  1. Quote: Knight has had 100% freedom to make the picks. That is a fact. I believe that is still the case...his lack of talent in picking players and signing free agents is a reflection of bad ownership, however. The buck stops with the ASG reagardless. Even though I'm getting away from the point of my original post they at the very least know who he's going to pick before hand. If I'm the owner and BK says I want Shelden or Marvin I'm like WTF. Maybe he has a convincing argument that changes my mind and we pick who he wants anyway, but picking without being questioned by me the owner is ridiculous. On a side note, the Texans fired their GM right after he passed on Vince and Reggie so maybe it does work like that with certain teams. The teams that usually suck . If that is the case I plead with the owners to take a more active role in the building of this team.
  2. Quote: Yep...BK is a disaster. Ni_ga please...BK has been a total mess. Passing on CP3 and Deron when we needed a PG BAD. Holy Toledo!! I think BK doesn't respect the position. I can't think of any other reason he has failed to fix this obvious problem. Even Marcus Williams looks good.
  3. Quote: That is implying that the owners have had a say in the draft picks. That is highly unlikely. They have said that they have given BK the freedom to make his own moves To me that seems highly unlikely. I can see letting a guy recommend who he wants and then signing off unless you strongly oppose but just letting a guy pick whoever he wants whenever is stupid. It's unreasonable for me to believe that's how the ASG works. If that's the case they are playing roulette with the team they own.
  4. Quote: If i am an owner i am looking at Deng and Deron coming up huge in the playoffs and wondering what might have been. I am also wondering what BK will do to screw up this draft. If you are going to rebuild your team primary through the draft you'd better make good use of your picks. BK hasn't. This is a fan perspective. As an owner you're tied at the hip to BK. You are signed off on these players through your GM. Unlike a fan who has no say. If you are wondering about the decision you would spend 50 percent of the time looking at BK and the other 50 percent looking in the mirror.
  5. If capable of completely detatching your fan status and looking from a purely ownership status how would you view this team. This is one of the main reasons why my views on the Hawks are usually so conflicted. From a fan standpoint the only thing I want are wins, but I sometimes fall into the ownership viewpoint and come to a different conclusion about this team. It's a love hate thing. As a fan we have no point, no center, an inept coach and GM. If I were an owner I would see capspace, young developing players, more than a few tradeable contracts(ZaZa, Lo, probably even Speedy). My GM maybe bad to fans but as an owner he hasn't put me in a Knicks situation. And even they continue to make moves in an attempt to improve their roster. My coach may be bad to fans but he has improved the team every year, is cheap, and the players seem to like him. For most of the negative things we see as fans for the owners it's not a four alarm fire. I'm sure they would like to win but ultimately they have many more factors to consider in the management of this organization. I can see why it makes sense for them to keep Woody and BK. I'm just saying.
  6. My first crush was Wonder Woman played by Lynda Carter. I used to watch to see her running around in that outfit. Of all the shows I watched as a kid I can remember something about at least one episode. The only thing I can remember about Wonder Woman is her.
  7. For me, the further we get away from the actual season the more optimistic I become. A month ago I wanted everyone fired. Now, I can live with Woody for another year. Having a chance to think things over makes a world of difference. If we land the 1 and 11 picks how would things around here change?
  8. I got the Bulls right, but it didn't go exactly the way I predicted. Miami got pwned.
  9. (1)DET vs. (8) ORL. DET 4-0 (4)Heat vs. (5) Bulls. Bulls 4-3 (2) Cavs vs. (7) Wiz. Cavs 4-1 (3) Tor vs. (6) NETS. Nets 4-2 West: (1) Mavs vs. (8) GS. Dallas 4-1 (2) Suns vs. (7) Lakers. Suns win 4-2 (3) SAS vs. (6) Nugs. Spurs win 4-1 (4) JAZZ vs. (5) Hou. Rockets win series 4-2
  10. GS also has the Donnie factor which think is the only reason these games will even be competitive. He knows his old team even though he is two years removed. With that said, I think Dallas is going to kick the horsesh*t out of the Warriors.
