and weight) and how they find out the truth about them in workouts and research. He talked about how a player could have 3 surgeries in the same place and how could this not be revealed until teams doing their research. I guess he was saying thing like this are hidden(probably by agents). He did not mention the foot specifically he just said surgery in the same place 3 times and he was not referring to Deng at all.
  11. Dude, they alreay have Gay why would they take Marvin. Speedy started last season. We can have Anderson if we pony up he money though I agree I don't think we're getting him. How many players on this current team are better than Bonzi? What do you suggest and how come you're not a GM?
  12. I'm not a Spurs fan but after tonight I am have a lot more respect for them. They are just good. No ways around it. I'm nearly in awe of their success. I often regret not watching more of Jordan, Barry Sanders or Mike Tyson in their primes but that has led me to realize that when greatness shows it's face just to enjoy it whether they are your favorite or not.
  13. What we are starting with Speedy/Lue/AJ JJ/Chilz/Salim Marvin Josh/Shelden/Este ZaZa/Solomon Plus 3 & 11. Trade 3,ZaZa,Chilz maybe Lue if necessary for Gasol. Add David Anderson and sign Bonzi Wells(he has a player option). Pick Acie Law for Critt with 11 Speedy/Law or Critt/AJ JJ/Bonzi/Salim Marvin Josh/David Anderson/Solomon Gasol/Shelden The big problem with this would be Bonzi. He is really good but has known a bad reputation(and deservedly so). I don't think he will play for Houston again. If we could convince him to play a Manu Ginobli role off the bench even though he could start he would lead a talented second unit for us. He makes about 2 million next year. If we are over the cap we surely could get him for the MLE.
  14. And Tony Parker is my hero. A hug and kiss from Eva with her legs wrapped around you.
  15. Or when can we expect to compete for a championship. If we draft Yi we are preparing for the future. JJ and Gasol together should be expected to begin competing for the chance to represent the East in the Finals immediately. There will be no need to worry about Gasol's contracts effect the future cap flexibility of the team. The future would begin immediately. In terms of Yi. JJ has three years left on his contract. How long will it take for Yi to become great? At least 2 years. We have a team now that can conceivably get to the playoffs next year without much contribution for Yi. We make the playoffs next year and the year after while Yi develops. In the third year he's great and we make a run for the title. Well that year JJ's contract is up and he becomes even more expensive along with a resigned Marvin, Josh Smith, Childress, Shelden, Solo, and Salim. Inevitably we will have to go over the cap. If we keep worrying about not signing this player or that player because of cap flexibility we will never have a good team. The way our prized player contracts are staggered it's impossible for us to stay under the cap, while simultaneously all the players reach their max potential(someone pointed this out earlier). If Yi is the pick than fine but we really need to get on with this winning thing. At least next year we won't have to worry about the future superstar player because we won't have any picks. J/K. People will be screaming about how we need to trade into that draft. I wonder do fans of other teams worry about money they are not spending like this one?
  16. Gasol or Conley are the things that would truly make me happy as I believe they would help us the most and the fastest. Both would be a dream come true.
  17. It still doesn't make in a conspiracy.
  18. Looks like they only have the stats for the last 2 year and since Paul didn't play at Wake for the last 2 years he has no stats.
  19. I agree. It's getting hard to read some of this stuff. Either I'm getting smarter or the collective intelligence of this board is getting lower.
  20. Quote: 1. Why do the superstars sign these huge contracts and (Kobe 7 years 120 million, Garnett, etc) then whine when the team can't sign any help other than journeymen role players. To make matters worse they expect good players to take discounts on salary when they got their money. My guess on this is that when these playes initially sign these contracts they think they can do it all by themselves. They quickly realize that's not how it works. Quote: 2. Why do teams sign guys to max contracts and then try to dump them 1-2 years later when it was obvious the guy had issues (Zach Randolph) or a history of injury (Kenyon Martin). Then they expect some other GM to ignore the these facts and take on their salary. PHX knew that they couldn't afford all three guys but they signed them anyway. It doesn't make any sense. Or they overpay and try to dump the salary (Nene, Dalembert,JO, Dunleavy jr, Murphy, Austin Croshere etc). I am no rocket scientist but I just know when a team is giving a guy a bad contract. Free market and nobody wants to end up like the 90's clippers other than the 90's clippers. Quote: 3. How did Billy Knight got so much power/control in Atlanta, when he has never built a contender anywhere and was never part of a championship organization. It's mind boggling isn't it?
  21. He probably could start simply because of the fact that he is not turnover prone. Someone posted an article where Woody says he thinks Ivey will be around in the league a long time because he doesn't make mistakes(i.e. stupid turnovers) comparing that part of Ivey's game to Chauncy Billups. Conley's defense plus his low turnovet rate may be to Woody's liking and frankly competition isn't that great for the starters spot. Lue doesn't want it, Salim can't get it, some player or two may have to go(AJ,Lue,Ivey). His real competition will probably be Speedy but if history shows anything Speedy at some point will get hurt and Conley will probably take his job when that happens.
  22. If we are going to trade with them I can't really see anybody else we should want. They want Mike and we may want Mike. So they will have to do something to stop us from taking him. I wanted Aldridge pre lottery last yr. On the plus side for some other people if he is willing to take Roy it could me he would be willing to take Critt(the big guard) if his doesn't work out. On a side not, I've never watched Critt but from what I've read about him here and other places at why can't he become a Wade/Kobe shooting guard with point guard skills. He's 6'5.
  23. This is convservative but good. I would be very happy with this trade.
  24. Most teams are in the playoffs for year's before they win a title. Once they learn how to play the NBA they then have to learn how to play in the playoffs. I don't know if there is a guy in this draft that gives us a chance to make the playoffs anymore than the other. Down the road they could come up huge but who in this draft can do it next year. Who's done it recently? If we make the playoffs it probably will be a combination of things and only a small part will be any of these rookies. So the question for me is do we fill our need and start developing that player or do we create a glut and start developing that player. I'm for the former. If we go for Yi he had damn well better be the superstar to play next to JJ.