  11. The fundamental ones that are smart are the ones in the league but you cant say just because they have good fundamentals they are smart or deserve a shot. So what they have great ballhandling or get in the proper stance on defense. How do they use that to their advantage. Another things is that fundamentals can be taught as seen by the Nique story. Athleticism can't. Given the choice the athelete would and should be chosen every time.
  12. the ownership squabble, his rosters(two years youngest team, one year most injured, every year incomplete), and we actually improve every season. On the surface it seems our improvement was because of the weakened east this year but actually 14 of our 30 wins this year were against playoff teams(5 western conference). Last year the teams we beat averaged a .496 winning percentage which is nearly a .500 team or 41-41. This year it was .476 which is a 39-43 team. In a way if we played our average comp 82 games we won 3 more games to a team that was 2 games worse this year. The question is if you get better shouldn't the teams you play against get worse as a result? If you account for the massive injuries and their effect it's not unreasonable to say we were an improved team. Will it be enough to keep Woody around? I think it will.
  13. As good as fundamentals are you have to be smart to able to play without athletecism. The problem may be that most "unathletic" players may not be smart enough to compensate and that's why they are not on NBA rosters. Basketball fundamentals trump athleticism but athleticism trumps basketball stupidity.
  14. April 29 - NBA Draft's early entry eligibility deadline May 22 - NBA Draft Lottery June 18 - NBA Draft early entrant withdrawl deadline
  15. Since we're going on record I want Oden if we get number 1. I watched him in the championship and I think he has skills. I also watched Durant in the Kansas game for the conference championship and drooled, but only in the first half . I would take him at #2 and trade whoever to make room for him.
  16. Well now we know how not to build a championship team. As if the Hawks had that problem. This article helped so much.
  17. Quote: The true punishment - 2 game suspension without pay (which is nothing to sneeze at, pretty solid punishment)...wasn't for the shot...it was for the behavior afterwards. Granted, TLue gets to take shots and lose games - but in reality - who else would you give it to at that point? Our post game is non-existant. Yeah. I got the first part. Reread my post. On the second part I'm conflicted. While I'm on the tank wagon and not really upset at the result, I think Josh realized he was wrong and you give him a chance to make it right. Under normal circumstances that is. F**k it. Woody was right.
  18. Let me just say that I think Smoove was wrong for blowing up like that. Let me also say smoove was punished for taking that bad shot against Dre Miller by not receiving a chance to shoot the final shot. I wonder what punishment Lue received for taking the horrible shot he ended up taking.
  19. Clutch shots? What the hell? We won by 8 points. Nobody took a clutch shot. Anyway, Lue lost the last game he took a "clutch" shot in.
  20. Whoop de doo. We won. This means so much. I don't know why the Hawks didn't give speeches after the game. "First, I'd like to thank the academy"
  21. I can see good things in Marvin on occasion they just seem to be showing up less and less. I was so excited about Marvin as I was at the scrimmage and he looked so good. I mean really good. It left me with goosebumps. But a scrimmage is just what it is. I don't even get the sense he is struggling to get it like young players seem to do. It seems like he's not even reaching for it most of the time. I don't know what to think about him anymore. I'm not for or against trading him but he needs to show if he'll be special like he was drafted to be.
  22. My vote is for for Woody to go. In some ways it seems like BK was trying to build an athletic team built to run and Woody can't design a system for them, but at the same time BK hired Woody. So it's BK's fault. Shouldn't he be fired for his decision also. Maybe they both should go. After last year's draft I seriously questioned if BK has any respect for the point guard position. Based on his history here I don't think he does. It seems he believes you can throw any warm body in the 1 spot(Lue,Speedy,AJ, even JJ) and surround them with 6'9 players (like himself, go figure) and a team will be successful. He comes across as arrogant enough to believe that players in the mold of what he was in his playing days truly makes a team successful despite all the losing he did as a player.
  23. I can't help but laugh at all of this. This is working out perfectly. Imagine, two draft picks, and a fired woody. New leadership can do wonders for a team. Probably more so than a winning streak to end the season. I keep seeing the scene in star wars where the emporer says things are going exactly as I have foreseen. I'm so happy.
  24. It's hard to tell around here. You've seen KB21's post. This guy might actually be serious.
  25. Joe can see the future now. I guess Este hit him harder than I thought.
